Leonardo DiCaprio joined forces with his J. Edgar director Clint Eastwood last night for the LA premiere of their movie. It was an extra-special evening, since J. Edgar opened the AFI Film Festival. Along with Leo on the red carpet were other stars of the film like Ed Westwick, Naomi Watts, and Armie Hammer. Naomi wore Stella McCartney to pose for photos along with her partner Liev Scheriber, while Armie, who shares a kiss with Leo in the film, couldn't contain his real-life affection for wife Elizabeth Chambers.

The role of legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover has earned Leo a lot of Oscar buzz ahead of the film's release on Friday. To promote the biopic, Leonardo spoke with Time about what he and Hoover have in common. Leo said, "I identified with his ambition. I've been incredibly ambitious ever since I was young and, in some respects, have had no reservations about going for things I've wanted without questioning what the result will be. . . .There are a lot of pitfalls to success, and one is not listening to criticism. One of the most important things you can do is hear criticism of yourself and embrace it, whether it be — in my case — artistic or personal."

Leighton Meester got handcuffed during a dramatic Gossip Girl scene in NYC's Greenwich Village last night. She was arrested outside of a bar during what appeared to be her character's bachelorette party. Ed Westwick was also involved in the night shoot, and he watched Leighton's interaction with the police officer for the cameras. Leighton and Ed aren't the only stars of the juicy show that have been hard at work, since Blake Lively was also spotted on set this week. She's since returned to Boston, where she's visiting her new flame, Ryan Reynolds. Blake and Ryan's relationship seems to be heating up after she helped him celebrate his 35th birthday and has been spotted hanging out in his trailer while he works on R.I.P.D..

Blake Lively broke from celebrating Ryan Reynolds's birthday to join her Gossip Girl costar Leighton Meester on the NYC set of Gossip Girl today. The blond actress had been in Boston over the weekend to mark her new man's big day. Blake covered her dog Penny in balloons as a special treat for Ryan's 35th, sending the pup out on to his R.I.P.D. set as a surprise. Things with Blake and her Green Lantern costar Ryan seem to be going well, as they're spending as many weekends together in Massachusetts as they can between their shooting schedules. Leighton and Blake had the company of their small screen guy friends this morning, though, since Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley also reported for a stint in front of the cameras. The gang is working hard to make sure the new season of Gossip Girl is packed with all the OMG moments we've come to expect.

It's was a boys' night out for Gossip Girl costars Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford in NYC yesterday. The pair took time off from work to join Emma Roberts at T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Amaze 4G launch. Ed got a one-on-one tutorial on how to use the Android phone, while Chace caught up with his Oscars date, Emma. It was the second evening out in a row for Chace after he joined another hot up-and-comer, Elizabeth Olsen, at the New York Film Festival premiere of her Martha Marcy May Marlene on Tuesday. Chace and Elizabeth struck up a friendship filming Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding, and hung out last month at their Toronto Film Festival screening. In addition to keeping up their busy social calendars, Chace and Ed have been on a tight shooting schedule that includes sharing scenes with the newly single Blake Lively.

Alexander Skarsgard stepped out to NYC's Skylight Studios West last night to celebrate the Mulberry Spring 2012 collection during New York Fashion Week with the company's creative director, Emma Hill, and other famous faces like Alexa Chung, Rose Byrne, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. It was a busy day with plenty of catwalks keeping the stars busy —  Elle Fanning supported the Marc by Marc Jacobs show; Ed Westwick joined Bryan Greenberg; Brad Goreski and Sebastian Stan were at Simon Spurr; and Mandy Moore checked out the latest offerings from Jenny Packham. Renée Zellweger showed love to her longtime friend Carolina Herrera, and Brody Jenner was on hand to see Avril Lavigne's offerings for Abbey Dawn. In fact, Avril invited Brody's half sister, Kylie Jenner, to walk her very first runway, and many of the Kardashians — like Kim, Kourtney, and Kris Humphries — were in the front row to watch. The cast of Gossip Girl was back to work in the Big Apple yesterday, filming at multiple locations around town. Blake Lively changed from green shorts and a sweater into sequins and a flowy skirt, while Leighton Meester, in a camel fascinator and leopard-print shift, teamed up with Ed Westwick at Central Park's duck pond. Chace Crawford got back to work as well, sharing an exchange of words, and hot kisses, with returning face Kaylee DeFer. The small-screen costars went their separate ways over the Summer. Blake vacationed in Europe and recently visited Leonardo DiCaprio in Australia, as Leighton promoted Vera Wang's latest fragrance, Love Struck, and talked makeup tips with BellaSugar. The entire gang has been steadily working for the past month, on both coasts, for what's sure to be an exciting return on Sept. 26 following their jaw-dropping season four finale.

Leighton Meester arrived on the NYC set of Gossip Girl yesterday styled in her latest luxury look for a scene with her on-again, off-again love, Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick. Leighton and Ed shared an embrace that might suggest the couple are headed for a reconciliation — catch up on all the juicy details from last season with Buzz's OMG moments from the Gossip Girl season finale. The show returns Sept. 26, though the cast has been steadily filming for the past month. Blake Lively and Chace Crawford brought production to the West Coast, allowing Blake to spend more time with her boyfriend, Leonardo DiCaprio. Blake represented the Gossip Girl cast at the Teen Choice Awards over the weekend, and even though Leighton couldn't be on hand, she nonetheless tweeted a big "I love you" to her fans.

Blake Lively was the lucky lady sandwiched between Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick while shooting Gossip Girl on a yacht in LA yesterday. Blake's character Serena van der Woodsen ended up in California at the end of last season, and it looks like her friends Chuck and Nate make the cross-country trek for a hug-filled visit. Blake kicked off her week in NYC, where she and boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio were spotted riding bikes around town. The two are going strong despite not being spotted together as much since she returned to work on Gossip Girl and her next big-screen project Savages. Leonardo also returned to LA with Blake and he's expected at a Hollywood Foreign Press Association luncheon later today.

Ed Westwick got lots of love at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne yesterday. He posed with female fans and was happy to chat with reporters during the event, which kicked off with a party on Thursday. The actor is Down Under during a break from filming J. Edgar and Gossip Girl, and some of his small screen costars are also taking time off. Blake Lively, though, is still hard at work since she was spotted on set for the show in California earlier this week.

Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick both suited up to step out socially during the last twenty-four hours, but the costars showed up on separate red carpets. Penn attended a screening of his movie, Margin Call, in NYC last night, after showing off the project at Sundance earlier this year. Ed, meanwhile, left LA and work on J. Edgar to go across the globe to Melbourne to celebrate at an official Grand Prix party today. The duo is clearly taking advantage of their time off from the TV series, enjoying days and nights out on the town.
