Elisha Cuthbert kept the girls in check while showing off her bikini body in Maui on Monday. She was enjoying some fun in the waves with her boyfriend, Canadian hockey player Dion Phaneuf. While I've skipped all of Elisha's horror and gore movies, I'll always have a soft spot for her from The Girl Next Door. It's no mystery why guys (especially those hockey players!) find Elisha to be one of the hottest girls out there. Now I just wish she'd get back up on the big screen — or small — and show off that endearing side again.

. . . because Elisha Cuthbert, who really, really will always be Jack Bauer's daughter to me, has just landed herself a starring role in Ny-Lon, a CBS drama pilot.

Not to mention those "___ is the new ____" references . . .
. . . because Cuthbert is the new Rashida Jones. She's playing the role of Edie, originated by Jones in the 2005 British version of the series.

Kim Bauer Cuthbert will play a New York teacher/part-time record store clerk who embarks on a trans-Atlantic romance with Michael, a London stock broker. After a fateful encounter in London, they must decide whether their relationship is a fling or something more serious. Here's a rundown of what happened in the UK series' seven episodes.

The Golden Globes may not be going on as hoped, but that doesn't mean that the swag suites will all go to waste. Some — sorry guys — not-so-A-Listers were out in LA yesterday at the Kari Feinstein Winter Style Lounge to get their hands on some of the free stuff. Some of the first in line included Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rex Lee, and Jeremy Piven. Chuck's Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez brought a whole new level of meaning to posing fiercely in their fur vests. I'm sure they took those bad boys home. I'm thinking that most of the actual nominees who are boycotting the awards won't be swooping in to snag the swag, but who knows, perhaps the draw of free free free is too much to bear for some.

Mandy Moore hosted a NYE party in Miami at The Raleigh Hotel on Monday night. She was joined by a Carrie-less-Chace Crawford with his new BFF JC Chasez and Dax Shepard (with what looks like no Kristen Bell in site). Mandy has always been one of our favorite starlets for being wholesome, smart and sweet. Hopefully things will remain that way in 2008 but word is she was so sexed up on NYE and all the men took notice. Apparently Mandy turned up the heat in her hot little pink dress so much so that Brody Jenner and BFF Frankie Delgado were staring at the starlet all night and even followed her out at the wee hours of the event. While the red carpet had its share of hot guys and pretty young ladies, inside last night's GQ Men of the Year party was where things really got hopping. And by that, I mean Ryan Gosling was there. Geeky guys obviously rule, with Justin Chambers pulling off a bit of the Clark Kent about to become Superman thing with his undone shirt. At the event, Hayden lamented the fact that men traditionally get better roles than women. She said, "In general, there have always been better male roles than females, which has been a struggle." While that's no secret, little Hayden's got a mighty strong girl to play on Heroes. Now, how much fun would it be to party with this group of guys (and girls)?

The red carpet was overflowing with sexy men last night at the 12th annual GQ Men of the Year Awards. Obsession of the Year Hayden Panettiere and Diane Lane were lucky enough to be among the few ladies who got to mix and mingle with the big winners, which included James McAvoy, Casey Affleck, and Emile Hirsch. Cover boy Kanye finally felt up to making his first public appearance since getting back from Europe but sadly wasn't ready to walk the red carpet just yet. The party was abuzz with Oscar talk for the best male performance (Emile, Russell Crowe, and Clooney, to name a few), but Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen were more interested in throwing in their two cents about Katherine Heigl's recent Vanity Fair interview where she calls Knocked Up a sexist movie.
