Fans of Twilight will finally get to see the whole saga comes to an end with this week's release of Breaking Dawn Part 2. But before you catch Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and the rest of the film's stars acting out the highly anticipated scenes, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at what the red-hot actors were doing before they were cast in the series. Some were unknown, others were child stars, so let's take a look back at their careers.
Robert Pattinson joined his Twilight buddies Taylor Lautner, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, and Peter Facinelli at this evening's MTV VMAs in LA. Robert introduced an exclusive clip from Breaking Dawn Part 2 and also thanked the fans for their many years of support. They're gearing up for the release of the final film on Nov. 16. One of the series's stars was absent — Kristen Stewart's in Toronto premiering her On the Road. She stepped out with her other castmates Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund, looking gorgeous in a sheer Zuhair Murad gown.
It's the last year at Comic-Con for the Twilight crew, and the Cullen family got their own press conference to talk about Breaking Dawn Part 2. Cast members Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz, and Nikki Reed sat down to discuss their last film as the vampire clan. Like their costar Robert Pattinson mentioned during the other press conference, they had some funny ideas about a possible reboot, and they shared cute stories from their overall Twilight experience. Here's what they talked about:
On their character development over the course of the series:
Jackson Rathbone: "When we first see Jasper, he was kind of tweaker, like a heroin junkie going through withdrawals. He's like a guy on a diet seeing a bunch of donuts. [In Breaking Dawn Part 2] it's the first time we see Jasper at ease a little, but then all hell breaks loose.
Peter Facinelli: [joking] "In Twilight I started dying my hair blond, then wigs, and the wigs went through transformation. In Breaking Dawn it's longer."
Nikki Reed: "Rosalie finally smiles. . . . The audience roots for Rosalie a little more."
On the future of the series;
Jackson Rathbone: "Maybe they'll reboot it and call it The Amazing Twilight."
On the future of the cast:
ER: "I hope we're all healthy and nobody's on Celebrity Rehab."
Find out what else the cast spilled about, including what they're fans of, after the break.
Charlize Theron stepped out in Beverly Hills last night for a Young Adult premiere held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She donned a dress from Stella McCartney to pose on the red carpet along with costars Patton Oswalt and Elizabeth Reaser, as well as the movie's writer Diablo Cody. It was a extraspecial screening for Charlize, because earlier in the day she made the list of 2012 Golden Globe nominees! Charlize was pleased with the accolade, saying yesterday, "Yeah, these are the moments where you go, what did I do in a past life to deserve all of this? It's all too much."
Her character, a 30-something author who returns to her hometown to try and win back her now-married ex-boyfriend, is a controversial one. Playing the role opened Charlize's eyes about portraying someone unlikeable and also taught her about some weird female habits. In particular, Charlize doesn't get Hello Kitty. She said recently, "I'm pretty amazed by Hello Kitty. I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh—t, and nobody is concerned for them. It's the one iconic teenage symbol that seems OK for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it."
Charlize Theron led the way in a sexy little red dress at the NYC screening of Young Adult last night. While there was no date on her arm, Charlize looked happy to be in the company of costars including Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wilson, and Elizabeth Reaser. Young Adult screenwriter Diablo Cody was also decked out for the event while Jason Reitman was in his usual attire. Charlize's character in the movie seems a long way from her stunning and strong self, though in the age of Facebook even Charlize admitted to checking in on her high school crush. Charlize is also getting great reviews for her part in the movie and with award season around the corner, we'll hopefully see a lot more daring and impressive red-carpet looks from the actress.
Straight off her whirlwind press tour with Breaking Dawn, Elizabeth Reaser took time out to talk to us about her next role as the wife of Charlize Theron's ex-boyfriend in Young Adult, opening in limited release this Friday. She told us about her life as a teenage bad girl — from skipping school to running away from home — and what it was like witnessing Charlize Theron's "mind-blowing" performance during filming. Watch to hear more cute anecdotes from Elizabeth's younger years, plus why she's so fascinated with people from high school.
The Breaking Dawn Part 1 gang reconvened for an afterparty in LA last night following their big LA premiere. Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, and Kellan Lutz horsed around with series creator Stephenie Meyer, as well as leading lady Elizabeth Reaser. The bash was conveniently held at the Nokia Theater, where all the fun had gone down prior to the screening. It seemed all the stars were in a great mood, and Kellan was effervescent when we caught him on the carpet and he gushed about all the opportunities Twilight has given him.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were cute on the red carpet, but they evidently skipped the bash. She looked amazing in a high-slitted J. Mendel gown and spoke with us about the amazing Carolina Herrera dress she gets to wear as Bella Swan. She said, "I was very relieved to love it as soon as I put it on." Robert, meanwhile, said the thing he'll miss most about Edward Cullen is the opportunity to work with his castmates. He said, "I've grown up with them, so it's like leaving school. You might not necessarily see anyone again!"
Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser on Twilight Fan Tributes and "Tasteful" Breaking Dawn Sex Scenes
We caught up with the heads of the Cullen household, Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser, during their recent press day for Breaking Dawn Part 1 in Beverly Hills. We talked to the pair about how the experience of shooting the final installments in the series felt different, and also asked Peter whether he'll let his daughters see what is decidedly the most grown-up film yet in the franchise. He also shared some stories about truly intense fan tributes he's encountered! Check out our interview and be sure to stay tuned tonight and tomorrow for our coverage from the big Breaking Dawn red carpet!
Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed were swarmed by fans on their way into Comic-Con in San Diego this morning. They stopped to pose for photos and sign autographs, as did their costars Elizabeth Reaser, Booboo Stewart, and Julia Jones. The Breaking Dawn press conference is just getting started, and BuzzSugar is tweeting live from Comic-Con with all the latest. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart haven't made their entrance yet, but they've been hanging out in LA ahead of their trip south. Rob was spotted walking his dog, Bear, with pal Tom Sturridge, while Kristen's been taking yoga classes and prepping for her upcoming role in Snow White and the Huntsman.
Black Swan's Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis reunited last night for a Vanity Fair and Fox Searchlight Films bash in Beverly Hills. The pregnant star and her fiancé Benjamin Millepied arrived back in LA on Wednesday evening ahead of this Sunday's Oscars. Natalie is a favorite for the best actress win, and we celebrated her success by taking a look back at her amazing award season run. We're also gearing up to see what she picks from hair and makeup to the dress she chooses to accommodate her growing baby bump. Mila will be a presenter during the show, an honor she shares with everyone from Justin Timberlake to Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey. Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy stuck together at yesterday evening's soiree after she attended Tuesday's Costume Designers Guild event. Emma Roberts posed with her friend and onscreen mom in Homework, Elizabeth Reaser. The Breaking Dawn matriarch has yet to join the rest of the cast, including little Mackenzie Foy, Robert Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart, in Vancouver. There are rumors that Robert will fly back to California for a quick Oscars cameo, but whether or not it's Mr. Pattinson, the producer promises a Twilight presence. The Oscars party circuit is officially in full swing, so don't miss any of the excitement with our updates!
