Showstoppers: The Sexiest Looks to Hit the Met Gala

There's no denying it: the Met Gala red carpet debuted some of the sexiest dresses we've seen this year.

There's no denying it: the Met Gala red carpet debuted some of the sexiest dresses we've seen this year. We're talking thigh-high slits, sheer insets, lacy finishes, plunging necklines, and even some corsets and harnesses (the theme of this year's bash was punk, after all). From Constance Jablonski's hand-crafted golden Wes Gordon gown to a serious display of skin from Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors and Anja Rubik's moto-inspired red leather Anthony Vaccarello mini, our favorite starlets and models weren't afraid to show just how sexy this year's theme could be. What's the point of punk if you can't push the envelope a little, anyway?

Cutout Faceoff: Who Wore the Sexy Look Best?

In the past, punk felt a bit more synonymous with grunge than sex bomb, but last night's Met Gala was ready and willing to change that notion.

In the past, punk felt a bit more synonymous with grunge than sex bomb, but last night's Met Gala was ready and willing to change that notion. A slew of starlets stepped out in cutout gowns that flashed patches of skin for a sultry sizzle. Carey Mulligan toyed with the idea in a Balenciaga gown that revealed her waist, while Jessica Alba picked a sparkling Tory Burch number that put the attention front and center, courtesy of open patches above and below the bust. Miranda Kerr showed off most of her top half with a Michael Kors T-bar column dress, and Emma Watson felt the punkiest of all in a Prabal Gurung pick that looked slashed at both the shoulder and waist. So, when all's said and done, which sexy cutout look was your favorite of the night?

Emma Watson embraced the night's call for an edgier aesthetic in a cutout black silk-crepe Prabal Gurung look that showcased more than a hint of skin. She added a pair of T-strap pumps, then furthered the punky appeal with a mismatched set of earrings, including a diamond and black enamel dart pendant earring by Fred Leighton. Emma Watson Bares Her Belly in Punk Prabal Gurung

Emma Watson picked a cutout dress designed by Prabal Gurung for this evening's big Met Gala in NYC.

Emma Watson picked a cutout dress designed by Prabal Gurung for this evening's big Met Gala in NYC. Emma pulled back her hair to let the dress — and her toned figure — get all the attention. The theme of the night was Punk: Chaos to Couture, and as expected, there was lots of black and peeks of skin on the red carpet. For an extra pop of punk, Emma rocked only one long earring. Emma is kicking off a very exciting May — she'll be bringing The Bling Ring to the Cannes Film Festival.

From Folklore to Film: The History of Cinderella

Many of us know the Cinderella story thanks to Disney's popular animated film, but the fairy tale about a girl with a magical guardian dates all the way back to the first century.

Many of us know the Cinderella story thanks to Disney's popular animated film, but the fairy tale about a girl with a magical guardian dates all the way back to the first century. Since then, several versions have popped up in literature, music, film, and TV, and now Downton Abbey's cousin Rose, actress Lily James, has been chosen to star in Kenneth Branagh's live-action version. Disney plans to release the film next year, and production is slated for this Fall. In the meantime, let's take a look at the evolution of Cinderella, from ancient Egypt to now.

The Bling Ring Trailer: Emma Watson Wants to Rob Hollywood

The first footage of The Bling Ring featured a seductively dancing Emma Watson, and now the full trailer introduces us to her character, Nicki.

The first footage of The Bling Ring featured a seductively dancing Emma Watson, and now the full trailer introduces us to her character, Nicki. Nicki and her friends (including American Horror Story's Taissa Farmiga) are pretty obsessed with the scene of young Hollywood, but rubbing elbows with them at LA clubs and dressing like them isn't enough. With the help of gossip blogs and Google, the kids start breaking into the homes of celebrities like Paris Hilton to steal their pricey clothes and accessories. Their new lifestyle catches up with them soon enough, and the titular bling ring has to face the law.

I love Emma Watson, but it's weird seeing her play someone so morally loose and shallow (then again, it's always weird seeing her play someone who's not Hermione). However, I do like that the movie (which is based on real events from just a few years ago) looks kind of satirical and funny, especially since director Sofia Coppola's work is usually so moody. The Bling Ring opens June 14, and you can check out the trailer after the jump.
