Emmy Nomination Reactions 2012 (Video)

The nominations in the drama series category are Madman, American Horror Story, Downton Abbey lead the Emmy nominations. I'm Shannon Vestal. I'm Becky Kirsch and we're breaking down the biggest Emmy snubs, surprises and the nominees we're most excited about. New Girl is one of my favorite new shows this season. So I was so excited to see Max Greenfield up for best supporting actor in a comedy. I think that Schmidt is the breakout character of that show, so I just couldn't be more pleased. It 's always fun to see what new shows are gonna get some love, but I was really glad that Breaking Bad got more Emmy nominations than ever before because I think that show is so good and a lot of shows lose steam over time, but that show just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, and they're always an Emmy staple. And you know, one actor who is not an Emmy staple who I was also happy to see on the list is Bill Hader, who has his first nomination for Saturday Night Live, and I was really excited about that because Stefan is my favorite character on that show. Oh yes, Stefan is SNL's hottest character. Exactly. Well Crystal Rig also got a namenomination for Saturday Night Live and though it's not her first nomination for the show, it was her last season on SNL. So I think it's just a fitting, sweet way to say goodbye to her. Yeah, but you know one actor who had his last season that didn't get a nomination is Hugh Laurie and I was really surprised that he was snubbed for his last season of House because he's gotten nominations a lot in the past so that was kind of sad. Well, blame the fact that he was on a network drama, maybe. Because network dramas did not get a lot of love in the overall best drama series category. There were all these cable behemoths in there and they edged out people like the Good Wife, who I was shocked to see not in there. They've been up for best drama ever since they've been on the air. And it's not just dramas either. Now new cable dramas like Veep and Girls edged out old network comedies. Glee hardly got any nominations this year. In the past, they 've gotten a lot, but this year it was just Dot Marie Jones, all alone. Team coached based though. So not too many surprises on this year's list, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that there's seven and the best leading actress for a comedy series which we don't see too often and you know even though it's exciting, a lot of the honor is gonna be in the nomination for so many who's willing. Yeah, a lot of funny ladies in there. Well I agree with you, not a lot of surprises this year, but I thought it was really nice to see a nomination for Kathryn Joosten of Desperate Housewives. This is the bittersweet nomination now because, not only did her character die on the show but the actress herself died recently and it was Desperate Housewives' final season. Yeah, so it's a sweet way to pay tribute to her memory and memory of the show. Well, those are our thoughts on the Emmy nominations.
