With TV dramas getting lauded as some of the best entertainment vehicles currently out there, it's no surprise that television-star fashion is approaching Oscar-worthy levels. At last night's Critics' Choice Television Awards, small-screen stars dazzled us in high dosages of glamour, including Malin Akerman in a short, spangled black dress and Emmy Rossum in a one-strap, fire-truck-red beaded gown. The always impeccable Diane Kruger picked a ruched style with an extreme sweetheart neckline done up in lace, while Cat Deeley worked a floor-sweeping gold style with allover creeping sparkles and thicker sequined patches at the sides, hips, and shoulders. Which catches your eye the most?
Some of TV's most stylish stars stopped by Variety's Emmy event last night, though anyone expecting a slew of bright, Summer-ready dresses would have been disappointed. Instead, ladies like Emmy Rossum, Hayden Panettiere, and Kerry Washington opted for more somber shades.
Emmy picked a patterned dress with sculpted shoulders and waist-cinching panels from Bibhu Mohapatra's Resort 2013 collection, while Kerry wore a black Calvin Klein Collection sheath accented with leopard pumps and a Roger Vivier bag. It was a dress-free evening for Hayden, who did skinny J Brand leather pants with a sexy sheer top. Which dark look was your favorite?
The music industry's hottest stars got glamorous for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards blue carpet on Sunday in Las Vegas. Taylor Swift wore a short and shimmery blue number, while Miley Cyrus went bold in a black and white jumpsuit. Long sleeves and a floor-sweeping silhouette didn't mean Emmy Rossum's velvet Zuhair Murad look was buttoned-up. Far from it! Sheer, spotted fabric let the actress flash some skin, and from the back, it was positively sultry. Do you like the hourglass effect Emmy achieved?
Last night's annual Met Gala brought out stars to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit. From models to small- and big-screen actors, celebrities shared inside looks at their beauty preparations, red carpet arrivals, and glimpses inside the event itself on social media for the museum's fashion event. 'Tis the season for braids, and Emmy Rossum showed off her best Spring style at the Saving Tails Gala. Re-creating the look is simple because the key is imperfection. Sweep hair over one shoulder and make a plait secured with a hair elastic. If all your hair isn't quite long enough to go to one side, then use a bobby pin similar to your hair color to secure at the nape in back. Then use your fingers to stretch the braid, making more flyaways, which are a good thing in this case. Finally, to hold back Emmy's long bangs, a few white lacquered bobby pins, Ban.do's blush-hued Flash Bobbi Pins ($10 for a set of two), were added. Swipe on a bright red-orange lipstick like Nars Heat Wave ($26) to round out the look. With Emmy's fresh look in mind, we're all set for a sunny picnic on the lawn.
Olivia Palermo was joined by Nicky Hilton and Emmy Rossum for the New Yorkers For Children annual Spring dinner, presented by Valentino, last night in NYC. Olivia, who got into the spirit of the season by donning a bright yellow Katie Ermilio gown, had boyfriend Johannes Huebl on her arm for the charitable evening out. Nicky was accompanied by boyfriend James Rothschild, and models Erin Heatherton and Hilary Rhoda were also on hand to attend the annual event that aims to support youth in foster care.
Emmy has been putting in time in her hometown after wrapping the current season of her hit show, Shameless, with the season finale airing on Sunday night. She is not only a small-screen star, but is also pursuing a career in music, and she put her skills to use signing the national anthem at the Mets' opening day at Citi Field last week.
