The Hangover Boys Monkey Around For EW

We're just a couple weeks away from The Hangover Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 comedy that made Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, and Zach Galifiankis household names.

We're just a couple weeks away from The Hangover Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 comedy that made Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, and Zach Galifiankis household names. There's a lot riding on the second part of their story, and the guys sat down with Entertainment Weekly with director Todd Phillipps to talk about the perils of shooting in Thailand and why they'll always keep coming back for more Hangovers.

  • Galifianakis on the script: "I remember thumbing through it, going, 'Oh God. Oh God.'"
  • Cooper on filming in Bangkok: "It was the hardest shoot I’ve ever done for sure. Nothing ever even came close to it. I thought A-Team was brutal: I got injured and it was f*cking ing six months of . . . not even close! One criticism you could never make about this movie is that we just phoned it in. Even if it fails miserably, it’s not for lack of trying."
  • On making the sequel out of love for each other:
BC: "There’s no other reason. If anything, why would you do it? There’s more downside than upside."
Phillips: "You can’t beat what you’ve done. You can only lose in this position. But we just love hanging out with each other."
Helms: [Laughs] "We’re going to be ramming Hangovers down America’s throat for the next three decades."
Breaking Dawn

First Look at Edward, Bella, and Jacob in Breaking Dawn!

Entertainment Weekly got the first official look at Breaking Dawn with two steamy covers — one features Jacob's smoldering gaze and the other Edward and Bella in a tender moment.

Entertainment Weekly got the first official look at Breaking Dawn with two steamy covers — one features Jacob's smoldering gaze and the other Edward and Bella in a tender moment. Filming on the final two Twilight saga installments just finished in Vancouver this week, and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart took care of reshoots in the Caribbean last weekend. The two were spotted working on Edward and Bella honeymoon scenes on the beach and in the water. Kristen Stewart spoke to EW about the pivotal Breaking Dawn wedding and more:

  • On the wedding: "It was one of the coolest things that I’ve done. There was a certain point when I walked on set, and I saw everyone from the entire cast sitting there in the pews, about to do their bit. And it was just so perfect for me in that moment. It was so emotional in such a real way. I literally felt like thanking them for coming."
  • On the sex scene: "It feels like a real love scene, not necessarily vampirey, which is good."
  • On the birth scene: "It’s funny because when [the PG-13 issue] comes up, everybody thinks it’s all about the sex. The birth is really effective, and I’ve heard it really hits you in the face. But what it could have been? It could have been shocking and grotesque, because that’s how it was written in the book. I would have loved to have been puking up blood."
  • Taylor on the difficulties of being a werewolf: "Everybody is always complaining to me that I don’t have to wear the contacts, I don’t have to wear the white makeup or wear wigs and all that stuff. And I’m like, 'I’m the one in the freezing rain and cold not wearing a shirt! I paid my dues in New Moon and Eclipse.'"
  • Taylor on imprinting: "There were many times I walked up to Stephenie [Meyer] and asked her, 'What exactly is imprinting?' It’s still a very confusing thing for me, so don’t ask."

Robert Pattinson Tells EW About His "Obscenely Boring Life," Risqué Breaking Dawn, and Working With Reese Witherspoon

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon showed off their great chemistry on the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly, and inside the magazine they chat all about their upcoming movie Water For Elephants.

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon showed off their great chemistry on the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly, and inside the magazine they chat all about their upcoming movie Water For Elephants. He kicked off promotion for the film with an appearance on The Tonight Show last week, though Reese will probably take a break from the work to focus on her rumored wedding this Saturday. Both stars managed to find time to speak with the publication, though, with Rob discussing what he'll do once the racy final installment of Twilight is released, a role he'd love to play, and the joys of working with Reese — and the feeling was apparently mutual. They said:

  • On what he'll do after Twilight ends in 2012: "It's funny how it's ending in 2012. This is how the world will end. But, um, I don't know. I think most of people's recognition is based on the magazines and stuff. All the gossip stories won't work — they're always combined with Twilight, so once that's done and it can't be combined with the promotion of the film, I think it will end. Because I have an obscenely boring life."
  • On raciness in Breaking Dawn: "There's some interesting and weird stuff going on — really very, very, very strange. It's great. For a big mainstream movie, it’s the most obscure story line and really outside the box. It's a horror movie. I've seen a few bits, and I just can't see how it's going to be PG-13 . . . unless they cut everything out."
  • On a role Rob would love: "I'd love to play a big fat person."
  • On working with Reese: "There's something about her. She's just this genuinely nice person. I don't know if she puts an effort into creating a nice aura, but her mood dissipates over the whole set. It was a completely different environment from when she wasn't there. All the kids and the animals were just drawn to her. It made it incredibly easy to do my part — all my reaction shots are just watching her work brilliantly. She's really cool and she's just . . . never, ever annoying. God, that's the worst description, isn't it?"
  • Reese on Rob's work ethic: "He's an incredibly hardworking person with an incredible work ethic. He doesn't ever complain. Not once. Which is sort of lower than the national average for actors. They're always complaining. Especially the men!"

Superman Henry Cavill Covers Entertainment Weekly

We learned a few weeks ago that Henry Cavill is the next in line to don Superman's cape, which landed him a spot on our list of hot Brits to watch.

We learned a few weeks ago that Henry Cavill is the next in line to don Superman's cape, which landed him a spot on our list of hot Brits to watch. The latest cover of Entertainment Weekly shows the superhero of tomorrow somewhere between Clark Kent and the Man of Steel, featuring Cavill in the iconic t-shirt under his leather jacket. He looks ready for action to me, but believe it or not, Cavill had more doubts about landing the role than director Zack Snyder did. Here's more:

  • Cavill on trying on the suit: "All I could think was: Oh, god. They're going to look at me and go 'He's not Superman. Not a chance.' The actor inside me was going: You're not ready! You're not ready!"
  • Snyder on how he knew Cavill was the one: "He walked out, and no one laughed. Other actors put that suit on, and it's a joke, even if they're great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go 'Wow.' Okay: This was Superman."

Reese Witherspoon Talks Divorce, Not Dwelling, and How Do You Know in Entertainment Weekly

Reese Witherspoon kept her promotion going for How Do You Know by granting a long interview to Entertainment Weekly for its current issue.

Reese Witherspoon kept her promotion going for How Do You Know by granting a long interview to Entertainment Weekly for its current issue. She's been busy chatting up the James L. Brooks film for the last week, including at last weekend's NYC junket, where she chatted about how she loves self-affirmations and dished on working with Robert Pattinson in Water for Elephants. Reese had more to say about shooting with Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson last year in Washington DC, and she also opened up about how she's getting pickier about roles. Reese further discussed how she got through her divorce from Ryan Phillippe despite the public scrutiny and is now moving on and happy with nonactor boyfriend Jim Toth. Reese said:

  • On if she kept things together during her divorce: "No, no, I didn't keep it together. I don't know what you're talking about. [Laughs] I mean, I didn't fall down on a public street and have a meltdown—I did it in my own house! But I wouldn't say I kept it together. [Pauses] When I think about it from a different perspective, though, I'd say 99 percent of the people who come up to me, the energy is totally positive. Not that people don't come up and go, 'I hated your last movie. It sucked'—and I go, 'I know, I'm sorry. Do you want your money back?' [Laughs] But I'm very lucky. I don't know why, but I have in the past and will hopefully in the future elicit positive feelings from people. You can't ever feel bad about a life lived like that, where so many people are giving you love and hopefully you're creating a little bright spot in what can be a really difficult life for someone."
  • On the roles available to her now: "I don't know what happened. I just didn't read anything I liked. And I think if you don't work for a while, you get a little, like, stuck. It was particularly hard around the writers' strike. But it feels different now, too. The movies that are being made feel different. There are a lot of really, really, really big movies about robots and things—and there's not a part for a 34-year-old woman in a robot movie. I've never done the giant robot movie. Never done the superhero movie. That doesn't interest me too much."
  • On what she does when she's not working: "I also have kids, so when I'm not working, it's not like I'm sitting around doing nothing. I'm taking care of two kids who are rapidly growing up in some bizarre time warp. I mean, somehow I now have an 11-year-old."

Taylor Swift Named Entertainer of the Year: Do You Agree?

We've been counting down the memorable highs and lows from 2010, but there is one person in particular who had a very good year: Taylor Swift.

We've been counting down the memorable highs and lows from 2010, but there is one person in particular who had a very good year: Taylor Swift. Time magazine named her one of their most influential people back in April, and now Entertainment Weekly has crowned her Entertainer of the Year.

Swift is the youngest performer ever to receive the recognition from the magazine, and she worked hard for the title. To recap, the singer took home four Grammys earlier this year, made a big Hollywood movie, and most recently, picked up an American Music Award. Oh, and somehow in all of that commotion, she created another album, Speak Now, which has already taken off like gangbusters and broken records for first-week sales.

Obviously Swift has been a busy lady, but it could be argued that 2009 was a bigger year for her, since that's when she really blew up on the music scene and became a household name. As for 2010, there were just so many artists who left their mark (Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, or Eminem immediately come to mind). Did Swift really best all of them?

Jake and Anne Bare All For the Cover of Entertainment Weekly

Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway grace the cover — make that three covers — of the latest Entertainment Weekly to discuss their new film Love and Other Drugs, and they're wearing a lot less clothes than they were in those movie stills!

Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway grace the cover — make that three covers — of the latest Entertainment Weekly to discuss their new film Love and Other Drugs, and they're wearing a lot less clothes than they were in those movie stills! In the film, the actors play two relationship-phobes whose casual fling takes a serious turn (watch the trailer again here). But a big reason the film is getting so much attention is the reported multiple sex scenes. Read on as the duo discuss what it's like to get it on (and strip down) on camera.

  • On their rehearsal process:
Hathaway: "We had two weeks of rehearsal. It was literally the three of us [Gyllenhaal, Hathaway, and director Edward Zwick] in a room, playing. And talking about books that moved us."
Gyllenhaal: "And watching some pretty racy, sexy scenes from movies."
Hathaway: "And saying, 'All right, this is turning me on right now!'"
  • Gyllenhaal on their chemistry:
"There's, like, this little door that you open up and you're like, 'You down?' 'Yeah, I'm down — let's do it.' And the door closes when the scene ends. Yeah, it's sexy when we're doing it. And then it stops. But she could probably talk to a wall and have chemistry."

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp Tour Entertainment Weekly

Johnny Depp and Angelna Jolie shared the spotlight as the face of Entertainment Weekly's newest cover.

Johnny Depp and Angelna Jolie shared the spotlight as the face of Entertainment Weekly's newest cover. They're promoting The Tourist for the magazine's holiday preview, and in the issue the A-listers discussed how they bonded on the set and why they had never met before. Their film, which is one of our Fall movie picks, opens on Dec. 10, but you can see their chemistry on display in the trailer. For now, read about what the stars have in common and why Jolie is a "cool broad."

  • Johnny Depp on meeting Angelina for the first time: "So much has been written about Angie and Brad. They're sort of the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of our era. I knew she was a big star, but I didn't know what to expect . . . "
  • Angelina Jolie on why they hadn't met before: "We're both not that social. I don't think either one of us goes out of our house, especially in France. We're both locked away."
  • Jolie on why she chose the film: "I wanted to do something that would be a great vacation for my kids. I got a phone call saying, 'Okay, the film's shooting in Venice,' and I said, 'I don't know what it is, but I'm going to say yes.'"

  • Jolie on exploring Depp's office: "As I was waiting, I noticed these beautiful pictures of his [girlfriend, actress Vanessa Paradis] and kids and all of his paintings. He's an artist, and you feel that in any space he's in. When he walked in, he was as interesting as I'd hoped he'd be."
  • Depp on being nervous to meet Jolie: "Well, there is sort of that. Because on one level it's like, 'Here we go, kid. We're about to get into the ring together.' We sat there and babbled about our kids, and it was a huuuuuge relief. I was pleasantly surprised that she has an incredibly perverse sense of humor. She's a really cool broad."

  • Rupert Grint on filming the last movies: "Somehow, I wasn't prepared for how emotional it was. It hit home how much it all meant to us."
  • Emma Watson on her post-Potter life: "I have such a structure when I'm working on Potter. I get told what time I get picked up. Or, 'I'm going to eat a sandwich now.' It feels wonderful."
