The Boston Marathon finish line became the scene of a coordinated attack today when twin blasts erupted on the sidelines around 2:45 p.m. EDT, killing at least two people and injuring over 100 more. President Obama said those responsible will feel "the full weight of justice," though he refrained from calling it a terrorist act despite the fact that law enforcement agencies have classified the incident as such. No suspects have been apprehended, but Boston police have dismantled one other suspicious device.
The city was still in lockdown at the time of this report — luckily both of our editors on the ground are safe, but one was stuck in The Fairmont Hotel right at the epicenter of the first explosion and sent us reports of the scene inside. We will be bringing you updates as they develop. Our thoughts are with all the brave responders and citizens of Boston during this difficult time.
