I think the picture is beautiful. Why are so many people so uptight about showing something that is perfectly natural?
She's a model and wearing a bit of make-up is likely a normal thing for her. Is there some rule one can't wear make-up when they're home? How do any of you nay-saying idiots know she put on make-up *just* for the picture? That's right; you don't. It's sad some people find breastfeeding "TMI", embarrassing for the baby's junior high career (give me a break), or in some other way sexual/bad/gross/whatever. BOOBS ARE NOT JUST FOR SEX. Here's the fact: Breasts are glands, mammary glands, with the functionality of making milk for FEEDING BABIES. Grow up and get over it. Lovely picture, Miranda, and congrats.
I think she's just proud of her decision to breast feed. With formula being so in vogue, she is showing young moms that even gorgeous underwear models can make the selfless, healthy decision. I think it's great that she's opening the dialogue. (Especially with so many finding it 'disgusting' etc.) Oh, and that woman is an UNDERWEAR model. The least of her son's concerns will be this photo. :) FWIW, I also chose natural labor and exclusively breast fed because I felt both were beneficial to my son. I also chose not to find out the gender, like Miranda. Nothing makes you feel more like a woman than the amazing task of labor, or being able to soothe and feed your child.

People are so immature. You're complaining because it's a picture of her breastfeeding her child? If it was her bottle feeding the baby, would anyone complain then? Of course they would, because breast milk is so much better for a child, right? Such hypocrites. Beautiful photo, despite the bitching.
no matter what anyone/everyone says or thinks this pic shouts here's my boob here my kid period classy huh... and more like its the other way around my boob then my kid you know thats the 1st thing that grabs your attention when you view this shot its not the kid which makes it a cheap pathetic cry for attention maybe it could be a beautiful shot never said it was not beautiful but it was cheapened and made tacky by choosing to announce show case your baby sucking your boobs in this fashion I would never do that to my child. they have their reasons for doing this everyone is entitled to my opinion and thats fine. bottom line this should not have been made public what you do on your own time privacy is your business but keep it at home don't plant it in our face to notice sure they will be good parents though good luck to the family
I breastfeed my daughter and I think it's natural and nothing to be ashamed of. However, Miranda Kerr is such a B-list model and desperate for attention so it's no wonder she released this photo.

Ok, I just wanted to put this out there. Do we all remember what this woman does for her career? She is a VICTORIA'S SECRET MODEL. We have seen more boob and other parts of her body in ads or while watching the Victoria's Secret fashion show than we do in this photo. It's ridiculous how crazy people are getting about this picture.
disgree above there are far better choices to be made in deciding the manner in which you present your baby. not smart to showcase them breastfeeding. i see what annon above is trying to say. how can you avoid viewing this photo if it is flashed in our face its out there for all to see so do not say don't look if we don't like it we are not given a choice we have no choice unfortunately.

well that's kind of hard when its public right don't tell us not to look we have not choice but to see this its practically shoved down our throats look heres my baby heres my boob like it. see the difference she's made this public where we don't need to see it this is supposed to be a private moment between mother and child its is selfishly being used in the wrong way to grab the attention that her child is eating her breast. many other types of photos could have been used but what gets chosen this tacky cheap photograph the people may be beautiful beautiful but the shot taken chosen is tacky cheap would never exploit my child in this way for pete sake have some decency maybe people just don't understand that nowdays

I had a baby 6 weeks ago. I put makeup on in the hospital. I put makeup on at home before we took any photos. And yes, I even posed for some! I put makeup on everyday! Even with a baby! They do sleep, you know. I think she looked at this photo and found it absolutely beautiful, and wanted to share her happiness with any and everyone. I think it's stunningly beautiful and if you don't like it, don't look at it.

Oh and there is more to not having a epidural than "machoism" or being better than someone else. Epidurals often lead to unnecessary interventions later on and I think it's great she is promoting a more natural birth, when possible, by sharing her story. I don't think it sets up unrealistic expectations, she didn't say it was easy. In the face of designer birth and women having elective c-sections, which is major surgery that is damaging to the body and comes with a hoard of potential complications, it's nice to hear something different. I highly suggest anyone interested in birth check out "The Business of Being Born," it's a fantastic documentary. Oh and she is a Victoria Secret model, why are people commenting as if she chose this moment to be "out there". She is clearly comfortable in her own skin and used to being photographed. And it's not just that this is "natural", it's also an aesthetically beautiful shot...much different than pooping as others have suggested.

It's obvious some people just suck up anything celebs or models do as holy than thy. Well, she has a spare breast, go for it loser.
Maybe Miranda posted this photo (taken by her husband, posted on her blog - NOT taken by professional photographer then SOLD to the media) to make people more aware of normal natural childbirth and the normal natural way of feeding babies. God knows it is needed, one only has to read the comments on here to be made aware fo that. It is good that celebs show pictures of themselves breastfeeding and thell stories about their natural births, so that women and men everywhere can hear about it and learn that you do not have to rush in panic to the hospital to have an obstructed medicalized birth riddled with side effects, and to make you less gullible when "nurses" paid by Nestlé tries to lure you into using formula by giving you free samples and making hints that you cant possible have enough/good enough milk for your baby. And yes, natural drug-free childbirth IS better for both mother and child, breastfeeding IS better than formula, there is no comparison really. The only time to use drugs during birth or to feed your baby formula IS WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS! I'm sorry for all of you that have made poorly investigated choices, or have been duped by people you thought you could trust (for example doctors), or are simply egotistical lazybutts, I feel sorry for all of you who come on here riddled with guilt and misguided anger bashing someone for making an informed and good choice for herself and her baby.

Apparently we've reached a point where as mothers we can't share ANYTHING. We're sharing TMI by having a photo breastfeeding, if you dare say you gave birth naturally, it has to be mean you consider yourself better, and God forbid you put on make-up. From now all, I expect all birth announcements to say "A child just magically appeared in our home. It eats via osmosis." Get over it. It's her blog. I put on make-up for photos I put on my blog as well, and mine wasn't even covered by People and various other tabloids. And - GASP - I not only have breastfeeding photos on display, but would have no problem with the world seeing it. Big whoop, I'm feeding my kid.

It's a beautiful sight to see mom breastfeeding her baby,because I'm pro-breastfeeding. But you cant see the baby's face!!! Congrats on this little miracle!! But show a BETTER PHOTO!!!!
