Jennifer Hudson Joins SJP and More For a Peaceful Night in Oslo

Sarah Jessica Parker and her co-host for the evening, Gerard Butler, coordinated in complementary shades of blue during last night's Nobel Peace Prize Concert held in Oslo, Norway. The stars were joined on stage during the event by performers like Jennifer Hudson, Seal, Kylie Minogue, and Ne-Yo. The concert wraps up this year's Nobel celebrations, with the European Union taking home the top honor.

The European getaway comes as a break after a hectic promotional schedule for Gerard. He made the talk-show-circuit rounds in November on behalf of his surfing flick Chasing Mavericks and recently joined costar Jessica Biel in NYC and LA to chat up their big-screen love story, Playing For Keeps. It seems Gerard's charm couldn't tempt fans into theaters, as the film earned a disappointing $6 million during opening weekend. But 2013 kicks off with another high-profile project from Gerard; he's set to make a cameo alongside Emma Stone, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, and many more in the adult comedy Movie 43.

SJP and Gerard Step Out in Oslo Ahead of the Nobel Peace Prize Concert

Sarah Jessica Parker joined Gerard Butler in Oslo, Norway this morning at a press conference for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. SJP and Gerard are cohosts of this year's star-studded celebration, and they were joined today by fellow stars Jennifer Hudson, Seal, and Ne-Yo. The concert will bring the Nobel festivities to a close, after presidents from the EU's three main institutions were honored with the Nobel Peace Prize Monday.

SJP and Gerard Butler headed to Norway for the annual concert after keeping busy schedules stateside. Sarah Jessica Parker joined Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber at the New 42nd Street Gala in NYC last week, while Gerard has been busy promoting his new film, Playing For Keeps, in which he stars alongside Jessica Biel. In a recent interview, Gerard gushed about working with Jessica, but audiences weren't thrilled with their finished product — the movie tanked at the box office last weekend with only $6 million in ticket sales.

Justin Timberlake Supports Jessica Biel at Her Big Premiere

Jessica Biel donned a long Versace gown on the red carpet at last night's NYC premiere of Playing For Keeps.

Jessica Biel donned a long Versace gown on the red carpet at last night's NYC premiere of Playing For Keeps. She posed for photos solo, as did her costars in the film Gerard Butler and Uma Thurman. Later, though, Jessica had the company of her husband, Justin Timberlake. Jess changed into a hot mint-green Nina Ricci dress to hit the afterparty at the Dream Downtown with JT on her arm.

Jessica and Justin have spent quite a bit of time in NYC since their Italian wedding back in October. She's done double promotional duty with two films out this season, Playing For Keeps and Hitchcock. In one interview, she opened up about the joys of life when you're married to a guy who can cook. Jessica Biel told Elle, "He bakes pies. He's Southern, so he's got all this influence from his grandma. He does a three-layer pie . . . and blueberry crunch cake, which is pretty unbelievable. It doesn't happen all that often, thank god. Otherwise, it would be a big problem."

The movie — which also features Catherine Zeta-Jones, Uma Thurman, and Dennis Quaid — hits theaters this Friday. We recently caught up with Gerard to ask him about his experience playing a dad and his role in casting the film's several gorgeous actresses, including Jessica.

Buzz Time Machine: Hear Gerard Butler Sing in the Phantom of the Opera

Gerard Butler has never been one to paint himself into a corner.

Gerard Butler has never been one to paint himself into a corner. The guy has taken on action, romance, animation, and this week he's doing sports drama in Chasing Mavericks. Butler has tried out so may genres it wouldn't be surprising if you've forgotten about when he starred in the big-screen version of the epic musical The Phantom of the Opera. Check out his duet with Emmy Rossum in the 2004 adaptation, and yes that is him singing.

Movie 43 Trailer: A Filthy Anthology Starring . . . Everyone

I'd love to tell you the full star-studded cast of Movie 43 but I'm afraid we'd be here all day.

I'd love to tell you the full star-studded cast of Movie 43 but I'm afraid we'd be here all day. The trailer for off-the-wall comedy includes Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Anna Faris, Emma Stone, Jason Sudeikis, Chris Pratt, Chloe Moretz, Justin Long, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The film is a collection of 25 different stories, and as far as I can tell, the only common theme is stars behaving badly. Halle Berry blows out the candles on a blind kid's birthday cake, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber bully their teenager, and Gerard Butler is a leprechaun.

A handful of bloated comedies have proven that the megaensemble is a tricky beast, but this has me wondering if the formula might actually work this time. It could be amazing, or it could be an epic fail. The movie opens Jan. 25, and you can watch the NSFW red-band trailer after the jump.

Playing For Keeps Trailer: Gerard Butler Is a Soccer Mom's Dream

Gerard Butler is quickly becoming the go-to sports guru of the movies.

Gerard Butler is quickly becoming the go-to sports guru of the movies. We recently saw him as a reluctant surf coach in the trailer for Chasing Mavericks, and now he's taking his skills to the soccer field — the peewee soccer field, that is. In Playing For Keeps, Butler is a retired soccer player sharing custody of his young son with his ex (Jessica Biel). Once legendary on the field, he's now reduced to shooting sports news auditions from his living room, in his underwear. He's taken up coaching his son's soccer team, and one of the soccer moms (Catherine Zeta-Jones) may have the hookup for a potential job at ESPN.

Full disclosure: I love hearing Butler speak with his native Scottish brogue. I haven't really been into him in romantic comedies, but this seems like it has a bit more heart to it than, say, The Bounty Hunter. The kid is also superadorable, and I'm curious about the romance story lines with Biel and Zeta-Jones. The movie doesn't open until Dec. 7, but you can check out the trailer when you read more.

Chasing Mavericks Trailer: Gerard Butler Is the Mr. Miyagi of Surfing

Jay Moriarty was a famous surfer who was sadly killed in an accident when he was just 22 years old.

Jay Moriarty was a famous surfer who was sadly killed in an accident when he was just 22 years old. You'd never get wind of that tragedy in the trailer for Chasing Mavericks, which is based on his life as a teenager and his rise to surfing stardom. Determined to ride a gargantuan wave at Mavericks (off the coast of Northern California), Jay (Jonny Weston) is taken under the tutelage of veteran surfer Frosty Hesson (Gerard Butler). Though Frosty is initially reluctant to take a kid under his wing, he's soon got Jay practicing holding his breath and diving into treacherous waters.

Gerard Butler doesn't typically take on softer films, and I was pleasantly surprised to watch his onscreen relationship with Weston evolve into a father/son bond. Seeing Jay train to overcome bullies, sharks, and the like all feels a bit familiar, but aren't we all suckers for inspirational sports movies? The movie hits theaters on Oct. 26, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.

Petra Nemcová and Karolina Kurková Join Hot Guys Adrien and Ewan For Cannes Bash

The stars came out to celebrate during the Cannes Film Festival in France yesterday.

The stars came out to celebrate during the Cannes Film Festival in France yesterday. Gerard Butler, Adrien Brody, and Karolina Kurková were just a few of the guests at IWC and Finch's Quarterly Review filmmakers dinner, which was held at the Hotel Du Cap. Model Karolina — who tweeted of the event, "What a night!" — and Petra Nemcová got together for a playful photo, while Gerard met up with pals Robert De Niro, Ewan McGregor, and Adrien. Petra's boyfriend, Sean Penn, wasn't by her side for this bash, though they were together for the Haiti: Carnival in Cannes event. There's been so much excitement at Cannes so far, but there's even more to come, as both Brad Pitt and Kristen Stewart are still expected to hit the red carpet this week.
