Gwyneth Paltrow on Friend Jay-Z (Video)

Hi there, I'm Lauren Bradshaw. Gwyneth Paltrow is talking about her admiration for friend Jay-Z and her love of hip-hop in today's PopSugar Rush. GWYNETH: "Jay is one of the people that I respect most in the world, and he's such an iconoclast in so many ways . . . " Gwyneth Paltrow may just be one of Jay-Z's biggest fans. Gwyneth recently went on Steve Stoute's The Tanning Effect, where she spoke about her close friend and his major influence on pop culture. Gwyneth and her husband Chris Martin first met Beyonce and Jay at a charity event several years ago, and since then the couples have become best friends. GWYNETH: "We just kind of hooked up, and became really close, and they're incredible people. Over the years, they've supported each other on and off stage. Gwyneth joined Jay-Z for a performance at Royal Albert Hall back in 2006 — way before she was ever on Glee — but Chris and Jay also teamed up to perform a New Year's Eve concert last year. Gwyneth was also on hand to celebrate Beyonce's 30th birthday this past September. Chris has called their somewhat unexpected friendship pairing "hilarious," but one thing the couples do have in common? A love of hip-hop. GWYNETH: When I went to LA one summer to work in a restaurant is when I found NWA STEVE: Then you got into the gangster thing. GWYNETH: And that was it [laughs]
