Hunter Parrish has grown up on the Showtime series Weeds. Now, as the 25-year-old embarks on the show's eighth and final season, he's branching out with some new creative efforts all his own. Hunter recently released an EP called Guessing Games, a collection of heartfelt acoustic songs blending musical influences like James Taylor and John Mayer. On the acting front, Hunter's not hiding his desire to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire after losing out on the role of Peeta to Josh Hutcherson. Hunter, who says he's a big fan of the book series, told us he'll "be there" in a heartbeat if he's offered the role. In the meantime, he weighed in on where he hopes things end for his Weeds character, Silas. Check out our chat with Hunter, and find Guessing Games on iTunes now.
Weeds kicks off another season of debauchery on June 27, as we fast forward three years into the future where the Botwins are now doing business in New York. I recently chatted with Hunter Parrish, who plays Silas Botwin on the show, about what kind of shenanigans are in store when Nancy and the gang return to Showtime. He talked about how Silas has changed over the years, what it's like working with guest stars like Martin Short, and whether or not Silas will get a new lady love.
BuzzSugar: What can you tell us about the new season of Weeds that you're particularly excited about?
Hunter Parrish: There's actually a lot that's exciting. We spent all of last season traveling, going all over the place, and this time we're in New York. Well, actually, filming in LA, but getting to do a New York season. Silas gets more heavily involved in the weed business, so that's been really exciting.
BS: This season takes place three years later. How have Silas and Shane grown up?
HP: It's pretty weird; I showed up for the first day on set, and Alexander [Gould] had these big mutton chops on his face. I can't even grow the smallest sideburns! But he's got these huge sideburns, and Silas dyes his hair, so we look a little older, a little different. But it's cool; it's exciting. For the first time on the show I'm playing my own age. I've always been playing two or three years younger, so it's cool to have the maturity and sophistication.
BS: Silas has had a pretty crazy life; how do you relate to him?
HP: Well, my mom doesn't sell weed, so that's different. At least I don't know that she sells weed; she might I guess. It's funny because at the beginning of the series, I said in a few interviews how similar we were, and I think we did start similar. But because of what's happened with the characters and where the writers have taken it, his relationship with his mom is so incredibly difficult, and he found out that who he thought was his dad his whole life isn't actually his dad. He's struggling with things that I can't even begin to understand. So there's a darkness to him that my personal life doesn't really have. So we've actually grown quite dissimilar as the seasons have gone on. But we still share, which I think is the biggest thing, is the same heart and passion for life, and the people around me. And he's really good about that, and really trying to love first.
BS: Speaking of putting love first, is Silas going to get a new love interest this season?
HP: I keep asking them about that! I'm pretty much shirtless in every episode, but none of those include a sex scene or any sort of love scene. So I'm not quite sure that's coming up or if I should expect that. But so far there is no love for Silas.

The Super Bowl was brimming with stars outside Dallas this evening. There were events all weekend from the DirecTV celebrity beach bowl, to Diddy's Avion tequila party, to the Black Eyed Peas halftime show. Christina Aguilera performed the national anthem at the game while Tony Romo and his fiancée Candice Crawford hung out with her brother Chace and 90210's Jessica Lowndes. Owen Wilson tossed around the pigskin, as did Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Check out the movie trailers that premiered during the ads, including creepy Super 8, hot Chris Evans in Captain America, and the ridiculous Transformers 3 teaser.
Ashlee Simpson joined forces with Hunter Parrish in LA yesterday to celebrate the online launch of Solstice Sunglasses. It's a special time for Ashlee and the Simpsons, as her big sister Jessica just announced she's marrying boyfriend Eric Johnson. Many of you think something is fishy considering the timing of Jess's news and her ex-husband Nick Lachey also recently revealing his plans to wed Vanessa Minnillo, but the Simpson clan couldn't be happier. Joe led the pack in expressing how thrilled he is to welcome Eric to the family, and Ashlee said, "Everything is so exciting!" In addition to Jess's pending nuptials, Ashlee and her husband Pete are gearing up to celebrate their son Bronx's big second birthday on Saturday.

George Clooney clasped hands with Elisabetta Canalis at yet another award show in NYC last night, this time for the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures at Cipriani. George walked away with Best Actor for Up in the Air, which he shared with Morgan Freeman for Invictus. Clooney's film also won Best Picture and adorable Anna Kendrick got a statue for Best Supporting Actress — yay! Both of George's leading ladies in the movie were fantastic and hit the red carpet last night, though once again it looked like he only had eyes for his date, who is also making her name as a lingerie model. George also kept us laughing this week with his onstage Mariah Carey crack as he warms up for some possible upcoming acceptance speeches — don't forget to fill out the Golden Globes ballot!

The stars of It's Complicated hit the red carpet in NYC last night for their premiere. Meryl Streep stopped to pose with costars Ali Wentworth and Rita Wilson, who looked amazing in sequined pants and a warm vest. Alec, meanwhile, had the company of his girlfriend Nicole Seidel. Steve chatted with us about competing with Alec for a woman's affections, even on film, saying, "Don't do it!" Another of the film's stars, John Krasinski, shared his plans for the holidays — he's heading home to Massachusetts armed with toys for his nieces and nephews, though he admits he's terrible at wrapping presents. Emily Blunt was by his side looking good in an LBD. Hunter Parrish is likewise prepping to travel, instead road-tripping with his family to his parents' Midwestern home states. Lake Bell and Tina Fey were also out to see the new comedy from Nancy Meyers — stay tuned to PopSugar Rush for video from the star-studded night!
