Inside Rachel Zoe's Closet
Some of the best dressed stars in Hollywood including Jennifer Garner, Keira Knightley, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz and Salma Hayek turn to Rachel Zoe to create their stunning style for the hottest events. She's received a lot of criticism lately for being too thin, having clients that are all too thin and Nicole Richie even blasted Rachel for her unhealthy ways. Rachel is telling her side of the story this month in W Magazine. Here's more:
"There was something that came out about me giving horse pills or diet pills from Mexico to my clients," says Zoe. "Anyone who knows me, they laugh. I'm so drug clueless. If I can get through a glass and a half of wine in a night, that's a momentous occasion. I mean, I take Tylenol once in a while, and that's about it."
Though she was born 10 pounds—"the fattest baby you ever saw in your whole life"—the ultrapetite stylist claims that she has been naturally thin for as long as she can remember. "I'm not going to lie. I don't eat like a pig. I don't diet per se, but I'm one of those people that, when I'm under a lot of stress, I have to remind myself to eat," she says. "You're not going to see me eating crap and junk food, because it doesn't make me feel good. But I eat tons of fish and vegetables. And I would never in a billion years tell anyone to lose weight. Ever."
But an especially nasty posting on Richie's MySpace page paints a different picture. The curiously spelled blurb, widely reported to have been written by Richie and aimed at Zoe, read: "What 35 year old raisin face whispers her order of 3 pieces of asparagus for dinner at Chateau everynight, and hides her deathly disorder by pointing a finger at me?"
"That's kind of below the belt," Zoe huffs, when asked about the posting. "I just need to rise above it and let it go. My teenage drama years were a long time ago, and I certainly don't want to relive them. I'm 35, and I just don't want the drama. I'm tired."

4I think she is older, but these pictures either aren't her, or they are airbrushed (well obviiously anyway) quite a bit. Her facial skin reflects her age a little more then shown here.

but either she is:
1. older than she says she is,
2. a serious meth addict,
3. a serious chain smoker, or
4. an anorexic in denial
... because no one's skin looks that old and hangs that way at 35. If that is natural, I feel sorry for her because she has the worst skin genes ever.
10it's all airbrusing because her forehead looks like a wrinkled prune with all those deep lines. She's so thin now anyone can say they aren't unhealthy at that point is beyond me.

I doubt she's older than she says. She should lie to say she's older than she actually is so she doesn't look so terrible.
Rachel is thinner than Nicole Richie and Rachel has larger bone structure than Nicole. I've seen them side by side.
13I think she's baked herself in the sun too long. And for Nicole to blame anyone for her issues is very immature and unprofessional.

15She's not really very talented if she dresses people the same. You can tell which outfits she picked out because they all fall in the same category. The only time she broadens her horizon is dressing Salma Hayek, so I guess she actually had to shop for those instead of just getting free sample sizes (00, 0, 2) from different designers.

While I don't think Rachel is directly responsible for Nicole's issues and Lindsay's former issues, she had to play a part. It's just curious that almost all her clients drop weight seemingly overnight (Nicole oddly being the exception as hers was gradual) when she starts dressing them. Curious especially because she gets sample sizes for free. It may just be that she's giving them drugs or encouraging them to take drugs (as in cocaine, not trimspa) to slim down.
Rachel probably said something about Nicole, maybe to her family or friends. Why else would she say: "and hides her deathly disorder by pointing a finger at me?"
17I think Rachel has NOTHING to do with Nicole's weight gain.
Nicole wanted to shine on her own without Paris and without any talent to speak of so she went down the thinnification route but took it a step too far. Why can't people accept that Rachel could not have forced Nicole not to eat...she did this on her own.
18Wow, the woman sure can spin it, can't she? She used to have several "society" clients here in New York and she can deny telling her clients to lose weight all she wants, but she has. AND she was the goto girl for coke in the society celeb circle. Oh, and she's older than 35.
19playsindirt, IMHO i don't think nicole's harsh words for rachel were necessarily immature or unprofessional, just a severe case of denial. it's a lot easier for people with eating disorders to try and point fingers at other people than take care of their own issues. doesn't make it okay and i wish they *both* would get help, but it's a question of illness, not simple spite.

22I dont know about this girl, I always though she has to be telling her clients something .Alot of her clients seem to go super skinny around her so who knows? Maybe shes not coming right out and saying "hey fatty lose some weight " but shes probally putting the idea in somewhere. She does look pretty old as well. Sun damage can cause wrinkles as well as a very unhealthy diet, and of course many other bad things . I almost feel bad for girls who are easily influence by the hollywood pressure. She seems like one of them.

26Nicole's words for Rachel were immature and unprofessional in the sense of her public display on her myspace. Nicole could have simply stated that she no longer wished to work with Zoe and left the reason confidential. Instead she wanted to create drama and that is immature. I will agree I misused the word 'talent' when it comes to Zoe, however I feel that these people pay her for a reason and if they felt she was not professional they would not hire her again and again.

31Nicole became very thin when her and Paris had beef. All of a sudden she got attention for being thin, and ironically aquired a stylist around the same time ( Nicole used to dress like Cyndi Lauper in the 80's). Nicole is a control freak and has an addictive personality, I DO NOT blame Rachel for anybody's weight but her own. Nicole Richie sucks

As for her skin, she looks like she didn't protect herself against the sun and may be a bit undernourished. Nicole Richie is (in my opinion) and addict, whether it's pain killers, herione, or meth. Nobody is that thin normally. I have no idea what Zoe looked like in her youth, so i can't say about her (if her weight fluctuated or she's always been thin).

What these people say and do are very different things. I have no doubt that both Nicole and Rachel either a) suffer from serious eating disorders and/or b) abuse drugs that make them thin. Just look at them. Rachel, in all her airbrushed glory, still looks terrible. Naturally thin people do not look unhealthy. I buy that Ellen Pompeo can eat like a pig and won't gain weight. She's VERY thin but she looks healthy. Seeing how the skin hangs from Rachel Zoe's arms in society pics, it's clear that she wasn't made this way. Nicole is another issue. She was on drugs before when she was super thin and gained a LOT of weight after heroin detox. Somewhere about 15-20 lbs ago, she was probably at her ideal. It's hard to tell with her because even now at 85 lbs, her face looks healthy.

45They are both in denial and deserve each other. I would think that there are other talented stylist out there that a star wouldn't have to put up with this "raisin".
46Her look was very in for awhile, but she needs to mix it up or she'll be yesterdays news. She made her way to LA because she was already over with the NY society scene. Her biggest problem is making herself more well known than her clients. That was the turn off with the society brats. They want to look good, look cutting edge, but don't want people to know WHO created their look.
47I liked her style in the beginning. I love oversized bags & sunglasses & yea, even leggings. However, when all of her clients started to look exactly alike, it was clear that she was more into herself thatn her clients. I mean, while all these "starlets" pretty much ARE cookie cutter copies of each other, one would think that they'd like to look somewhat different from each other....

As for the weight & drug issues, there is no doubt in my mind that she encourages her client to drop pounds & since most of them have done it so rapidly, my money in on meth or coke...We all know that LL & Bosworth are cokeheads & that Nicole had a heroin addiction so for her to abuse other drungs is not a stretch...

Will we find the skeletons of the virgins she sacrificed, so their life-essence could be drained and and used to revive her moments-short-of-mummification, corpse-like skin?
49Rachel Zoe strikes me as some middle aged person hitting a midlife crisis thirsting for some time in the lime light. That poor woman is obsessed with celebrities and her weight alike. It's too bad. She should just love herself for who she is. As for Nicole Richie, she's always going to be a cool kick ass person in my eyes.
