Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy battle it out in Identity Thief as two very different people claiming to be the same person. We sat down with the costars in LA recently to talk about their physically demanding fight scenes and the fact that Melissa's role was initially written for a man. Check out our interview to hear how Jason convinced Melissa to sign on for the project — alcohol was allegedly involved — and catch Identity Thief when it hits theaters on Feb. 8.

Identity Thief Trailer: Melissa McCarthy Steals Jason Bateman's Life

Melissa McCarthy: villain? It may sound unlikely, but the explosive trailer for Identity Thief has the comedienne stealing the identity of regular guy Sandy (Jason Bateman) and using his credit to finance her shopping sprees.

Melissa McCarthy: villain? It may sound unlikely, but the explosive trailer for Identity Thief has the comedienne stealing the identity of regular guy Sandy (Jason Bateman) and using his credit to finance her shopping sprees. When Sandy gets notice of court dates he's been missing across the country, he finally realizes why his credit cards are maxed out. He goes to Florida in search of the "hobbit" (Sandy's words, not mine) who's been using his name, but he doesn't quite anticipate getting throat-punched by Diana (McCarthy). His quest for justice soon turns into a dangerous game, complete with car chases and explosions.

I like Bateman, but he always seems to be embodying the same witty and slightly caustic guy. It's no surprise that his character is reminiscent of the one he played in last year's Horrible Bosses, seeing as Identity Thief is also from director Seth Gordon. On the other hand, this is definitely McCarthy like I've never seen her before. Even though she's the antagonist, she has just the right amount of off-the-wall charm to get me to root for her. It even looks like Sandy likes her by the end of the trailer. Identity Thief comes out on Feb. 8, but you can watch the trailer after the jump.

Rachel McAdams was one of the stars who visited Variety's studio at Holt Renfrew during the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday. She wore a sexy black and tan Lanvin dress for the event, which also brought out Eli Roth, Jason Bateman, and Paula Patton. Rachel's been in Canada promoting multiple projects, and she hit the red carpet for the premiere of Passion in a sexy black look last night. Rachel's boyfriend, Michael Sheen, joined her, though the duo didn't pose for photos together. He was also there to support Rachel at the debut of To the Wonder earlier this week. We're watching all the celebrities at TIFF, so make sure to check back until the festival wraps up on Sunday.

It was a star-studded red carpet at last night's premiere of Hit and Run at Regal Cinemas in downtown LA. Dax Shepard, who wrote and directed the film, arrived in style with his leading lady, and fiancée, Kristen Bell, by his side. Kristen rocked a black satin jumpsuit, while Bradley Cooper sported a sexy leather jacket. The stars all took time to sign autographs for fans who were lining the streets before joining castmates Jason Bateman, Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Arnold, Ryan Hansen, and Joy Bryant for group photos. It looked like they had a great time filming since their red carpet reunion was filled with plenty of laughter. We asked the stars how Dax stacked up as a director and Ryan jokingly rated him an 8.5, saying, "He's got some work to do," while Bradley simply said, "He's awesome; he's incredible." Bradley also mentioned he'd love to try his hand at directing soon, too.

Portia de Rossi

Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, and David Cross reunited in LA yesterday to begin filming new episodes of Arrested Development.

Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, and David Cross reunited in LA yesterday to begin filming new episodes of Arrested Development. The cast is getting back together after a six-year break to shoot 10 new episodes that will air in 2013 on Netflix. Jason tweeted a photo from the set accompanied with a message, "First day. Away we go . . ."

Rumors about a possible Arrested Development movie started swirling over a year ago. According to Jason, the Arrested Development reboot promises to be "everything you would want it to be and more." The show's creator Mitch Hurwitz says there's still the possibility of a movie spin-off and future episodes if this season is a hit with fans. Will Arnett is expected to return as his eccentric character Gob Bluth, though he'll be double-booked with his other show, Up All Night, currently shooting their second season. Are you excited for new episodes?

Mansome Trailer: Will Arnett and Jason Bateman Go to the Spa

Documentarian Morgan Spurlock took on the country's growing health epidemic in Super Size Me and the expansive advertising industry in The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, but now he's tackling an even bigger issue: manscaping.

Documentarian Morgan Spurlock took on the country's growing health epidemic in Super Size Me and the expansive advertising industry in The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, but now he's tackling an even bigger issue: manscaping. In the trailer for Spurlock's new film, Mansome, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman work with Spurlock to get to the bottom of why men's maintenance has become more important than ever in recent years, with the help of some celebs as well as everyday guys.

Clearly this movie isn't as serious as the director's previous projects, but it does look kind of hilarious. Arnett and Bateman have perfected their bro-chemistry (thanks to Arrested Development), and I definitely got a kick out of them in mud masks. While I'm still not sure about the balance between funny and fact, I'm happy to listen to Zach Galifianakis wax poetic about facial hair any day. The flick premiered this week at Tribeca, but it won't be open in theaters until May 18. Take a look at the trailer after the jump.

Ian Somerhalder

Ian Somerhalder Celebrates Earth Day and Hopes to Star in 50 Shades of Grey

Ian Somerhalder joined other eco-conscious stars in Santa Monica yesterday for a beachside Earth Day celebration.

Ian Somerhalder joined other eco-conscious stars in Santa Monica yesterday for a beachside Earth Day celebration. Ian's been on the West Coast since last weekend when he and girlfriend Nina Dobrev visited the first round of shows at Coachella. Nina and Ian shared some PDA in the desert and watched acts like Florence + the Machine entertain the crowd.

This morning Ian was back to business in LA and stopped by KISS FM to chat with Ryan Seacrest about The Vampire Diaries, his Ian Somerhalder Foundation, and worldwide phenomenon 50 Shades of Grey. Ryan asked about Ian's interest in playing Christian Grey to which he replied, "Yes, beyond the shadow of a doubt I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!" Ian wouldn't admit who he'd like to see play the role of Anastasia Steele, Christian's love interest, but something tells us there are plenty of ladies who wouldn't mind working with him on the project.
