Would You Like a Relationship Ref?

Jerry Seinfeld's ability to find humor in everyday situations made me love him.

Jerry Seinfeld's ability to find humor in everyday situations made me love him. Now he's hoping that this brand of laugh-at-life humor will make his new show The Marriage Ref a hit. On the show, celebrities listen to married couples describe an intractable argument. The panel includes celebs known for their stable family lives (like Kelly Ripa) and some known for messy divorces (like Alec Baldwin), who then discuss the dilemma and ultimately issue a judgment.

When I saw a commercial I found the premise promising, but after last night's sneak peek, many critics expect the show to be a dud. Still I'm curious how you like the concept of having strangers weigh in on your relationship arguments. When you can't decide what color to paint your walls, where to spend the holidays, or what movie to see on the weekend, would life be easier if you could just present your argument and let a relationship ref pick a winner?

CBS and NBC Collide For a Fun-Filled TCA Weekend

The TCAs kicked off this weekend in Pasadena with everyone buzzing about Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien's future at NBC.

The TCAs kicked off this weekend in Pasadena with everyone buzzing about Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien's future at NBC. Before that news, on Saturday Peter Facinelli chatted about Nurse Jackie, Twilight, and Twitter. We also got to know the adorable new cast of Life Unexpected, followed by the hot Vampire Diaries — check out a sneak peek of what to expect next. The cast couldn't stop gushing about how much they love working together, and Nina Dobrev was even celebrating a very special 21st birthday. When asked about the rumors that we will see werewolves in the upcoming season, Paul Wesley told us he doesn't know but thinks it would be a fantastic idea.

On Sunday it was all about NBC — the Parks and Recs cast had the whole room laughing, joking about everything from Twitter to the show's critical turnaround in season two, and when asked about a possible crossover with 30 Rock, Amy said, "Well I want to do something with Lost, but they're not NBC." Jerry Seinfeld also took the stage to introduce his new show The Marriage Ref, which follows ordinary couples who need help solving arguments and already has celebrity guest lineups including Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, and Eva Longoria. Of course Jerry couldn't get away without questions on Jay and Conan, to which he said, "I hope Conan stays on NBC, I think he's terrific." We also finally got a chance to check out Ron Howard's Parenthood, which looks great despite cast changes and drama.

At night the stars from NBC hit the red carpet to celebrate the network. Amy Poehler, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Rashida Jones looked beautiful in black, while Community and Mad Men star Alison Brie added a little pink to her red carpet look. We spoke with Alison, who was excited to talk about Jack Black's appearance this Thursday's episode and what she hopes we see from Trudie in Mad Men's next season — more on that later from Buzz. The casts from The Office, Heroes, and Chuck also mingled with each other over cocktails. There's lots more to come, so stay tuned for updates on Twitter.

Seinfelds Prevail Over Sneaky Chef in Lawsuit

She may have a famous comedian for a husband, but that's not the only reason Jessica Seinfeld is laughing all the way to the bank.

She may have a famous comedian for a husband, but that's not the only reason Jessica Seinfeld is laughing all the way to the bank. Yesterday, a federal judge tossed out another author's claims that Seinfeld had copied from her cookbook. Seinfeld made a name for herself with Deceptively Delicious, a cookbook that encourages tricking kids into eating healthier food.

Six months before Seinfeld's tome was published, Missy Chase Lapine, author of kiddie tome The Sneaky Chef, warned Seinfeld not to print Deceptively Delicious, citing content similarities. When the book hit the press, Lapine sued the Seinfelds on counts of defamation and plagiarism. The judge ruled that the works are distinct, and that Jessica's book has a "completely different feel." She did leave open claims of defamation against the defendant's husband, Jerry Seinfeld, who made fun of Lapine on Letterman.

While Jerry Seinfeld probably shouldn't cracked a public joke about Lapine, I believe the right decision was made — but maybe that's just because I'm partial to the Seinfelds. Do you think justice was served?

The Cast of Seinfeld Puts Their Reunion on the Cover of EW

We've known about the Seinfeld reunion on the upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm for a while now, but there's something about seeing the foursome all together again in Entertainment Weekly that's making me feel extra nostalgic.

We've known about the Seinfeld reunion on the upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm for a while now, but there's something about seeing the foursome all together again in Entertainment Weekly that's making me feel extra nostalgic. (It's almost enough to make me forget about that whole Michael Richards incident from a few years back — almost). In the article, the cast dishes about what we can expect from their stint on Curb (including a revisit to Jerry's apartment and Monk's diner!) and how it feels to have the gang back together. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus on being back together: "It’s the anti-reunion reunion, and I’d like to copyright that."
  • Jason Alexander on playing George again: "Just before we shot that scene, I said to Jerry and Julia, ‘I don’t know if I can be George. I haven’t tried him on in a while,' and it was freaky how it just came right back out."
  • Michael Richards on seeing his former costars again: "I did feel like I was in the company of good friends. It's like, Larry and Jerry are in the front seat, Julia and Jason are in the backseat, and I'm back there in the corner and I'm like a big dog. The window's open, and my head's hanging out the window and I'm feeling all that good air on my face. And I'm just so happy that we're all together, going someplace."

I've drifted in and out of watching Curb for the last few seasons, but, like many of you, I can't wait to see the Seinfeld crew again. Jerry and Larry David also make it clear that there won't be another reunion, so this should be one for the books. Giddyup.

Jerry Seinfeld will be the first guest on The Jay Leno Show, and the guys have already started hanging out before the big night.

Jerry Seinfeld will be the first guest on The Jay Leno Show, and the guys have already started hanging out before the big night. Check out the clip below where Jerry shows off his Porsche and chats with Jay at the racetrack. His late night appearance is just the beginning, since we'll be welcoming Jerry back to the small screen on the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Like tons of other devoted fans, I dreamed of a Seinfeld reunion when the show ended, but I'm wondering if people still love Jerry after all these years off the air. What do you think about his upcoming TV appearances — excited or over it?

John Mayer suited up and grabbed his guitar to perform at Susan and Tony Bennett's Exploring the Arts Gala, a fundraiser for school music programs, in NYC last night. Whoopi Goldberg played hostess for the evening and immediately pegged John as her new crush after his performance. John's Summer tour may be over, but he was happy to participate in the charity event, saying,"There's 12-year-old John Coltranes and Miles Davises walking around. They just don't know it yet." Sounds like John is ready to embrace some competition from the talented up-and-comers.

Who Wins: Microsoft's Seinfeld Ads or Apple's Mac vs. PC Ads?

Though the second Microsoft ad featuring Jerry Seinfeld is a lot funnier than the first, I can't help but feel that it's still lacking . . . direction? Humor? As a die-hard Seinfeld fan, I'm disappointed that these spots aren't as "Jerry" as his humor on the show was, and even more disappointed because I don't really know what Microsoft is trying to say.

Contrast that with their rival Apple, who've spun the Get a Mac ad campaign off the notion that Mac users are cool and PC users are, well, John Hodgman, and I have to call Apple as the winner again. I get the point, they don't meander, and they entertain me.

Now putting aside your preference for Apple or Microsoft, tell me, which ads do you like more?
