Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) may be down for the count, but Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Hit-Girl (Chloë Moretz) are not on their own in the red band trailer for Kick-Ass 2. The trailer for the sequel to 2010's Kick-Ass reveals the superhero duo is hitting the streets again to fight crime in New York City. This time, they have to fight the original movie's Chris D'Amico (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who's been reborn as baddie The Mother F%&*^r. Good thing they have fellow caped crusader Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey) and his loyal canine companion by their side.
I'm so excited for this movie — Hit-Girl is one of my favorite superhero characters of all time, and now that she's on her way into adolescence, I think her skills (and foul mouth) are only going to get more awesome. I also find that Carrey is at his best playing flamboyant characters like this, and I can't wait to see what he adds to the team. Kick-Ass 2 opens Aug. 16, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.
Olivia Wilde, Steve Carell, and Jim Carrey joined up to premiere The Incredible Burt Wonderstone in LA yesterday. Olivia wore a stunning black Gucci gown to pose for photos while her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, bypassed the red carpet and headed straight into the event at the famed Chinese Theatre. Steve, meanwhile, posed with his wife, Nancy. Other celebrity attendees included magician David Copperfield, Melissa Joan Hart, and Steven Tyler.
The Hollywood debut comes just a few days after the cast flew out to Austin to screen the film at SXSW and less than 24 hours after Olivia Wilde's interview in Marie Claire came out. In the magazine feature, Olivia spoke about her relationship with Jason and her 2011 divorce from Italian aristocrat Tao Ruspoli. She said, "I'm so grateful for the pain and the heartbreak [from the divorce]. It gave me the courage to leave and brought me to the great love of my life."
Steve Carell, Olivia Wilde, and Jim Carrey gathered in Austin, TX, last night for the world premiere of their new comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The screening was the first to be held during the film section of the 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival in Texas. The red-carpet reunion for the trio came before they headed inside the city's Paramount Theatre for the screening and afterward a question-and-answer session. In the film, both Steve and Jim play magicians, and last night, Jim spoke about his interest in magic. He said, "I've always had this weird relationship with magic. I think it's fascinating and yet it annoys me because I can't figure it out." The movie is out on US theaters next Friday March 15 — make sure to check out the Incredible Burt Wonderstone trailer!
Elton John's annual Oscar party benefiting his AIDS Foundation drew plenty of big names to the Pacific Design Center in Hollywood last night. Britney Spears showed off her new brunette hair color, while Miley Cyrus stepped out in a sexy white backless gown. Heidi Klum donned a revealing gold Julien Macdonald number and joined Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Jaime King, and more. After they posed on the carpet, the good times continued inside Elton's party for Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, and their friends. Miley even tweeted a fun photo of herself and Kelly kissing Elton with the caption, "Love this!"

It's been three years since Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) suited up in Kick-Ass, but the homegrown superhero is back, and we have the first peek at Kick-Ass 2. This time, our titular hero is no longer an amateur. He's down a partner since Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) got busted, but he's joined by a new vigilante team headed by a former mobster, called Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey). That's Carrey in the picture, looking very patriotic (it's kind of as if Captain America had to make his own uniform and only had his dad's old army duds to work with). I can't wait until more pictures come out, particularly of Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (whose previous alter ego, Red Mist, has been reborn as The Mother F%&*^r), but you can check out this image and the full-size version for now when you read more.
If you're thinking you could use a little bit of magic in your life, the trailer for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone might be just the cure. Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi star as Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton, an old-fashioned magician team who have lost their magic touch, so to speak, with the Las Vegas crowds. It might be their goofy hair that's driving audiences away, but it's probably the hip new guy in town, a Criss Angel-type (Jim Carrey) stuntman whose tricks include sleeping on hot coals overnight. Olivia Wilde also stars as a magician's assistant.
Despite The Incredible Burt Wonderstone's semidazzling tricks, I'm not that enthusiastic about this movie. I like Carell and Carrey (who starred together in Bruce Almighty), but there's something in the trailer that's lacking a little pizzazz. However, I am looking forward to Alan Arkin as the sage magician. The movie opens March 15, and you can watch the trailer when you read more.
Fall is here and celebrities are kicking off the season with hard work on sets around the world. This week, we spotted Jim Carrey in full character for Kick-Ass 2 in Toronto, and Jennifer Aniston sporting a pair of glasses in New Mexico while filming We're the Millers. In NYC, Mila Kunis and Robin Williams made a splash in the East River to shoot a near-drowning scene for The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, while Leonardo DiCaprio cruised on a yacht as he worked on The Wolf of Wall Street. Stella McCartney's annual Spring preview brought out a range of celebrities to the designer's NYC boutique yesterday. Anne Hathaway, sporting the short-haired look she assumed for her role in Les Misérables, said hello to Stella and made the rounds with her fiancé, Adam Shulman. The role of Fantine in Les Mis is the latest in a series of amazing parts for Anne, including her stint as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. If you're an Anne fan, show her some love in the PopSugar 100 before the contest ends this weekend.
Amy Poehler wore bright orange to check out the bash and caught up with fellow actors Jim Carrey and Greta Gerwig. There were plenty of other Stella fans, many of which brought their kids, to see her Resort '13 designs. Lauren Hutton swung by, as did Solange Knowles with her son, Juelz. The backyard was decked out with a lemonade stand, Belvedere drinks for the adults, balloons, and even bubbles.
Jim Carrey is the latest guest star to grace 30 Rock in this week's episode, and by the looks of these photos, his appearance is hardly going to be understated. Check out the stills from the episode "Leap Day" to see Carrey's bizarre costume (which he's about to tear off in one pic), along with a look at another guest: Andie MacDowell, who's playing Carrey's wife.
