Legendary director John Hughes passed away earlier this morning, after suffering a heart attack. The man behind films like 16 Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and The Breakfast Club was in NYC visiting family and friends. He was 59. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
This is SOOOO sad!!
1This is awful.I grew up with his movies.Love him.So sad.
2oh god!so sorry!
3I love The Breakfast Club.
:_( too sad. and scary... this is how old my dad is
4A little bit of my teen years just died, too....
5I feel the same - a bit of my teen years died - his movies bring back wonderful memories and when I'm flipping the channels I just can't pass them by. Too, too young. Condolences to his friends and family.
6Wow that is so sad...I loved almost all of his movies, especially She's Having a Baby, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, and the Breakfast Club. He will be missed
7My youth is dead.
This year officially sucks, so many legends passing away
8Nooooo!!!! His movies are my absolute favorites. 59 is so young. So sad for his family.
9This is sooo sad! I will always love his work!
10He basically defined the 80s. I feel bad for his passing and wished he would have directed some movies this decade instead of just semi-retiring so early. A good chunk of my childhood memories are attributed to him.
11Super sad I loved his movies. It's nearly impossible to pass one of them as I'm flicking through the channels. It's going to make my weekend plans to go to the Hollywood Outdoor Cinema to see Pretty in Pink a bit sad.
12So sad. He is my favorite director.
13RIP, his movies are classic.
14So very sad. His movies are my all time favorites.
15I just gasped out loud seeing this! So sad!!
Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The
Breakfast Club were, and still are, my top fave movies.
16Ohh how sad! I feel the same as you Papaver....end of eras all over the place this year
17He was also behind Home Alone, Trains Planes and Automobiles... all my favorite movies from growing up (though most were made before I was actually born). So sad.
18the breakfast club is one of my favourite movies ever, molly ringwald was so gorgeous and so cool in 16 candles. I agree a part of my 80's youth just died too.
19So sad.
Whenever The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles is on I have to stop what I'm doing and
watch. He will be missed.
