John Mayer and His Rock Contemporaries Jam Out With Lots of Love

John Mayer joined an impressive list of rockers in East Rutherford, NJ, last night to celebrate late musician Levon Helm at what was billed as the "Love For Levon" benefit concert. John didn't lend his vocals to the night's performances, though he did play guitar during "Tears of Rage" while Ray LaMontagne belted out the Bob Dylan classic. John's got another philanthropic appearance planned, offering fans a chance to hang out with him and volunteer on a project for veterans.

John's been laying low since his last vocal surgery, but his love life's still in the news. He's enjoyed an on-again-off-again relationship with Katy Perry, and is still embroiled in a war of words with ex Taylor Swift. In John's June interview with Rolling Stone, he spoke about the song she allegedly penned about him, "Dear John," saying, "It was a really lousy thing for her to do. . . . I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting." She recently issued a rebuttal. Taylor fired back at John and told November's Glamour, "How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about."
