Jon Stewart Takes a Powerful Stand on Ferguson

The killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown by a police officer has incited protests and discussion since its occurrence in Ferguson, MO, on Aug. 9. Jon Stewart (who had been on hiatus) recently addressed the issue on The Daily Show, criticizing the coverage of the situation by other television hosts including Fox News stars Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. Jon shared his thoughts on white privilege and the coverage of the incident in the media. Stewart said, "Every person of color in this country has faced an indignity; from the ridiculous to the grotesque to the sometimes fatal, at some point in their, I'm going to say, last couple of hours — because of their skin color." Jon then went on to discuss the existence of racism in the United States, including the experience of one of his own producers. Watch Jon's full comments above.
