Joy Bauer Warns Dieters Not to Eat the Same Meals Daily

Do You Eat the Same Meals Daily?

Are you one of the millions of Americans following a diet right now? If so, you may be chowing down the same ho-hum eats day after day in hopes of dropping a pound or two . . . or 10. The Today Show nutritionist, Joy Bauer, recently doled out some advice that I thought was worth echoing.

She warns dieters not to repeat the same meal two days in a row, even if it's healthy and low-fat. The change in menu will keep one from getting too bored with their eating habits and help them stay the path and meet their weight loss goals.

Do you have a meal time routine that stays the same or do you change up your food choices every day?

Although my breakfasts and lunches are pretty much the same everyday, I like to try and mix it up at dinner time. Meal planning has become super important at our house and helps us get creative at least once or twice a week. -Kati Mora, MS, RD, Kellogg's FiberPlus(R) Wellness Advocate

Hahah yes I eat the same thing evryyyy day: Breakfast- 1.5 slices of whole-wheat bread, hardboiled egg Lunch- 1.5 slices of whole-wheat bread Snack- Alpen bar light, half an apple Dinner- 1/2 cup rice, 1 cup steamed veggies, 1/2 cup lean meat I lost 30 pounds on this high-carb diet (:

Um, I live alone. It's pretty hard to mix it up TOO much when you're cooking for one most weekdays. I usually make HUGE batches of soups, stews and beans and freeze them in smaller batches. I'll get some "sale veggies" and add this to my usual soup/salad or burrito routine during the week.

I typically eat the same thing everyday with the exception of dinner and snacks. My breakfast is a green monster with a fruit, my snacks are different fruits (like grapes, melon, banana apple etc), my lunch a berry parfait with granola or cereal with or without yogurt and honey. Dinner's are typically veggies with a grain or bean and maybe an added protein like eggs or tuna fish or veggie burgers. i tend to mix up dinner :) I enjoy it because I enjoy the array of fruits and veggies i eat.

I totally eat some of the same things daily. Breakfast is oatmeal, every single morning. My snack is always the same. I often will try to plan sometime different and then I feel down because what I really wanted was my same snack. I'm just obsessed with green monsters! I'm just a creature of habit and I really like certain foods and can't get enough of them! It makes trying new things hard, because I start craving an old favorite and end up just making it. But hey, I've been able to keep off the 90+ pounds I've lost, so I'm good.

I eat Greek yogurt with honey and berries for breakfast almost everyday. Lunch is usually a salad. Dinner is where I mix it up.

Hmm... I'm SO boring! haha. I eat the same thing/s for most meals... the only one I vary is dinner, mostly. weekdays- I ALWAYS have yogurt for breakfast and pretty much always tuna salad for lunch. For dinners, I switch between steak and vege, fish and vege or prawns and vege Weekends, I will have an omelette for breakfast and maybe cheesy cauliflower for lunch, followed by usual dinner option. If I give myself too many options, I make bad choices... I find it easier to stick to my routine. I lot 66lbs doing this... so I call BS on this 'warning'... LOL, but I know I am probably odd, and maybe not everyone could stick to this.

I don't eat exactly the same foods every single day, but I rotate through a few meals that I know I like and that are healthy. I generally eat the same foods for breakfast and lunch, but for dinner, I switch it up between soup, tuna sandwiches, etc. And I have different snacks, too. Sometimes airpopped popcorn; sometimes fruit and yogurt; sometimes a bowl of cereal and yogurt...just depends on my mood.

I eat pretty much the same things for breakfast and lunch - though for lunch I vary my salad toppings (e.g. tuna v. egg). This is easy to stick to during the week but I find I mix things up a little more on weekends.

How blessed we are when we can decide if we want to eat the same thing over or have something different! I recently did a 5 day diet of beans, rice and veggies through my church, to simulate what most of the people in the world have to live off every day. I tell ya, that gets old really quickly!!!

I can't eat the same thing every day. I have tried that but it's so hard for me! I do have go-to meals for the times when I can't figure out what to make that will fit into my calorie goal but I don't use them every day.

I change it up regularly. I enjoy so many foods that I couldn't limit myself to the same thing everyday, I would feel like I am missing out. I also vary my workouts so what I eat on a particular day is dependent on how I will be exercising that day too.

Both? My breakfasts tend to vary between 3-4 meal choices. For lunches/dinners, also both. On MWF, the same meal, and on Sun, Tues, Thurs, Sat I change it up. That way on MWF I get a healthy dinner, Tues, Thurs, Sat I get a healthy lunch, and in between I get a variety so I don't get bored. Not that my "non-healthy" meals are unhealthy, to the contrary, they are considered very healthy. But being veg, I realized that unless I eat a "full indian meal" pretty frequently, then I get dizzy, no matter how hard I try to follow the food pyramid of healthy choices.

Not daily, but weekly, yes! I love salmon and eat it at least once during the week.

I usually eat oatmeal with some type of berry every morning, and then I usually make a big batch of some meal on Sundays and eat it for lunch each day that week. For dinner I have 10 or 15 go-to meals. I guess I am a routine queen!

for the past two years i've basically eaten the same things every day, just switching up when throughout the day i eat them... i still haven't gotten bored! I guess I'm just lucky that way but I'm too lazy/limited with time to come up with anything new and equally healthy

I mix it up for lunch and dinner, but I usually get into a routine for breakfast. For a while, it was bagels with cream cheese, then fruit salad. Right now, I like a protein shake--a chocolate milk treat every day. :)

I actually am a "routine machine". I have been this way my whole life. It used to drive my mom crazy when I was little actually. I would ask her for the same thing day after day!

I have certain go-to meals I'll make when time/groceries/imagination is limited, but I usually don't subject my husband to them more than once a week. . . . I had a few weeks when I couldn't think of anything better for lunch than a little personal pizza and a big salad, but I never got bored of it.
