Kate Middleton and Prince William proudly wore red poppy pins as they met with poppy sellers at London tube stations ahead of Poppy Day in England. The two rode a public bus with several other Poppy Day VIPs and arrived at the High Street subway station to chat with volunteers with the Royal British Legion, one of the charities that sells red poppies to raise funds for members of the British Armed Forces and their families. The red poppies are popular ahead of Remembrance Day (the British version of what we call Veterans Day), and many celebrities can be seen wearing the red pins ahead of Nov. 11. The Duchess of Cambridge braved the chilly weather in a red coat by L.K.Bennett (which she previously wore to an event in 2011), black tights, and matching black heels, while the Duke of Cambridge wore a simple navy suit. It looked as if Kate was sporting a new hairstyle, opting for a center part rather than her usual side part. While chatting with her fellow commuters, Kate revealed that she has flown a plane before. She told a group of men from the Royal Air Force, "My grandfather flew planes. I've had a few lessons on fixed wing." Kate's grandfather Peter Middleton was a pilot with the RAF.

Prince William recently left his post as a search and rescue pilot with the RAF to focus on his royal duties. William has been slowly increasing his royal profile over the past month, including taking part of his first investiture service several weeks ago and representing the queen this week while meeting with the president of South Korea during a state visit. William and Kate have been increasing their royal duties ever since they welcomed Prince George in July.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Poppy Day visit wasn't the only Remembrance Day-related visit that was on the schedule for the younger members of the royal family. Prince Harry attended a remembrance service at Westminster Abbey today with Prince Philip. The young royal was clad in his Household Calvary Cloak Order and looked somber while walking into the church. This marks the first time that Harry has done a joint engagement with his grandfather.
