The Royal Tour — Now With Puppies and More George!

Apr 15 2014 - 7:02pm

Two princes are better than one! The latest royal tour [1] stop brought Prince William, Prince George, and Kate Middleton to Wellington, where the British royals made their last stop in New Zealand before boarding a plane for Australia. Braving some rainy weather, royal watchers finally got the father-son moment we've been waiting for when Prince William carried Prince George to the airplane. While at the Royal New Zealand Police College just outside Wellington, William and Kate also held onto some adorable puppies that will one day be police dogs, and a little girl handed Kate a stuffed-animal dog for Prince George. It was royally adorable!

The police college has strong ties to the royal family, as it was opened by Prince Charles in 1981, and Queen Elizabeth II gave the college its royal title in 1986. During William and Kate's visit, the pair met with training police recruits and checked out a policing and dog-handling demonstration, and a large part of their time was dedicated to paying tribute to 29 officers who were lost in the line of duty. Following their stop, the royals headed back to Wellington to meet with members of the public and sign the City of Wellington's Visitors Book. Afterward, they made their way to the airport to catch a flight to Sydney, where the Australian leg of the royal tour is set to start with a visit to the Sydney Opera House and a speech from Prince William. Keep reading for all the best pictures from the couple's final stop in New Zealand, and then be sure to check out the best moments from the royal tour [2] so far!
