Kate Middleton's Children's Hospice Visit Will Warm Your Heart

Jun 19 2014 - 7:39am

Kate Middleton made a second solo outing this week on Thursday, visiting Treehouse Hospice for the UK's Children's Hospice Week [1]. Just one day after learning about her grandmother's history and Morse code at Bletchley Park [2], the Duchess of Cambridge wore a pink paisley-printed Diane von Furstenberg dress as she visited with sick children and some of the hospice's staff in Ipswitch, England. After seeing children at Treehouse, Kate released a heartfelt statement about the impact her visits have on her.

"Around the clock support is crucial for children receiving palliative care. They and their families often need help every hour of every day, both in hospices and at home. As Patron of EACH, I have seen first-hand this remarkable and varied work and just how vital the support of staff and volunteers can be to the families of children with life-limiting conditions. It has been wonderful to see the fantastic public support for Children's Hospice Week over the last few days. Please continue supporting your local children's hospice in whatever way you can."

Kate has been the East Anglia's Children's Hospices organization's royal patron since January 2012, and this isn't her first visit with sick children this year. During the royal tour in April, she went to the Rainbow Place Children's Hospice in New Zealand [3], bonding with kids and families during play and art therapy.
