Kate Middleton picked a breathtaking Alexander McQueen gown for her royal wedding dress. Kate, who is now Princess Catherine — or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge — arrived at Westminster Abbey just minutes ago and walked down the aisle to meet her groom, Prince William. The gorgeous bride stunned in an English and French Chantilly lace gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. She wore ivory duchesse satin shoes that were also handmade by the team at McQueen. Kate accessorized the custom look with a silk tulle veil and a Cartier tiara, which was lent to Kate by the queen. The bride wore diamond earrings, a gift from her parents, by Robinson Pelham, which were inspired by the Middleton family's new coat of arms. She carried a bouquet of myrtle, lily of the valley, sweet william, and hyacinth, all of which hold significance to the royal family and the Middleton family. Kate's sister, Pippa, also wore an ivory McQueen gown, and earrings from the same jeweler, and assisted the bride with her train. Kate met Prince William at the altar, where he whispered "you look beautiful" to his stunning future wife.

I was disappointed with the dress and didn't like it. I thought it looked very old fashioned and the modern twist was lost. I think she could have made more of an effort. The make- up and hair didn't look great either.

The dress was perfection. Yes, it does bring Grace Kelly to mind, but it is a more modern take on it, giving us a glimpse of the bride´s wonderful figure despite the full skirt. I think she was very right in choosing something classic which is not going to look dated after 20 years. Diana and Sarah Ferguson both made that mistake, whereas Kate´s look is definitely more timeless. I don´t think I have ever seen a more beautiful royal wedding dress.

I love the dress, but as the bride of the future prince of England, I wish it didn't look almost exactly like another iconic dress. That style will forever be the "Grace Kelly" - and an iconic bride like Kate Middlton should have done her own thing with her own legacy, not replicate another huge dress so closely. But she looked great and nice job not changing up her look too much as far as hair and makeup, I hate it when brides don't look like themselves on their weddings.

I think Princess Catherine's dress was BEAUTIFUL and it fit perfectly. She looked amazing. She was poised and graceful. Stunning! I think it's unfair to compare her to Princess Diana. She was SO young (20 yrs. old) when she married Prince Charles. At 29 Princess Catherine knows what she likes and wears it well. Princess Diana's dress was not so great but she developed into a fashion icon by the time she was in her late 20's. Princess Diana looked so overwhelmed at the wedding. Princess Catherine was so graceful and at ease. That comes with maturity.

Yes the moment I saw her dress I teared up and instantly thought of Princess Grace Kelly. What a connection to another "common" girl who became a Princess. This wedding did not disappoint.

Agree with #2. Of course she looks stunning and happy, but not my favorite choice of dress, makeup or hair. Wish she'd worn it back, especially with those dramatic sleeves.

She looked so elegant and classy. Simple understated elegance. Her make-up was perfect, very natural and fresh. I would have loved to see her with an updo, but she always wears her hair down, and she probably wanted to look like herself in such a special occasion. I also think that the dress looked like Grace Kelly's dress. Prince William looked so handsome and so in love. This is a couple that seem genuinely in love with each other. I loved that they kissed twice.

Staff is laying it on a little thick this morning. The dress is ok, but really not that special. Something slicker would have looked better. She is a stunning girl though.
