Kate Moss showed up to tonight's Costume Institute Gala as expected in a turban and on the arm of Marc Jacobs. As two of the night's three hosts, along with Justin TImberlake, she and Marc were among the first to hit the red carpet. Kate's certainly more covered up than the last time we saw her, but sometimes more is actually less. Tell Fab how you feel about the look and here — is the turban too much or loving it?
Seriously, it's fashion. Why not go all out?
1Too Much Channeling Joan Crawford,maybe.
2looks like a shiny shower cap..
3Dynasty anyone?
4i don't really like it but it's a costume gala and she should go for it
5It looks ridiculous. Sure it's a costume gala but don't you still want to look good? And be talked about in a good way?
6I know it's a costume gala, but she looks like a tranny.
7When I read "turban" I was expecting something a lot more over the top. This isn't too bad.
8its unique i hate her but i love the outfit
9It isn't too bad...i guess she was able to pull it off.
10Very 80's but its not horrible.
11First of all, just because her head is wrapped up in material, does not mean she is wearing a turban - to assume so is offensive to people who actually wear turbans for their religious faith! Second of all, she looks ridiculous, as she always does.
12Political correctness, here we go!
Lighten up people! It's in a turban style, it can be
called a turban, let's not get all technical about it.
13ANyway, I think it looks cute and I am not even a Kate fan. Plus, it's a costume gala, you're supposed to wear such outrageous things.
Actually, let's get technical, what the hey. Check out #2.
From Mirriam Webster online:
tur·ban Listen to the pronunciation of turban
Pronunciation:
\ˈtər-bən\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle French turbant, from Italian turbante, from Turkish tülbent, from Persian dulband
Date:
1588
1: a headdress worn chiefly in countries of the eastern Mediterranean and southern Asia especially by Muslims and made of a cap around which is wound a long cloth
142: a headdress resembling a turban ; specifically : a woman's close-fitting hat without a brim
3: a rolled stuffed fillet of fish
I think she looks fabulous here. I love it.
15Kate Moss just hasn't been looking good lately.. that turban is hideous
16shower cap and a shiny towel wrap..
17I think this is the perfect ocasions where celebrities can wear as crazy things as they want, I mean. It's the Gala Institute. Everything is allowed in name of fashion right?
18I mean, where would she wear something like this instead without looking out of place??
i think the outfit is great. we all knew that she was going to wear a turban so that's nothing surprising. i actually like the whole look.
19Kate's look was gorgeous in person. You have to see the front and back. Perhaps it doesn't photograph well, but she was certainly best-dressed last night. She has a killer back and legs. Gorgeous!
20kate is stunning at the met. what a knock-out!
21Urgh - her outfit is just plain ugly, even if its not over the top, given the venue. I never understood why she was so admired, what with her extremely unpleasant face and very crooked legs. Calvin Klein, like Picasso, needed a muse, and she was it - but just like many of Picasso's muses, she's just not beautiful.
22People who don't like the turban don't understand fashion and probably have no clue who Paul Poiret is.
23I'm glad someone finally has the balls to wear this style.
Seeing as it's a costume gala, it's totally appropriate. Very old school glam.
