Katherine Bows Out of the Emmy Running — Gracious or Arrogant?

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley grabbed lunch in LA yesterday, but it was the Emmys that had everyone talking. We mentioned that Katherine pulled her name out of the Emmy running when she said, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention. In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials." Sounds a little like she's scorning her own writers' material, but maybe she just felt undeserving. What do you think of her move — gracious or arrogant?

oh no an attractive woman with a brain and an opinion what a bitch *rolls eyes*. I wonder what everyone's reaction would be if a man said this... And for the record I agreed with what she said about Knocked Up... I think she's a strong intelligent women and people shouldn't be labelling her as an arrogent bitch just coz she's not a fake tart who smiles and nods and says everything's wonderful like some of those other actresses.

I think it was a bold move. To me it sounds that she is saying in her eyes she was undeserving. As a perfectionist, I feel like even though her statement was a little arrogant the meaning I took away was gracious. She didn't say she was going to get it but by being nominated it means there is a chance she would, by taking her name out, that chance is eliminated. She was not arrogant to assume she might get the emmy - she was one of the people up for it.

she has NEVER appealed to me. she has always seemed arrogant and just plain bitchy. she seems to think she's more sought after than she actually is. i don't think she's appealing in the big screen---she seems to work more for television, but honestly, i have never seen her show so maybe she's not cut out for that either.

If it's the writing that supposedly would cause her loss, then perhaps she needs to give her previous Emmy to the writers that won it for her. What an ass.Not real impressed w/her or her hair color that's all wrong for her.Plus she's one of those skinny-dumpy people who smoke instead of working out, & have squishy, no-muscle-tone bodies. Yuk.But she has been in some good movies, I'll give her that.

I give her kudos for having the balls to say the writing was shitty, and its fine with me if shes confident enough to say that with better writing she could win. However, if she truly believes the writing to be bad enough to mention it to the press then she should quit the show. The show has sucked balls since the second season anyways and its not getting any better. It sounds like she knows what needs to be done. Honestly, if shes going to keep cashing their paychecks then she should shut the fuck up and accept her nomination.

Aside from a very few that commented here, I just want to say that you all should get a life.All that you can do is find flaws, you all act like bullies. I don't see the fun in this, and what is wrong with a person speaking their own mind.The only thing that happens is that when Katherine speaks the media pounce and make it a huge deal which it isn't. Katherine is not allowed to speak her mind but the media is and apparently so are you guys here spouting hurtful rude words. A big double standard if you ask me.Which is truely very sad and disrespectful.Why even bother reading anything regarding to Katherine Heigl, if you don't like her move on.That is why they created a mouse, you can click on something else that might interrest you.

said a lot of this in a previous post but here goes again: granted most writing was weaker due to the strike this year. maybe if she gave that caveat she would be given a pass. but it sounds to me like she was straight slagging off the creators of the show. this appears to me to reveal a pattern by her - which could backfire wrt her career people could see this as someone who may be "difficult" to work with or threaten success of projects. in my knowing who she was as an entertainer the only thing on her cv that she has not slagged off is 27 dresses and that under seige 2: dark territory movie ('member that?). never saw roswell.

Oh and the only time I ever saw Emmy worthy acting was the season finale of season 2, the episode where Denny died, she did a good job there but that's about it.
