Katie and Tom met while she was busy promoting Batman, and he was on a world tour promoting War of the Worlds. Since then, Katie hasn't worked much. She's been busy as a mom, a bride and BFF to Posh and J Lo. We were looking forward to Katie getting back to work in The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman, but she's apparently backed out due to scheduling conflicts with another project. Here's more:

According to the Wall Street Journal, the studio is now searching for an actress to replace Holmes in the big budget picture, the salary for which will likely be in the $1 million to $2 million range.
"Katie was offered [Dark Knight] but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts,” Julie Polkes, a spokeswoman for Holmes, tells the WSJ. “She was in the process of negotiating for another project. In addition, when she returns to work, she would like to tackle a new character."
The new project she’s leaning towards? Mad Money, a comedy about three female Federal Reserve workers who plot to pocket old currency before it's destroyed. Holmes would take a pay cut and receive only $250,000 for her role in the film, which possibly costars Queen Latifah.
$250,000 seems like a major pay cut for Katie. She probably made more money as Joey Potter. Tom has helped launch the careers of his significant others before so it's only a matter of time before she is making millions and winning Oscars. To see more of Katie leaving the CAA offices just, read more
"Scheduling conflicts" = euphanism for Cruise Control's tiny iron fist (he probably doesn't want his beard too close to Christian Bale!)
1Bad idea - she was really good in that role.
2Brokenhalo, you took the words right out of my mouth.
3brokenhalo - you're right on point! i can't stand that little pooper!
4Seeing her in a comedy might be fun. Besides, she doesn't really need to select jobs based on salary so she might as well choose projects that she thinks will be enjoyable to make.
5That coat is looking like a bathrobe...

i would choose a comedy too. she seems to be taking herself to seriously lately. this would probably help people like her a little better.
7OMG I just realised what she's wearing!!! These are, quite honestly THE WORST sunglasses I have ever seen! She looks like she belongs on the set of Star Trek! Such a pity Xenu's been influencing her style choices lately!
8Word is that she was not invited back for the sequel. Her performance in the first movie was widely viewed to be very weak.
9This is positive spin by her publicist; that Katie turned down the role.
She and Tom are considered liabilities to the box office. Works for me!
sounds fishy...maybe it was a bad script or something. i wish she'd stop dressing like a 45 year old.
10huh. I read that they ditched her b/c TinyTom is too controversial
11BOOOOO

Weeeeeeee!
scheduling conflicts from someone whose only job is promoting Barney's.. and hhmm lets see being a part of a series of movies regarding a revered comic book character or a formulatic heist comedy with Queen Latifah for less money... hmmm decisions decisions.
13and I am sure it probably has nothing to do with the fact that a comedy with the Queen more than likely wouldn't have a love scene in it.. no wonder it has the other Queens approval
14i hope she gets back into working--i really enjoyed her in the roles she played in. i know she's taken a lot of crap with suri and marrying tom. but sheesh! give the girl a break.
15yea i bet tom told her not to do it
"It`s weird to get dressed when you know you`re going to get everything off." Bridget Marquardt from The Girls Next Door
16How sad for her. She never looks good these days. Just haggard and poorly dressed.
17I don't want her back in Batman...they never bring back the same girl in any of those movies, so why should the studios pick her out of all of them (i.e. Michelle Pfeiffer, Kim Basinger, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman)?
18Because this was the back story to Batman that involved the childhood love of his life.. all of those other actresses names were different girlfriends/enemies from different periods in Bruce Wayne's/Batman's life. Batman is not like Superman/Clark Kent with just two women that he loved. Bruce was a millionaire playar.. and part of his problem stemmed from the relationship with his childhood love.
19They will recast.. and hopefully her comedy will tank and she can slip off into scientolgy approved wedding bliss oblivion and spit out a few more test tube babies for Tiny.
She was really only half way decent in Abandon and The Gift.. First Daughter was a waste of celluloid and she almost ruined Thank You for Smoking with her lackluster unbelieveable performance.
The world isn't losing a potential Oscar winner here people.
20I didn't think she was that great in the Batman movie.
21poor brain washed kid
22Her accent in The Gift was horrible. I'm sure that GMD played a major part in her dropping out of Batman.
23I don't think she was very good in Batman Begins anyway. (I thought she was horrible in the Gift. That accent...ugh!)
Anyway, around the time that the movie came out, I thought I had heard talk of them not wanting to ask her back for the sequel. It was during the height of the TomKat ruckus, so maybe they changed their minds. In any case, I would think that there would have been a provision in her original contract that would keep her reserved for any sequels to Batman if they offered them to her. Like for Kirsten Dunst and Toby Macguire, they signed a 3-movie deal for Spiderman.
24Batmans come and go, so there shouldn't be any wrong with a new face playing a childhood friend. That's what I say
25I am sure Christian Bale won't be too upset to not have her back for the film. During all of the press for the movie he kept having to answer inane questions about "tomkat". You could see how annoyed he was by all of it. Her relationship with Tom stole all of Christian's well deserved spotlight for the film.
26I feel sorry for that brainwashed girl. I do not wish for her movie to tank but who can see Katie as a federal reserve guard anyway? Please! Bad decisions by her Thetan man.
Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strenght
27ehm..okay..she'd rather b in anotha film gotcha..very important info..i will let my lawyers get right on it...big bucks people
28my posts dont even make sense to me anymore...mayb its cos the gossip is so dull ,,,we need something ggooooddd
29blah blah blah
30I bet Tom would much prefer she work with Queen Latifah than Christian Bale..
31yep; scheduling conflict
32Maybe she is taking advantage of the freedom of choice. She has the freedom to take on projects that interest her and money is no longer an issue. Maybe the role in the other movie is bigger lead role. Women always play second fiddle in the Batman movies.
33It could be Tom but it could also be because she has a little daughter.
34What's with her short little bangs??? I don't like it. and her glasses?? not a good look on her. and I agree with boredatwork...she dresses too old for her age.
And she was dumb to pass up Batman 2.
35The baby hairs drive me crazy! You have tons of money, Katie-- hairspray those down or cover them up. Sheesh. And I'm on the fence about giving her my sympathy. She clearly knew what she was getting herself into, I mean, c'mon.
36She was offered the part my A S S, the producers fired her big time for all the circus she and Tom Cruise made in the promotion of the first movie, the media no even cared for Christian Bale, and when she went to Letterman TO TALK ABOUT THE MOVIE, he asked her if one person could watch it only one movie witch one he should go, Batman or War of the Worlds? She answered, well I have to support my love ( BARF) so I would say War of the Worlds. Let me tell you, the Batman producers were not happy at all with her.
37I'm sure you are right clarinha. I'm sure if they really planned on another Batman movie from her they would have her under contract. I doubt the producers are crying over this rejection from her.
38She is actually a good actress - I would love to see her in more movies. She always looks like a teenager in grown-up cltothes to me - there's something very innocent/young about her. She's very pretty!
39Good to know. Another movie to not see.
**~~Everyone who's anyone has been on sesame street.~~**
40She looks like a strange professor from a science lab.
41will she ever dress her age..wait tom doesent allow it
