Katie Holmes at the Broadway Dreams Foundation Gala

Katie Holmes picked a purple Vivienne Westwood gown to wear for last night's Broadway Dreams Foundation gala at Celsius in NYC. The evening's theme was "Champagne and Caroling," and Katie did sit down to eat and drink a bit with the director of her Broadway show, Jack O'Brien. Katie had the evening off from appearing on Broadway to mingle at the bash with her attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, as well as a group of theater students.

She's gearing up for a big holiday season with her daughter, Suri. 2012 has been a whirlwind for Katie, considering her divorce from Tom Cruise — which couple do you think had the most shocking breakup of the year?
