Katie Holmes smiled as she headed into the opening performance of The Other Side on Broadway last night in NYC. She looked happy to return to the theater — as an audience member. Katie's own time on the stage came to a premature end after her show, Dead Accounts, which was supposed to run through February, had its final curtain call last weekend. She is now enjoying some unexpected free time in the Big Apple with her daughter, Suri Cruise. Earlier this week, Katie and Suri sported matching coats to visit a park. Although she's not on stage at the moment, Katie can be seen as the face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics. Images from Katie's first ad campaign for the brand were released earlier this week.

Despite her lighter schedule, Katie's first week of freedom has been a busy one. On Wednesday, Katie appeared in an NYC court to support a friend who is seeking justice for the death of an infant. She has also been the subject of speculation in the fashion world. Word has spread that her line, Holmes & Yang, will not show during at New York Fashion Week despite doing so last season.
