The 2010 MTV Movie Awards have us reminiscing about the past years' funniest spoofs. From Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw and Neo in The Matrix, to The Golden Girls' Estelle Getty, Betty White, and Rue McLanahan in Clueless, the parodies we've seen will be tough to top in 2010!
More King Kong Heading Our Way
Production company Spirit Pictures has plans to resurrect King Kong's story for the big screen once again, this time adapting the book Kong: King of Skull Island, a prequel to the ape's tale. The book is centered around Skull Island's backstory "and how the giant gorilla became king there. It introduces other giant gorillas and dinosaurs only hinted at in the previous films."
As for this new movie, producers plan on using the motion-capture technology that Robert Zemeckis used to make The Polar Express and Beowulf. Despite a modern update, however, Spirit is determined to do right by the Merian C. Cooper family, who own the Kong property. "We're very concerned with honoring Merian C. Cooper's legacy in Hollywood. We want to make sure that whatever we deliver will honor his memory," said Spirit's Steve Iles.
Is King Kong's story still interesting at all, or has the juice of this tale been all squeezed out? Or does the fact that we now have some nifty filmmaking technology justify revisiting old stories, since now it'll look really cool?
King Kong Rules
I have written before that this was one of the few movies on my must see list this December. I knew I wanted to see it because Peter Jackson was the man behind the film and he had a budget of over $200M. Jackson did such an amazing job with the Lord of the Rings movies that you knew he would re-make Kong perfectly. I really had no idea what I was in for- it really blew me away.
The movie is a classic Beauty and the Beast love story full of adventure and amazing special effects and it will make you laugh and cry. Titanic - Smitantic, King Kong is about to rock the box office! You thought the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park looked cool - they got nothing on these guys. Kong looks so real - his hair, scars, breathing, mannerism, and that vicious roar. Most of all, Kong has a heart full of love and you feel it.
