Kristen Stewart Pictures in Vanity Fair

Kristen Stewart is on the cover of July's Vanity Fair, which is out across the US on June 12. The actress is in the middle of a huge Summer that kicked off with last weekend's release of box office topper Snow White and the Huntsman. She broke from a global SWATH press tour to show off her other new movie, On the Road, at the Cannes Film Festival. The Walter Salles-directed picture will be out later this year. Kristen spoke to one of the magazine's writers about trying to be true to herself despite all that's going on around her. Her Twilight leading man, and real-life boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, even weighed in on Kristen's image and more. Here are highlights from Kristen Stewart in Vanity Fair:

• Kristen on trying to just be herself: "I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph. If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, 'What an actress! What a faker!' That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like s--t in half my photos, and I don’t give a f**k. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, 'She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest.' I don’t care about the voracious, starving s**t eaters who want to turn truth into s**t. Not that you can say that in Vanity Fair!"
• Kristen on doing her own thing with Robert in Twilight: "Me and Rob got into a lot of trouble. We were getting notes from the studio. They wanted me to smile all the time. They wanted Rob to be not so brooding. We were like, 'No! You need to brood your ass off.'"
• Rob on how Kristen is perceived: "People have decided how they are going to perceive her. No matter how many times she smiles, they'll put in the one picture where she's not smiling."
• Rob on Kristen's love of fashion: "I never saw that coming."
