Director Len Wiseman helms the upcoming remake of Total Recall with Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, and Colin Farrell, so when we grabbed some time with him at Comic-Con, we asked him about one of our favorite scenes from the trailer: the Jessica and Kate fight! Watch as Len talks about the actresses' skills, why their battle is way more violent than sexy, and the challenges of rebooting a famous film.
Kate Beckinsale and Rooney Mara were on hand for last night's Costume Designers Guild Awards in LA. Kate hit the red carpet with husband Len Wiseman, while Rooney wore J. Mendel and met up with her boyfriend Charlie McDowell inside. Other celebs to step out for the show included Jane Lynch, Amber Valletta, and Ellie Kemper. Jane hosted the show, which saw distinctions passed out to the costumers working on movies like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, as well as TV shows lie Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey. Kate took home a statue as well. She took the stage to accept the Lacoste Spotlight Award, an honor which has gone to Halle Berry in the past.
Kate Beckinsale, in Jenny Packham, and her husband Len Wiseman cozied up on the black carpet at last night's Underworld: Awakening, held outside LA's Grauman's Chinese Theatre. It's the fourth film in the franchise, and it gave star Kate and writer Len yet another chance to work side-by-side. In previous installments of the series, Len has served as director. He was in that role when they first met on the set of the original Underworld back in 2003. They married in 2004.
It's been a busy week for Kate and Len, who kicked things off at Sunday's Golden Globes. They mingled at various afterparties, and then kept the socializing coming on a Tuesday double date with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. John, Len, Kate, and Emily checked out a comedy show from The Office cocreator Stephen Merchant, and Colin Firth even joined in on the fun. Kate and Len may keep the good times rolling as they celebrate their movie's arrival in theaters today.
Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski had a double date last night with Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman. Earlier in the day, Emily took her Prius out to run errands solo, but by nighttime, she was ready to let loose with John and their pals. The foursome apparently checked out a comedy show at the Coronet Theatre. Comedian Stephen Merchant is playing a string of dates in Hollywood, and he's best known for creating the UK version of The Office with Ricky Gervais. Stephen also had a hand in adapting the US series, which John of course stars in as Jim Halpert.
The evening out with Len and Kate came after John and Emily spent New Year's with another famous couple. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski vacationed with Jimmy Kimmel and his girlfriend, Molly McNearney. Kate and Len enjoyed the low-key outing after a big weekend at the Golden Globes. Kate was one of the show's presenters, and was able to toast her movie Contraband's being at the top of the box office at various afterparties.
Kate Beckinsale held hands with her daughter, Lily Sheen, as they caught a flight with Kate's husband, Len Wiseman, yesterday. Len and Kate took a romantic vacation of their own back in October when they headed to Mexico, and this time around, had Lily by their sides as they left LAX. Kate and Len have been back on the West Coast recently after spending much of their Summer and early Fall in Toronto together for work, filming the remake of Total Recall along with Jessica Biel, Colin Farrell, and others. That film is expected to hit theaters in the Summer, but before that, Kate will return to the big screen in the Underworld franchise. Underworld: Awakening is hitting theaters in just a few short weeks on Jan. 20. Meanwhile, the actress and her family are taking advantage of the holiday lull to head out of town. Safe travels to the trio!
Kate Beckinsale adjusted her bikini bottoms on vacation in Mexico with husband Len Wiseman yesterday. Kate and Len spent their Summer and early Fall together in Toronto working on the remake of Total Recall, which she is starring in and he's directing. Now that they've finished up work on that highly anticipated project, it may be time to shift focus to one of their favorite holidays. Kate, Len, and her daughter, Lily Sheen, go all out for Halloween, and some of their couple and family costumes have included Frankenstein and his bride, Superman and Wonder Woman, and a devilish trio. We're excited to find out what they pick out this year, and, in 2012, we'll be seeing Kate in a number of sexy getups. She'll be back in her skin-tight Selene outfit for Underworld Awakening and kicking ass in Total Recall, and we'll see a slightly different side to her when she joins up with Mark Wahlberg in Contraband.
Newly blond Kate Beckinsale skipped the award show madness in LA over the weekend and headed south of the border with her husband, Len Wiseman. The pair returned to one of their favorite Mexican destinations in Cabo, where Kate relaxed in the sun and lounged by the pool in a ruffled bikini. Kate's hair color change may be for one of her upcoming roles, as she has three projects in the works — she'll star opposite Mark Wahlberg in Contraband, share the big screen with her fellow Brit Sienna Miller in The Trials of Cate McCullough, and then will reprise her role as Selene in Underworld 4: New Dawn.
Kate Beckinsale joined her shirtless husband, Len Wiseman and daughter Lily Sheen for a weekend of fun in Mexico. Yesterday Kate tanned her tummy in a black bikini but kept her face shielded from the sun under a floppy straw hat. Len and Kate recently cozied up on the red carpet during the Going the Distance premiere in LA and their sweet PDA traveled with them south of the border. The well-traveled trio are just one of many celebrities families squeezing in one more vacation together this season.

Drew Barrymore Premieres Going the Distance, and Jason Sudeikis Reveals January Jones as His Emmys Date!
Drew Barrymore and Justin Long walked the red carpet arm in arm last night at the LA premiere of their new movie, Going the Distance. Drew looked stunning in a floor-length gold gown, and while the on-again, off-again couple joked that working together was "awful" and "meh," their famous chemistry was obvious as they chatted with reporters. They were joined at the big event by costars Jason Sudeikis and pregnant Christina Applegate, who brought her husband, Martyn LeNoble. Drew's producing partner, Nancy Juvonen, also came out with Jimmy Fallon, while Kate Beckinsale cozied up to Len Wiseman. Jimmy dropped a few hints about the Emmys, which he's hosting on Sunday. He told us the ceremony will include an homage to shows that are "no longer with us" like Lost and Law and Order and that his opening number will feature plenty of famous faces. Jason revealed that he'll be in the audience to watch Jimmy's performance and that he'll be accompanied by his real-life leading lady, January Jones!

Jin is back and alive! Indeed, that seemed to be the Comic-Con fan reaction when actor Daniel Dae Kim came out to promote Hawaii Five-0. During the panel, he addressed the Lost finale and his new role as Chin Ho in the remake of the iconic cop series. He was joined by director Len Wiseman and costar Grace Park, whose appearance got Battlestar Galactica fans buzzing. I've already given you a peek at what to expect from the upcoming Fall series, but here's what they had to add:
- Director Wiseman showed several exclusive clips which were full of high-adrenaline action. Car chases, vans barreling through buildings, explosions — the footage felt more like a movie than a TV show, which is thanks to Wiseman's big-screen sensibility. In fact, this is the first time he's ever ventured into television.
- Park is actually playing Kona in Hawaii Five-0 — a role that was originally played by a man. It's not the first time she's taken on a guy's part (her character in Battlestar was also male first). Park responded that she feels like it's just a sign of the times, and more roles are open to women now other than just "a wife, mother, or prostitute."
- The film's producers assured the audience that the show would satisfy every kind of TV watcher. They promise a new case every week, but there will also be a big mystery revealed over the course of the series for those viewers who stay loyal.
