He isn't singing to Miley. She's just there. They happened to be in the same studio at the same time and his family is friends with her family and have been for a long time. They thought it would be fun to do something together. The song isn't even racy at all. It's a nice ballad and a good song. She does back up and harmonies and doesn't have any solos. This isn't a love song where they are singing to each other. Frankly, she's just there.

if you listen to the entire song all miley cyrus does through the song is act as an echo or harmony for bret michaels. he's the main singer throughout the whole thing. she has no solo parts at all. to say that they're singing a love song is incorrect. Bret Michaels is singing a love song, but not to her. if it was a love "duet" then of course it would be disgusting, but it would then also have miley cyrus singing solo melodies as well. it's immature for everyone to jump to conclusions about the "raciness" of the song.

Oh, I thought this was going to be gross but I just gave it a listen and the song is cheesy enough but Miley simply provides beautiful background vocals. Honestly I think is would be appropriate if Bret had a young female cellist, for example, and it's equally appropriate to have Miley singing backup. Cute!

I agree with belle...I don't care about the controversy, but the song could sound better. There have always been songs way creepier on the subject... Winger - "Seventeen", Kiss - "Christine Sixteen", etc...But at least those songs had a catchy beat. ha
