MK Plays Dress Up And Gets Real
Could MK look any cuter in EW? We're eagerly awaiting her big acting comeback since we're a huge fan but admittedly I haven't watched her on screen since Full House (OK I wanted to see New York Minute but just couldn't bring myself to do it). The good news is that in the article Mary-Kate comes clean about why she hides from the paparazzi and how great she' s feeling these days. Here are some highlights:
- ''I don't want my picture taken. The only time I think it's okay is at a red-carpet event or a photo shoot. So every time I see paparazzi, I cover my face so they don't get a picture, and I'm just 'the mean person who doesn't smile. I would love to be able to swim in the ocean in Malibu. But that is asking for a bikini shot. That's inviting something that I don't want to happen. I don't need to be on a 'Who's Skinny, Who's Fat, Who's Looking Healthy, Who's Not Eating?' list.''
- ''There's definitely been times in my life when I just turned to people and said, 'I'm done, this is too much for me, this is too overwhelming.' Mentally, physically, I feel pretty on top of my game right now,'' she says. ''Talk to me next week, I don't know. Today, I feel good.''
We're so glad to hear that MK is feeling healthy these days and is ready to bring her A-game to both the big and small screens. We're definitely counting the days until she makes her big debut on Weeds on September 17th!!

As far as the indian head dress offending, I can understand that. But WOW, at halloween you must be tormented!!
I'm Sicilian and I don't get offended when I see people buying pre-made frozen lasagna (BLEH). And that's a HUGE part of my past, the way I grew up and silly as it sounds..makes me feel close to my deceased great grandma, my Nonny.
(prepping for the lecture on what the indian head dress means and it's cultural signifigance compared to pasta and sauce...and cheese...and spices.... oh yea, that's right, I don't come back and check.. ::whew:
17I do not want to see bikini shots of MK. The child needs to gain at least 10 more pds. to be considered healthy. That said, I hope she took acting lessons, cause she is an awful actress.

19CynnamonHoney , I'm of Native American descent and I think it's beyond adorable. It's definitely not that serious. Anyway I love MK and Ashley I think Ashley has the best style of any young celeb out there right now and MK you just have to love because she's freakin' cute as all get out!
20What a cute interview, she seems so down to earth and likeable. I am SO jealous of her and Ashley's skin, I love they don't do the Hollywood over tan thing, they always looks so radiant and MK leg's are GORGEOUS in that skirt, get rid of the boho look you're too pretty to hide behind baggy clothes!

I think it's funny that her costume created a fuss. It's just a silly little thing. Kindergarten kids make those head dresses too; does this mean they are culturally insensitive?
Life is too short to take everything so seriously!
(And I should know, being half-Korean and part Native American. I've heard my fair share of cracks.)

I think she looks adorable, but I can see why a Native American might be offended. There are markings on that headress...do they have some sort of religious/cultural significance? And yet here she is posing as if she was wearing a paper cap? Someone here wrote that the headress is just a silly little thing...no, it's not. It's part of someone's heritage, and it should be worn with respect for that culture. Not as a prop in a fashion mag. Even when little kids make them in school, it has to do with American history, not just for the fun of it.
Just my two cents!

This isn't cute, Dressing up as someone else's nationality. this should never be a costume. I'm sure if she put on her black face, and dressed up like Aunt Jemima,and she is just a marketing ploy Wait lets see her dress up like Rosa Parks, sitting in a bus, with her black face. That sh*t wouldn't go. You'll never see her dressed as a women from an African tribe, in her made from china costume.
There is native american fasion out there, there are items that can be used, but a headdress of any kind is just plain disrespectful

35Everyone is entitled to their own option, and she does look great in these photos. They could have easily but a still little hat on her, or a crown. There's nothing silly about Native American Culture.

36I feel ya there trish... I can't ever imagine these girls not being Michelle Tanner. The outfit it stupid, but she looks healthy.. beautiful.. What she said makes sense though. I would'nt smile for cameras that follow me around everywhere. And it's sad that she has to be afraid to do things because of it. I know I would hate a camera following me around at the beach.

41I'm sure she really gives a flip about how people would feel about her wearing a Native Americans headdress. She drapes herself in dead carcasses all the time and never feels bad about the negative backlash related to that. She is a disgusting, selfish, spoiled little twit. 42I really like Her but after reading this interview I really Love Her. I love that she is honest and witty. That's what I love about Geminis they never hold anything back.
As for the comments about the Native American Headpiece while I understand your frustration try to understand that if things that are symbolic are used in good intentions then there's no harm. MK and Ashley are both half Native American Indian. I've read this many times. I think if you want to focus a serious outrage point to Walmart for example that opened a store in scared Aztec Mexican Ground. That is more of an outrage.
