Mandy Moore has come a long way from that teenage girl who had to just pretend to drive a car in her music video because she was too young to actually drive. To her, though, she can't forget about that period of her life soon enough. In February's Jane Mandy admits, "I feel bad that people wasted their money on such trite, blah pop music." Awww, don't feel bad Mandy, at least you've made up for your missteps by choosing better projects like Racing Stripes Saved! Mandy also opened up about a dark period of her life, People reports:

"A few months ago I felt really low, really sad – depressed for no reason," the singer and actress tells Jane magazine in its February issue. "I'm a very positive person, and I've always been glass-half-full. So it was like someone flipped a switch in me."
Moore, 22, and Braff, 31, split last year. Moore says the separation did not trigger her depression, but may have exacerbated it. "The breakup added to what I was going through, but it's not the complete reason," she says. "It definitely doesn't help if you're already in that place."
Moore does not speculate on what else might have caused her depression, but says it prompted some serious introspection.
"I've been going through this really crazy time in my life," she tells Jane. "I'm asking myself life-altering questions, like 'Who am I? Where do I fit in this world? What am I doing? What do I want to do? Am I living to my full potential?' "
Hopefully, DJ AM has been able to switch back on her inner happiness light bulb, because when Mandy is happy she just lights up the room. Wow, I really took that metaphor a little far, didn't I?
More of Mandy singing what I can only assume isn't "Candy", so just read more
she loooks gr8! love the make up and hair!
1I love her. If young girls are going to have a celeb role model it should definitely be someone like Mandy and NOT LL
2Love her...she is so pretty! Loved a Walk to Remember!

9- sighs -
10I love that movie, too - but it is such a tear jerker! Mandy Moore looks beautiful (as always!). Too bad the rest of Young Hollywood is not like her!
11yea serena its like she might be the only fine young celebrity out there
12She is absolutely stunning to me!
Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strenght
13Maybe she's dating DJ AM cuz she's depressed and has low self esteem.
Seriously, it's nice that she comes out about stuff like this so that young girls know that these things happen. And her problems aren't "trendy" like she's not coming out about have anorexia or something - she's for real.
14She's very pretty.
15her hair looks AMAZING!!! She looks awesome - I wish her the best, she's one of my favorites!!
16I'm usually not a fan..but she looks pretty here.
17I really like her. She shouldn't apologize for that time in her life.
18i really like her...i hope she gets thru this tough time...
"stay far from timid, only make moves when your hearts in it and live the phrase sky's the limit."
19I've always liked Mandy, and each day I like her even more. How brave of her to come forward about suffering from depression. Even today, depression is something a lot of folks still feel ashamed about. And she shouldn't be embarrassed about her early days! She was too cute back then, and still is!
20I don't know if it's typical of someone going through the early twenties but I had a period when I asked myself the same questions, although I wasn't depressed. Just confused and frustrated. I love how she's real and so honest about herself.
21maybe her next project should be dumping DJAM, she prolly cant believe her taste in men is so damm bad!
22I am at her age and I understand her problems and worries! She is fantastic very beautiful and talented!
fashionista loves Vale...
23She looks really good in the first pic especially! luv her makeup. isn't it weird how both she and her ex are saying they suffered from depression?
24i'm kinda thinking that Mandy should stick to movies coz i can't really think of any great music that she has made ... even post-the first album (Candy , i think that's what it was called.)
25I loved the song Candy. Reminds me of being young and carefree, going on school trips
26She looks great!
27please dump DJ AM
28Aww, I love her! Mandy Moore is somebody you can admire and appreciate for her talents.
29I can't see these two as a couple but maybe they can make it work. Stranger things have happened.....
30She's so great and pretty. To be honest, I'm not too crazy over her singing but I think she is a good actress.
31Her and DJ AM make a weird looking couple but hey if he makes her happy then good. But she was a lot cuter with Andy Roddick.
Mandy's going thru something totally normal. i have to warn all you youngin's that everybody freaks out right around the age of 23. I'm not sure what it is but its sooo true. maybe mid-mid-life crisis. :)it clears up by 24 though.
32mandy is awesome
33she's the best:)
