Will Mariah Surpass the Beatles For Most No. 1 Singles Ever?

It was officially announced today that Mariah Carey surpassed Elvis to score the second-place slot for most No. 1 singles in the rock era. "Touch My Body" is her 18th No. 1, while the Beatles maintain the top slot with 20 No. 1 hits. With Mariah's new album, E=MC2, dropping on April 15 and her incredible ability to churn out hits, there's a good chance that she could break the Beatles' record. What do you think — will Mariah surpass the Beatles for most No. 1 singles of all time?

Look i hope mariah carey does look she mosly a solo artist the beatles were a grop and it like yea there a legend but look at it Mariah carey;'s alegend to i love eveything heer music i love the somg migrate tocuh my body obseed clown it beatiful and she a true artirst ok ! i hope she has that top no1 spot and she will i hope and if she does she have more she might even have 30 no 1 thats my girl :)

So many Haters!!! Records R made to be broken. So what if she breaks the Beatles record, it will not diminish the Beatles in their fans eyes. The Beatles will not be any less than they ever were. Some people will love them & some will not. Some will love Mariah as well. Do you truly think she cares what you think of how she dresses? If she did, she would change. Why is it Paul M is over 60 yrs old(which is great) & people don't think anything of it but Mariah is being called old and some of you are saying her time is past. Ha, if that were true, she wouldn't be chart topping. The world is big enough for all talented artists. I am not a Beatles fan but I do like some of there music. I don't care for most of their early 1960's music. I love Madonna, vintage Madonna & current Madonna. Again, talent is talent. So if you think Mariah can't sing, then you have been listening to too much of that studio music that is used to make some of the newer artists sound good. I will not trash another artist if their talent is currently shining just because they are not my favorite. I do not understand why people will take time to post comments about someone they don't like. I don't bother to read or write anything about anybody I don't lie. A total waste of time...Good luck Mariah!

misscoopa - I grew up in a black household--my parents listened to the temptations, aretha franklin, etc. It's pretty common for non-white families to not listen to the beatles. Most of my non-white friends didn't know the beatles until they were older either

I think she will, because her career has been built on her SONGWRITING, not just her voice. If you just look at her as a songwriter, she is really prolific. She knows how to crank out catchy hooks that chicks like to sing to, and I don't see that coming to a close anytime soon.

Mariah will be around for a while longer and with the music industry the way it is I'd say she has a really good shot at breaking the record. Besides, I hate the beatles.

Hell to the no. I can't STAND this woman's screeching! People talk about Brit being over rated, Mooriah is the one that's over rated! She's not funny, dresses like a 12 year old and (in my opinion) can't sing to save her life. I'm not a critic though, which is probably why the ones I like on American Idol get voted off and the ones that are awful win (Except for Carrie Underwood at least).

Whether she breaks the record or not she still is what she is and the Beatles are what the are and nothing will ever change that. The Beatles ARE a legend. Every one of their #1's stand the test of time. MC is an over the hill cheap looking hello-kitty wearing bimbo who originated the dog-whistle. She's been a joke for years.

I am sick and tired of hearing "the old Mariah" versus "the new Mariah" and calling her a hooch and whatever. Get over it. People are so materialistic when it comes to true talent. I must admit, I have succumb to the idea pop star attributes. How pretty they are, what they look like, and how they dress. It's a part of nature. But to have what they portray themselves to be in the public eye versus their true talent is superficial. And records are meant to be broken. She's already at 18... she needs 2 more... there's a definite chance she'll break it. So get over yourself who puts down Mariah cause she dresses like a slut. She's not the only one that does it.

Ugh. I sure hope not. If Mariah Carey (of all people!) will be the one to break The Beatles' record, then, I'd say, the world has come to an end. I'd rather no one would break The Beatles' record, but oh well. If someone's got to, I hope it wouldn't be Mariah Carey.

It's great that a woman will be the one to break that record. I like that it's her because she writes her own music and doesn't leave up to others to do all the work for her. Having said that, I don't particularly enjoy the music I've heard so far from this new album, but I'm still happy for her.
