First Lady Michelle Obama Presents Best Picture Oscar to Argo

While attending the Governors' Dinner, First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance at the Oscars Sunday night. Michelle donned a sparkly Naeem Khan gown and presented the best picture Oscar remotely via satellite. The accolade went to Argo, which fittingly has a political theme as it's based on a true story about a CIA plan to help a group of Americans escape Iran.
"Welcome to the White House, everyone," Michelle said on screen. The FLOTUS then added that these nominated movies "took us back in time and all around the world. They made us laugh. They made us weep and made us grip our armrests just a little tighter. They taught us that love can endure against all odds and transform our minds in the most surprising ways. And they reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage to believe in ourselves."
Between this and Michelle's recent Jimmy Fallon video, we can only hope movies are next for the first lady!
Watch Jimmy Fallon and Michelle Obama Perform the "Evolution of Mom Dancing"
Michelle Obama stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Friday night, and the first lady did not disappoint (does she ever?). To help promote her Let's Move campaign, she joined Fallon in the "Evolution of Mom Dancing." If you liked Fallon's "Evolution of Dad Dancing," then you're in for a treat, because round two is even better. Watch as Michelle upstages Jimmy with moves like the "Where's Your Father? (Get Him Back Here)," "The Sprinkler," and the "Out of Sync Electric Slide."

The FLOTUS Wears Reed Krakoff For Second Official White House Portrait
Michelle Obama's second official White House portrait has been released, and rest assured, the FLOTUS is looking as chic as ever in custom navy blue Reed Krakoff. Unlike the sleeveless black Michael Kors sheath she chose in 2009, Michelle opted for three-quarter-length sleeves here, a move that takes the focus away from her famously sculpted arms. The other subtle differences worth noting? She wore a single strand of pearls instead of a double strand, and unlike the previous portrait, Michelle's "midlife crisis" bangs are front and center.

This isn't the first time Michelle has reached for one of Reed Krakoff's designs. In fact, she wore one of his sheaths and cropped cardigans to President Obama's official swearing-in ceremony, and styled the latter again with a Thom Browne dress at the inaugural lunch. Lest we forget, she also wore a pair of customized boots to walk in the inaugural parade. While neither Krakoff nor the first lady's office have commented on their fashionable partnership, it's safe to say we can (most likely) expect more Krakoff pieces to make their way into the presidential spotlight.
Michelle Obama's Bangs Go Down in History

Michelle Obama's bangs have caused quite the flurry in and out of the White House, and the excitement over her fringe continues with the release of the first lady's official portrait. In the photo, her layered style is feathered, and her bangs appear a bit shorter than previous pictures from the Inauguration, touching just above the brows. Michelle stuck with her subtle makeup style with a taupe eye shadow, black liner, and pink gloss. She debuted the new hairstyle on her birthday last month, and recently stated the change was part of a midlife crisis. Regardless of what prompted the hairstyle changeup, we can't wait to see what other beauty moves four more years in the White House inspires.
Famous Women on Moving Through Midlife
This week, Michelle Obama joked that her buzzed-about bangs were the result of a "midlife crisis" — and she's not the first famous female to reflect on reaching middle age. Over the years, Hollywood icons like Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and Julianne Moore have talked about the benefits and challenges of moving through their 40s, 50s, and beyond. Take a look at what famous women have said about beauty, self-doubt, joy, and wisdom in middle age.
