Miley Cyrus put out her newest album, The Time of Our Lives, three weeks ago, and she's just released a video for the single, "Party in the USA." It shows Miley flaunting her patriotism at an outdoor dance party, decked out in her short shorts and cowboy boots. We got a taste of her latest moves at the VMAs, but tell us what you think of this video — does it make you want to get the party started or shut it down?
"Shut It Down — It might be catchy, but the video is nothing special." How about an option for just plain NO!
I'm not a 9 yeard old girl anymore, so no.
1i agree
2She sucks.
3I think this song has an audience and the video is right for the audience. Give the girl a break!
4If you're over 19, you should judge her from a marketing perspective, not as a member of her audience.
Agreed xlove and just because "your not 9 anymore" doesn't actually make Mileys song/video crap. I think its age appropriate and a catchy song and yes, marketed properly for her audiences age group, so well done.
5Ditto Janne
6Thank you, I appreciate it.
That's just how I look at her, and how I think she's like.
7Didn't mention you there, did I??
I would like the video so much more if i didn't have to see her bra cups popping out from the top of her shirt. I cannot believe anyone would let their daughter out in that "ensemble".
8I loveeeee it!
9I love this song. But I think the video could have been better. Plus I think while she's still a "Disney Star" and until she makes a Hilary Duff transition off of the channel completely she should dress for her audience (5-12yr old girls) not her teenage peers. Because while people in their teens listen to her music and some of them may really like her, they're not the ones keeping her career afloat and a lot of parents I know have banned Hannah Montana from their house since she because so sexuality.
10She is not age appropriate for even a 20 yr old... she is singing about going out and partying, which is not something I would want my nine year old daughter wanting to do.He shorts are shorter then some peoples underwear is, and he breasts are pushed up so high that you can see every curve of them. I am sorry but this girl is a horrible representation of what little girls should look up to. Some one needs to come out on the scene and sing about things kids really think about, and hopefully it is someone who wears clothing in public, not undergarments
11Not a fan of Miley but the song is catchy the video not so much. Agree about the bra showing, not cute especially on a minor
12for 16, fabulous.
13it was fine until she started dancing in front of the american flag. i almost gagged when it started flashing "USA" too.
14The song is catchy, but I don't understand how the video is age appropriate. She is a 16-17 year old girl with REALLY short shorts, and when she bends over you can see a shot of her boobs. So, age appropriate? I don't think so.
15It's okay except for that random back flip guy. Makes no sense.
16this is a good song but all the nasty dancing needs to go back in the trash!!
17She doesn't really dress age appropriate but many teenagers don't. They all try to look older. When I was a teen I would have done anything to look "sexy and sultry" like my older cousins.
My only issue is that it's not appropriate if she wants to keep her audience. So Miley really needs to smarten up and cover up or change who she's marketing to. Not all parents turn a blind eye to whatever their kids do/watch/etc. (yes I'm talking about Billy Ray)
18Put on some clothes girl!
19Did everyone around her forget that she's 16?
20The shorts don't bother me as much as her boobs in your face with her bra showing. It's tasteless.
I dance around to it when I'm in the kitchen cooking if it comes on z100 but otherwise, shut CHOPPERS down...she annoys me, way too obnoxious considering she's not really talented...shame on me, the same goes for 89% of the entertainment world
21people she is not a little kid she is 16 and probably almost 17 so she is going to be dressed up as a 16 year like every 16 year old does these days you dont grow younger you grow older.
22The video is Ok, but the song is boring. And overall I don't like Miley's voice, it irritates my ears.
23I don't think it's as bad considering how society is now a days. But yea, when i first heard the song, although I was like who the hell made this song, I thought it had some pretty rated pg lyrics and nothing like other songs out there so I guess to me, the video is forgiven...kinda.
24She's a performer.
25honestly, shes 16, so of course shes going to want to look 'sexy', so i cant blame her too much for wanting to dress like that, but her parents truly disgust me. they should know better.
26I actually like the video, the only thing that annoys me is the bra showing off... I think is tasteless
27mILEy iS loVe
28i dont know about you guys but I like it and i'm 29 yo. it's not video of the year material but it is targeted for teens (NOT TWEENS!)and young adults. And I know for a fact that most teens are similar to this coz I have a 17 yo brother who has A LOT of girls hanging around him like moths to a flame. Miley is not a kid anymore. accept it...deal with it (or not but get the heck away from this page if you dont want to). at least her transition is being done a bit slow and steady...that's what went wrong with Lindsay and Britney-it was a complete 180 overnight.
29I thought the video video was pretty "age appropiate"...but then again I'm almost 16 years old myself...people my age dress like that all the time...you guys act like she just had on a bra and panties....and about the "nasty dancing"...I've seen worse...
30I LOVE IT!
31FYI, if you're posting here, this song/video wan't meant for you anyways
32I'm 30 and I love the melody; it's a well-constructed pop song.
But who's letting her into the club? I enjoy the metaphor of butterflies flying away as though it's a loss of innocence. Britney was singing much sexier songs at this age, but those are some short shorts!
33I guess I don't get it because I'm Canadian... and don't like hypocritical teen/tween stars.
34I think the song is catchy but Miley is too hoochie for a 16 year old.
35ugh. miley needs to just disappear.
36Age appropriate buffybot?? You think its appropriate for a 16 year to dress like that, to dance like that. I manage a strip club, I've been there 18 years and haven't seen girls shake their hips half as much as Miley does in this video. She's well on her way to being the next Britney, I'm sure we'll have a crotch shot by the time she's 18. I know its not completely her fault, its her parents for telling her it's acceptable to dance, dress and act like a grown woman but she's only 16, she's a freaking child. Someone should tell her to tone it down, it upsets me that my 8 yr old niece wants to be just like her as she's bunching up skirt to dress "like Miley", it absolutely disgusts me!
37When I saw this, it was kinda the last straw. I've had an inkling for the last few months that PS Inc in general wasn't aimed at me (34); don't watch MTv or Disney or read/watch the Twilight things. Then the change to the Sex/Culture page it's just so generic here. I don't know what I'm looking for but I know it's not on this site anymore. End grip.
38p.s. needless to say I didn't watch the vid but if I had to guess I would be "No"
39I usually don't like Miley's songs but this one has been catchy....so I took the time to watch the video. I was underwhelmed. It may be nit picky but in the words of the song this person (Miley) is actually arriving in Hollywood, so why make a video of yourself dancing around aimlessly in the desert. I don't get it?? Very boring.
I think this video that my friends and I watched last week is actually better and more entertaining

As for the "shes too young to dress like that" I just wanted to remind everyone of Britney in Hit Me Baby One More Time (she was 16 and was dressed worse than this, plus in my opinion was trying to act sexy) and Christina's getup in Genie in a Bottle (she was 17). This isn't a new phenomenon...and that doesn't make it right, but why flip out about Miley when she is not the first and definitely not the last. Not to mention those videos were ten years ago (!) so kids have only started to wear less since then.
40I would have no issue with it if she wasn't shoved down kids throats on Disney channel and Disney Radio. There is only so much parents can do...she can act like she has no responsibility to be a model for her young fans, but she does, a moral responsibility since she so Christian and all.
My little sisters see her everywhere, pandering to them and trying to get them hooked on her product...it is not okay for her to send these types of messages about clubs, suggestive dance (wtf is up with the booty pop?!) and sexy clothes.
She is no worse then most 16 yr olds true...but I wish she would market herself to 16yr olds and leave the children alone.
41Agree with QueenB75 and kr1sti - though I really don't agree about what kr1sti said about the video was 'Ok'.
42The video sucked - but that's my opinion.

Cool Song all the way but come on Miley you need better dance moves than bootie shakin Try something more classy than that.
43Miley is the next Britney/Lindsay/Mischa. Her parents are doing a terrible job with her. Just b/c your kid brings in the family's income does not mean you should let them be sexualized and exploited. I wish there were more Taylor Swifts in the music business...
44ewww ok first off all these little kids tht look up to her are going to end up nasty like her she looks like a wh*re...
45It's a terrible video, in my opinion.
But someone said, "My only issue is that it's not appropriate if she wants to keep her audience." She'll keep her audience. I didn't find the video that inappropriate. Are girls her age supposed to wear skirts to the floor and collars up to the chin (obviously not but...)?
Happsmjc stole the words from me, remember what Britney was wearing when she was seventeen?
The Spice Girls did even worse but as I recall, but me and every other girl in my firth grade class were literally obsessed.
I think compared to other girls her age in the industry in the past, she is still holding up a relatively good image.
I'm kind of questioning her talking about clubs and stuff when she still has a few years to go to be of legal age even though.
I can understand from her perspective however that she is thinking about her future career, she getting older now and wants to appeal to a larger audience. She's not going to be a little girl forever and I'm sure she wont be doing Hannah Montana for a lot longer. I have no idea how long she is on contract with Disney but I have this feeling that giving it a couple years, she will be doing her own thing.
46Hillary Duff has moved on from her Disney days as well, it's only a matter of time.
Younger girls than her wear less than that to school everyday! She may lose fan base, but not due to their own thoughts, but because their parents don't like what Miley's doing. She will also gain fan base as she transitions to an adult. She can do what she wants, so everybody needs to get over themselves and enjoy the good music she's making!
47Heart breaing news that Miley Cyrus is no more in Twitter. I got a video of it also just. Her fans are very crazy about her deletion of account from twitter. Its a news from http://www.celebrise.com/blog/2009/10/09/miley-cyrus-is-no-more-in-twitt...
48
and she has a great sense of style .x
49I know. apparently she doesnt want twitter kos her hot aussie boyfriend
doesnt have it
I love miley cyrus and im fifteen .
shes mad
I when I saw this video I was wondering if it really was Miley Cyrus... Has she joined the Pussycat Dolls or will she sometime soon. I love this song I just think that 2 inch shorts, a push up bra, revealing shirt and way too much eyeliner is a good approach for young girls. I personally love Miley but this video was just a bit over the top and my 7yr old sister loves her and the clothes she was wearing in this video I would never even wear to Halloween party let alone any where else and I hope that my sister will never wear anything that hoochie either.
