Is Mischa Ruining Her Own Career?

I feel bad for these girls who aren't that talented if at all, who are just cute enough and nice enough. Who were given their one shot and then got nothing to back it up with. Some go on to fill days shopping or dating other has-beens, but poor Mushy, just keeps trying.

I think people are kind of hating on her. I think she making the choices for the movies she is inspired to make and isn't caught up in the hype of Hollywood which is refreshing. It's also good to see her get out of that typecast thing that Hollywood loves to do so that she won't be constantly seen as "the girl from the O.C." I say Bravo to Mischa for making the choices that are right for her not right for the critics.

I liked her in The Sixth Sense and that's about it.

I'd say no matter how good or bad her movies may be, step 1 should be to quit aping Gwyneth Paltrow's red carpet look. She looks like a badly-sculpted Gwyneth doll with a polyester wig.

I think her not even sticking around the promote the movies she's doing shows she doesn't care enough. I've never seen any of her movies, but from TV I never thought she was THAT awesome. There's more talent out there

What career? She wasn't cast in the OC because of her talent that's for sure! And since then she can't find a vehicle to display her talent because she has none.

She's not terrible talented. I used to cringe watching her on The O.C. Her facial expressions were always so fake. Does anyone remember last summer how her director told her to take some acting classes? Yeah, they don't seem to have much faith in her either.

I don't even think Barton is all that nice. From the stories that I have read circling around, she's a major "female dog"...which actually sort of seems accurate, since she looks like Falcor the luckdragon with the doggy-like face in The Neverending Story!!!

I think you missed the part where she didn't go to the premiere of her own "outside the Hollywood box" movie, because she actually didn't want to participate any it. Sounds more like a "they checks stop coming" and she needed the work and now she's practically crapping on the filmmakers that took a chance by hiring her. How rude is that!?!

I never watched The O.C. so i never became a fan/or not of her! I think that she could pull herself together and pick projects she would actually be proud of...so it's a maybe for me!

Is she trying to pull a Lindsay? Not cool, that is sooo not professional, I mean they payed her to be in the movie so the least she could do is show up to the premiere.

Why participate in the filming of a movie that you know already sucks!!

That's the worst part of it BeautyXRush...is that they hired her and paid her and she can't respectfully show up and walk the carpet...so then we are back to the real question: Then why was Mischa Barton AT Cannes, anyway?

Why would anyone pay to see a movie when the actress who starred in it doesn't even believe in it? She'll have to scramble to find an excuse I would buy as to why she bailed on her own premier!

i said yes i do think that she's ruining her career - but we all have to remember that the only thing of decency that she's done was the OC and that's only if you were into the show (which i really wasn't). i just wish that she would realize that she's not as 'hot' as she seems to think she is.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I had to work I'm sure she was nicer when she first thought she was gonna have a long respectful and fruitful career. But now, oh yah, I'm sure she is a biotch.

thinking about it, i don't even know any truly successful movies where she performed exceptionally well...all she is famous for is the oc and crashing her cars into stuff

she wasn't that great to begin with even with all the hype around the oc. she was a fad and i sick of seeing her around.

I read an article that had several hotel employees claiming that she stayed there with her mother and talked to her mother like a dog. She was pissed and calling her mother an "idiot" as they were walking to an elevator and when they got on (with a few hotel employees) Mischa wouldn't look at her mother and kept calling her names, when her mom tried to get her to whisper instead, Mischa turned and screamed in her mom's face that she wished she'd never let her mother come with her. They said her mom was visibly upset and in tears as they stepped off the elevator.

Anyone who would talk to their own mom like that needs a kick in the AS@!

I still do not understand why she of all people gets invited to Cannes every year. Is the organization trying to trash out their reputation? Its like asking Paris Hilton to work for Planned Parenthood, completely in poor taste.

Yes-Mischa passed up the role of Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl! It's so funny that this is being published right now because literally just earlier today my friends and I were talking about what happened to her, and we all came to the conclusion that she wasn't a particularly talented actress and that we didn't need to see more of her. Michelle Trachtenberg is much better suited for such a devious role, though I would've loved to see Lindsay Lohan work her magic on GG.

I think she was really good when she was a really young girl, but now, not so much.

If she were ANY good she'd be working on decent projects now given her high profile. I don't feel sorry for her at all.

she can't blame her performance in this stinker on the director, the writing, the editing. she never had potential for longevity anyways because she just doesn't have talent! her popularity is based on being gorgeous, being stylish, & being "marissa": the girl all the hot guys beat each other up over.

even as a kid she got hired for why most kids get hired, not because she was talented (few are at that age, but everyone has "potential") but because she was cute & vulnerable looking and small for her age (every youth talent agent knows a 10 yr old can play a precocious 7 yr old better than a 7 yr old).

enough rambling, but sadly the movie "homecoming" she did looks even worse!

She really needs to get her act together. The O.C., drunk driving, and dating Cisco Adler is not really a "career," but she is ruining whatever she's got going. Those pics of her smoking pot don't really do much to enhance her image.

Harsh comments towards someone who was a teenager when The OC started filming. I don't know about anyone else, but I was not a whizbang at everything when I was 17. She is a beautiful 20-something woman who is trying to make her own path. Sure, she has made mistakes (who didn't in their twenties), but I think she is making good choices for herself. She could have easily taken roles that would have typecast her as the "california pretty, dimwitted girl" in any teen flick, or teen show for that matter. I am glad she did not take the GS role on GG, WAY to predictable of a move. I think she is just trying to find her way. I don't approve of her DUI or other drug behaviors, THAT will turn her into a nobody before she even gets started.

Ellen Page is a peer of Mischa Barton...Page represents someone that has made excellent career choices for herself. Barton absolutely PALES in comparison to her.

when Mischa was in the OC she was 1 of hollywood hottest stars and was always voted most beautiful etc. Then she got arrested for DUI which isnt good, and starred in some movies which i hear werent good. i think she has ruined her career and she probably doesnt want to keep playing a marissa type character so shes trying differnt roles. but her career aint so great now.

I have never seen anything she has been in (except Sixth Sense, of course). All I see and hear about her is bad. Hope she cleans up.
