*NSYNC vs. BSB — the Ultimate Showdown

Mar 21 2015 - 5:58pm

Believe it or not, *NSYNC's No Strings Attached album turned 15 years old on Saturday. In the years since the guys had us singing "Bye Bye Bye" on the bus ride home from school, the pop masterpiece has gone on to sell an astonishing 11 million copies [1]. And yet, to the dismay of some *NSYNC loyalists, the guys aren't the only boy band of our generation with impressive figures. On this special day, it's time to settle that '90s score: *NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys? Sure, it's perfectly OK to be a fan of both groups, but if the results of our boy-band poll [2] are any indication, when it comes to the reigning group of the '90s, it comes down to *NSYNC and BSB. Even in the early days, the comparisons between the two were inevitable, as they were each made up of five heartthrobs with smooth harmonies and coordinating outfits galore.

The Backstreet Boys have continued their boy-band career with a reunion tour and several appearances, while *NSYNC broke up in the early 2000s before their brief reunion performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. In 2014, Joey Fatone added fuel to the comparison fire when he joked [3] that the Backstreet Boys were touring because "they just need the money." All things considered, vote in each category before weighing in with your final answer on which '90s boy band was ultimately the best!
