We're very sad to report that Natasha Richardson has apparently been declared brain dead after a traumatic head injury caused by a ski accident. A family friend said "there is no chance" for her and "it's not official yet, but they basically will detach her [from life support]." Along with her own acting career, her husband is Liam Neeson, mother Vanessa Redgrave, and sister Joely Richardson. The past day has been spent swirling with rumors about the actress. She was transported to NY last night to be close to her family who have gathered for a vigil. Our hearts are with her friends and family at this tragic time.

I heard this two days ago, This is so sad... I remember seeing her and Liam Neeson act together in Nell, which was such a great performance by both. I hope her family have good support, what a loss, brrr horrible.

pretty or not no one deserves to die in a preventable accident like this, She was a talented woman, a wonderful mother and wife, an asset to both the big screen and stage and I will miss her performances on both. My prayers are with Liam, her boys, her mom and sister right now.

I just read the official statement from the family on another site stating that she is in fact, dead. I guess it was true after all. This is so heart breaking, shocking, and sad.

the ap just reported that she has died. how very tragic- i kept hoping that the 'friends' had reported false news and she would pull through.

I'm shocked and saddened. She was such a classy, beautiful lady. And she seemed to have such a solid relationship with her husband and family. It's such a shame that these type of tragedies always happen to such good people. God bless her.

I really hope that her family (especially husband and sons) can get through this extremely difficult time. As a Mom, I can't imagine being taken from my children by such a freak accident. It is just too sad to comprehend. :-(

I'm still holding out for a statement from the family. I just don't want to believe this. I'm so sad for her family. TBIs, subdural hematomas, aneurysms, etc scare the hell out of me. Natasha is one of my favorite actresses. I've seen her on stage and I've followed her career..she's just plain wonderful. I had an appointment this morning at Lenox Hill and it was insane to see camera crews all along Lexington and 77th and crowded around the main entrances. Keep praying for her.. I hope she pulls through.

This is so sad. It is just SO incredible. For her to have fallen on the beginner's slope(should've worn a helmet but I guess it doesn't matter now, does it?) and get up, walk it off, laugh it off, go to her cabin or whatever, complain of a headache/not feeling well and at the end of the day she is brain dead?(at least this is what I've read so far). It's not to say I don't believe because I know accidents like this have happened, but it just so SAD and SCARY. You can have an accident and walk away and thank your lucky stars but you really have no idea how hurt you are, you could be a ticking time bomb even if you have NO external injuries. Her loved ones are in my thoughts, I'm my just waiting for the inevitable news/statement now.

That is so sad.I watched Maid in Manhattan a few days ago and I was thinking how pretty she was.I hope she gets better and I won't believe she is brain dead until there is an official statement from her family.
