Paula Abdul Confirms She's Leaving Idol — Are You Sad?

Tonight, Paula Abdul announced on her Twitter page that she is not returning to American Idol. Now, Fox has issued a statement saying, "Paula Abdul has been an important part of the 'American Idol' family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she's a tremendous talent and we wish her the best." There have been a lot of rumors about this over the past few weeks, but we always thought they'd figure out a deal. So tell us — are you sad Paula is leaving American Idol?

I feel bad Paula has to leave but I dont like most of the comments in here.Why is everyone blaming it on Fox Kara and Simon and no one on Paula? No one seems to have watched the last season but everyone seems to have an opinion. She acted like crazy on several occasions then she made some out-of-space comments that made no sense whatsoever (there was an episode Simon had to stop her ) but what topped it for me was her performance on one of the finals. SHE SANG ON PLAYBACK. So if she CANT sing live why is she on the show to give ADVICE to these new talents about SINGING? Fox aint stupid to let her go so easily I bet there's more on this. As for Kara, she was told by Fox (after Simon complained) to KEEP IT LOW.It was on the news 1 month after she started taping. Watch the first episodes how she argues with Simon and watch her later. Didn't Kara "made" the bikini girl? And wasnt Kara who gave us the great finale singing LIVE? If there was one to go should have been Randy. At least Paula was crazy funny but this dude is boring. Same words same yo yo dawg same "didnt do it for me".

This is clearly a case of sexism. Ryan Seacrest was making 3 times as much as Paula! Ryan has no talent...is clearly easily replaced yet he gets 3 times more money??????? !!!!!!!!!!! Paula was a very important part of the show. I hope she sues them!!!!

I think it's a total bummer. She's such an integral part of that show. I think it'll be much more boring without her. I'm sad for her.

AI should keep Paula or its a big loss because she's family. Kara is so serious with no humor. We need a judge who is witty. She keeps repeating the same thing "artistry". We already got tired woth just one season. At least Paula makes us laugh and gives soul to the show. We need some compassion for the contestants. Paula is nurturing.

I am so upset about this news, one of the main reasons I watched idol every season was because of paula and her crazy antics. But deep down she really did have a passion and love for the new talent in America. Im sad to see her go, but will always love her many faces and antics on the show. I will miss her I didn't really like Kara too much but we will have to see how it goes. I agree though that if Simon should leave Im done.

NO - I can't stand that show past the try outs..Paula reminds me of a heroin addict nodding off, so she doesn't really bring anything...she is a horrible singer so critiquing anybody with even a little talent seems ironic...that new one, the wanna be whatever she is, is soooo annoying....

i've never really watched AI and im' not a huge fan but i think that it's a shame that she's not going to return. she's really a key part to the show and i feel like it just shows you that maybe it's lived it's life and we should move past the AI phenomenon

Paula has more money than God, at this point. If AI was taking it's toll on her, then she's better off resting and spending her hard-earned $$

I'll miss her, but not because she's a great judge, but because I will sorely miss her incoherent comments and overall craziness.

I will miss Paula simply because she was a good laugh. Her comments never made sense, and she always seemed drunk on on valium. It was always, "You're a star!" "You are you, and there's no one else like you!" "I love you!" She was sweet and her intentions were always in the right place, and I appreciate that she used positive reinforcement to try and encourage the contestants. But come on: one season she told someone she liked their first song better than their second song, and they hadn't even performed twice yet! She definitely lacked some professionalism. I will miss the dynamic between her and Simon, though. The only judge I really like is Simon. He has the most legitimate resume as far as putting groups together and getting artists started. Randy, Kara, and Paula all say the same things over and over again, and it gets boring. "That was hot, dawg!" "That's artistry!" "You're a star! This is only the beginning for you!" Simon is the ONLY one who offers substantial and useful critiques. When he leaves, the show will be done.

American Idol is on it's way down hill. Paula rocks and it's sad AI couldn't realize that. Kara better get a personality quick if she expects to fill Paula's shoes because know one cares to hear her same comment about "artistry" over and over again.

Personally I think Kara is great. She makes her feedback time worthwhile, has constructive suggestions good thoughts to back it up. While I do enjoy Paula on the show I feel like while most of her feedback is positive and encouraging she often just talks around in circles.

I would much rather her return than Kara, although I barely watch the show I know she added very little when she commented. I think that Paula will regret not returning, not to be mean, but there is probably not much else out there for her career wise.

It's sad Paula is leaving, who will Simon argue with because Kara doesn't have the same attitude or history. I really wish they would've booted Kara and kept Paula. Oh well though as others have said the show will go on and probably still be top in the ratings. I hated last season all together, I don't think anyone was really good and yes that included Adam (he annoyed me). I will dvr everything again next season and enjoy the auditions because let's face it that's the best part of the season.
