Last night's People's Choice Awards marked the beginning of award season, and we were more than a little excited to pore over all of the gorgeous red-carpet looks. We were treated to a few minidress moments, sexy gowns, and lots of bold color, but there were five looks in particular that caught our discerning eye. Favorite comedic movie actress winner Jennifer Aniston wooed us in a black fit-and-flare leather dress by Christian Dior, Naomi Watts dazzled in a stunning black and gold gown by Alexander McQueen, and Taylor Swift switched up her style game in a plunging V-neck white gown by Ralph Lauren finished off with blue statement danglers. When it comes to award season, everyone is going for the gold statuette. But a few stars from the People's Choice Awards decided to incorporate the color into their makeup palette, too. Gold eye makeup and blue eyes complement each other perfectly, so Taylor Swift had the right idea when she swiped on an array of gold-flecked shades. Likewise, Tempestt Bledsoe wore a sheer gold dust and even added a speckle of shimmer to her burgundy lipstick to tie the entire look together. Lastly, Olivia Munn chose a metallic frosted shadow that nearly disappeared on her bronzed skin. Adding a mineral hue like gold is one way to convert barely there makeup into something red-carpet ready.

Makeup artist Jillian Dempsey's goal was to play up Jennifer's striking blue eyes in a way that was sophisticated but still playful. Smoldering, smoky eyes were perfectly offset by punchy peach lipstick.

Jillian started by swiping on Giorgio Armani's Maestro Liquid Eyeliner ($31) for a sexy, winged-out cat eye. She then blended gray and champagne hues over Jennifer's lids, finishing the eyes with several coats of Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara ($27). Baby-pink lipstick and a pop of Hourglass Sheer Cheek Stain in Peachy Pink ($45) pulled the look together. The result was an updated Bardot silhouette, ideal for a modern-day beauty icon like Jennifer.
