Zach Braff is the latest celebrity to be spotted with what looks like a certain illegal substance rolled into a joint in his hand. The Scrubs actor was relaxing with SI Swimsuit Issue model Esti Ginsburg at a party at the Greenhouse in NYC last night. While Braff's behavior is not as in your face as Michael Phelps and his infamous bong photo, smoking pot (if that's what he is doing) is still illegal. So tell us, what do you think about seeing photos of Zach Braff lighting up — funny or lame?
I might just be naive, but why does no one ever assume these are just roll-your-own cigarettes??? Although he does seem to be enjoying it A LOT doesn't he.
1Lame- celebs should be more careful, considering they're in the public eye
2since when is it cool to smoke pot?? If he were a teen star maybe I wouldn't be so surprised. But an "adult" smoking pot, guess he should know better.
3distracted by how tight he crosses his legs...major turnoff.
4It's Braff, I really don't care what he does. If the President or a guy I'm with smokes pot, then I have a problem.
Who cares...people get way more jacked up on alcohol than pot.
5I thought he was dating Shiri Appleby. Anyway, he should probably be more careful smoking in public.
6Who cares? I think it needs to be legalized, I know I would love to be able to buy it legally. I enjoy a joint a couple of times a month and prefer it to drinking.
7This is about as interesting as posting that a celebrity was drinking beer in public. Now if said celebrity had just come back from rehab, THAT would be interesting.
Never understood why people thought smoking pot was a big deal, but think getting wasted off of alcohol is perfectly acceptable.
8I don't think this is "funny," but I also don't think it's any worse than him having a drink. Yes, marijuana is illegal so he is legally, technically in the wrong, but if this is the worst thing that he's done, then he's probably doing okay.
9It could just be a cigarette... people still roll their own... it's WAY cheaper... And even if it was marijuana, who cares?! I find it neither funny nor lame. It just is.
10...please pass to the left.
11The polls on this site never have enough options or the options posted are kind of stupid (funny or lame? There are a dozen other responses, as in not interested, disapproving, annoyed, don't like zach braff anyway, love zach braff, and so on). At least there should always be a "who cares?" option. The Fug girls know how to do polls--they always seems to provide a response that I'm willing to choose.
12wow Molly, I can't believe "funny" would even be an option.
13God, I really do not care if he is smoking pot. Seriously, who the hell cares?
14This says more about the prevalence of camera phones and the need for regulation or legislation to outlaw those sneaky little bastards than it does about the state of Hollywood actor's illegal substance use. Nothing has changed. It's been this way since the early 20th century. Same with Phelps. The fact that the picture exists is the story not what's going on at a party or a club. If you're honestly surprised by this behavior then I suggest pulling your head out of the sand. It's a nice day and you're missing it.
15I don't really think it is "funny" but I don't care. Tons of people smoke pot and it isn't really a big deal. The reason Michael Phelps was a big deal is because he is considered a hero and role model and as an Olympic gold medalist people look at you differently. People aren't going to be disappointed because an actor smoked weed, if that even is what he has in his hand
16it's amazing the commenters on here that admit to regualrly smoking pot. IT'S ILLEGAL and buying it contributes to a drug lord some where down the line and many many people breaking the law..that's right, having so little regard for the law, that they take the chance of getting high, to break it. It's stupid and bad example, I don't care how "fun" something is..it's illegal for a reason and it's law for a reason. Having sex with minors might be fun for some, BUT IT'S ILLEGAL and laws should be followed.
17I think his face is priceless! It is the face people always make while imitating someone smoking pot. But also lame, because what is he, like 35?
18PensaGrey I thought the same thing about his legs being crossed so tightly! I think that is funnier then seeing him smoking. That and him trying to show off his few cheast hairs with that low cut shirt.
19I agree with everyone else who doesn't care. Celebrities aren't role models. Get over it.
BTW, the violence associated with the drug trade would be eliminated if it was legalized. Just saying...
20SugerLoaf,
21"buying it contributes to a drug lord" because "IT'S ILLEGAL".
If it wasn't, what justification would you antagonize it with?
You should question your justice system instead of accepting that "it's a law for a reason". Shouldn't you know the reason?!
Lame
22excuse me while i lit my spliff...ok i just dont think its a big deal, in california its a ticket! so much for the whole "ooo its illegal" bullsh*t.AB 390 was just introduced into the california senate to LEGALIZE! fingers crosssed it will one day pass. besides just because something is illegal is it wrong? who is the government to tell me i cant smoke a plant? but its oh so fine to down a bottle of jack! just keep listening to what alcohol companies want you to do. as for "drug lords" uh unless your smokin mexican brick weed im sure the marijuana most people buy comes froms a regular dude with a little card that says it is legal for him to grow.
23WHO CARES? The only reason why marijuana was made illegal in the first place was to keep illegal aliens that were bringing it into the country OUT......tons of people smoke pot, myself included, and I say to each their own. And to SugerLoaf if pot was legalized there would be no drug lord, the government could tax it and it would actually be a lot safer. AND people are so much more stupid when intoxicated than when stoned......get your facts straight
24Marihuana was made illegal for reasons outside of health, or "drug lords". Getting high is also an arbitrary term, as many substances are psychoactive, legal and otherwise. Also, most the the weed bought by people of means (pure, unadulterated) comes from small enterprises, namely hippies.
25The illegal status of the plant is what feeds the system of drug catrels and gangs. Violence is always related to what the government controls: it used to be alcohol, now its drugs.
wackydeli are you serious? Most of weed comes from a guy with a card that says he can buy it??? OMFG get real. How many little men with cards do you think would have to exsist for the amount of pot to be produced that is sold around the country???
As far as it being illegal and why, why yes I do know why...it's because it's classified as a Schedule I drug on the basis that is has "a high potential for abuse." How many hard core drug users started out with "harmless" pot..you people are clueless. Teenagers getting high are 92% more likely to have unprotected sex. When you're high, most people do things they wouldn't normally do if they were straight. Most of the pot sold in America is grown illegally here in America. Not bought with a card that you get from having cancer in California. Unbelievable that someone would even think that way..it's already fried your brain cells...
26People need to grow up... you're 'suppose' to do that kind of stuff as a teen... not as an adult... Anything altering your original state of mind cannot be very safe. How can you be yourself when you aren't yourself? And now I will wait for people to bash me... since apparently, not doing drugs is uncool these days.
27i dont think its funny or lame. Who cares either way, honestly? Lots of people do it. To each their own. Not to mention hes an adult capable of making his own decisions. and to le romantique....come down off your high horse...being so judgemental is unflattering.
28Proving my point.
29lol..when you're incontinent ..having to wear diapers and letting your kids make your decisions because you can't...I think that's more unflattering than being judgmental.
30Until I'm not proved differently I'll say he's a broken actor and has to roll his own cigarettes.
31One way or another, he's a grown man and knows what he's doing, and likely knows about the health issues - whether he's smoking pot or ordinary tobacco. It's just not so smart to get photographed while smoking - whatever he smokes.
the "high" feeling is neuron's NOT connecting..when you come down it is said that some of these neurons NEVER go back and fit together like they did before. OVer time more and more neuron's do not fit together...honestly, look at Ozzy..prime example of drug use gone on for too long.
32I don't care if he is a celeb or not, it's none of our business if he tokes. If anything, Pop, you should let up on this, it's not an evil thing, the stigma is still strong. Sugarloaf, any drug will have a wierd side affect, especially prescription drugs. Did you know that you cannot overdose smoking marijuana? Did you know that 12 states have legalized it in one way or another for medical purposes? How is it so harmful, I'd really like this list and the exact study to which it came from. I think you should visit www.NORML.org. There's a lot of great articles shining the true light on marijuana.
There has been a bad stigma on marijuana that obviously still hasn't lifted yet. Please, before you judge, just think about all the pills you pop thinking it won't harm you. When you get older and start having internal or mental problems, don't say I didn't tell you so.
Plus, we all die at one point or another, so just live your life the way you want and be happy. It is NO ONE's right, even by God to judge, so give the dude a break.
33OMG. Let's get a lil more preachy, shall we?
34Absolutely. As a psych major I worked with many professors who researched the stuff. There is no lethal dose, and the principle of altering your consciousness is not harmful or beneficial in and by itself. Some psychoactive agents are harmful (Oxy, coke), others are not (caffeine, marihuana). There is no long lasting effect, rather than temporary loss of one set of skills, yet gain of others, that wears off.
Children act crazy on weed because as teens, they exaggerate everything. Anyone remember pretending to trip on weed or acting like you are Jim Morrison after a single cocktail? Adults who smoke marihuana and lead a healthy lifestyle (MANY) are normal, successful, and sometimes very intelligent, just like the rest of adults. It does not make you act that different nor does it impede any functions.
Ozzy is the way he is because of many, many things unrelated to pot. Look at people like Richard Branson, Willie Nelson, Sean Penn, Frida Khalo.
35Please, who cares? And, smoking marijuana is not illegal everywhere in the US.

I've been in a lab and saw how many brain cells are detroyed by caffeine. PLease don't sit there and pretend to know what you're talking about. Anything that you ingest and causes a reaction in your brain, to the degree of feeling "high" IS NOT GOOD. Oxycontin is taken to relieve pain, when taken correctly you can't even tell you took it.. (because it is so slow dissolving, over 12 hours)...it's people who crush it, and inject it that abuse what it's purposes are.
Don't be fooled by the "it has no leathal dose" statment...even water when taken too much can kill you. How can you people be so uninformed to think it's good for you? It gives you the munchies, so what? It's given to people to stimulate their appetite who have AIDS and cancer. To say that it does not impede any functions is pure lunacy...all I can say is sounds like you've had a lot of rag weed in your day and have never had anything good..what do you think "stoned" means? It means you certainly have some functions that are impeded.
You're a psych major? I'm a nurse..Im surprised you didn't know that caffeine kills brain cells.
37Sean Penn said in a Rolling Stone interview that unlike his "Spicolli" character, he did not regularly smoke weed.
38You are 67% more likely to have a heart attack while smoking pot after the age of 45 than if you did not. How can you say it has no ill effects?
39why do people get so hotile over weed? seriously many people have different oppinions about it accept it, dont go crazy man and call peopel you dont even know idiots.
40CHILL OUT.
and as for the picture i find it kinda lame but dont really care too much about.
I don't care.
41I think it's lame these pictures are posted here and you're asking us what we think about it.
42LAME! He has dropped in my opinion.
43who cares? it's not funny, but its not anything really.
44lame....
45Children act crazy on weed because as teens, they exaggerate everything. _____
I'm sorry but that's a really stupid statment. They act crazy on weed because that's what it does to you. I remember getting pulled over by a cop and trying my hardest to act straight and couldn't because I was so stoned. It had NOTHING to do with me exaggerating anything. I didn't like the paranoia and I didn't like the feeling of not being in control. Those are bad feelings to have for a few hours and can do NOTHING to come down and feel normal again ..the only thing you can do is wait it out and hope you don't do anything stupid in the mean time. I've had many different potencies..and some only made me laugh..but some made me feel like I was losing my mind (it placed 2nd in the World Cannabis competition in Amsterdam) and that is never good I don't care what any of you say
46I'm more offended by that ugly shirt he's wearing.
47It smells like troll in here.
48This post has some heated comments but I'd like to throw in my two cents worth anyway ... I'm neither pro or anti marijuana, but my thought is if pot is illegal, then why isn't alcohol also? More have been killed by alcohol abuse so why is that legal and glamorized by society? I take this stance because I've been personally touched by the effects of DUI ...... on a lighter note, must be some good sheet Zach's smoking cause he's taking a deep toke. Shame on the person who sold out Zach for a couple of bucks.
49To all the people dissing pot/pot smokers, although some of you seem educated, realize pot has been illegal now for close to 80 years. That's 80 years of people being taught false information about marijuana, or just the facts about its harm, not about it's benefits. Its safe to say that not smoking weed is safer than smoking weed. Even though this is true, its safe to say smoking weed and obtaining the "high" sensation, is much safer than drinking alcohol to excess. Long term effects of alcohol are much more serious than long term marijuana use. Alcohol has been linked to various diseases, and cancer, as where marijuana has not. Nearly 100,000 people die every year from alcohol overdose (minus the people who died in drunk driving accidents), yet there has never been one marijuana related death in the history of the world. SugarLoaf, congrats on being a nurse, but you fall under the category of the typical brainwashed American. Okay, so you described what marijuana does to you while you smoke it, but forgot to mention the fact that marijuana has actually been proven to reduce the chance of getting a tumor.
50So...let me quickly talk about alcohol. As you all know, or maybe not, Alcohol Prohibition was set in place in the 1920's with the hopes that it would reduce crime, and lower government spending. Well that just worked great. Not just did crime increase, and organized crime began to become popular, but government spending shot out the roof. The Marijuana Tax Act in 1937 officially prohibited marijuana. Has anyone ever seen the movie "Reefer Madness"? If you didn't, it pretty much is a joke. Basically, the movie is saying if you smoke pot, you WILL go crazy. Pretty ridiculous, but this is what people actually believed back then because they didn't have the science to disprove it. Well, times have changed.
