Angelina Jolie Suprises A-Listers at Hollywood Film Festival

It was an exciting evening in Hollywood when Angelina Jolie showed up to hand Clint Eastwood the Director of the Year award at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards last night. Actors like Ryan Gosling, James Franco, Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and so many more dressed up to honor their peers at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The audience was surprised when Angelina strutted out fresh from her recent trip to Afghanistan to speak about Clint. She said:

"There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they'll live up to what we imagine them to be. And Clint Eastwood in person is even better. Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere."

Clint returned the compliments as usual talking about Angelina's talent and beauty. With award season still a few months away, this is just a taste of what's to come and which famous faces we should get used to seeing on all the red carpets.

God, why did I come back on here to see? LOVE ANGELINA - some people aren't enamored with your lady love and view things a tad bit more objectively than you might. Just to play devil's advocate. Haven't you been predicting Oscar nom since before you viewed the film? That's a bit skewed. Believe me, not every film Clint or Angelina has touched is legendary film making. That's just pure fantasy and can't be said about ANYONE. Get real.

People who use the terms "saint" or "idol" or "Worship" regarding Angelina are 100% her detractors or haters, Fans don't use the terms and the vast majority of her fans to say nothing of AJ herself find it incredibly silly. People respond to Angelina on the internet in various ways but her champions are usually those people who feel she is unfairly defamed. I can't think of another person in my whole long life who is so minutely studied, who has their every action or utterance dissected and twisted in order to denigrate who they are.

Sorry but the movie didn't win any awards in Cannes, some people do live where they could see the movie. The movie did get a 2 star rating, even Clint Eastwood has made some movies that weren't good. The reveiws were about 50/50. If you worship Angelina you will like it, if you don't you won't. It does look like Clint has the hots for Angelina.

Well Benna I didn't say you should every piece of crap to determine if its good, I said you shouldn't badmouth a film you haven't seen. You can't say a film is good or bad until you have seen it. Since I saw the Changeling I can tell you with perfect confidence it was a great movie.

Cliniqua, just like Amandahugginkiss said, some of us live in LA (or NY) and/or work in the Industry. I in no way hate AJ (I could care less about her personally and I've liked some of her films (Gia, Girl Interrupted, etc.) and I haven't liked other ones), I ACTUALLY do like Eastwood and think he's a pretty good filmmaker (Unforgiven, anyone?), and as for the subject matter, no I didn't care for it, but I HAD to see it for work, so...

some people on this site live in big cities such as new york and los angeles where changeling is playing so it's not that far fetched to surmise that some people have seen it. also, some of us who frequent this site work in the publishing or movie industries and have seen the film. i haven't seen the film but i write and edit for a major magazine here in nyc and i know people who have seen the film...

See that's where all of this gets twisted, its rare that anyone professes their admiration for a celebrity they way SOME do for angelina, I'm the opposite jude c I am a big fan of julia roberts and I could careless either way what people think of her because it won't affect my life, I too will call her a wh*re and a sl*t because that's what she is she fucked a married man, the difference is I liked her as an ACTRESS before I knew she was a wh*re.

The people saying they saw Changeling, are SUCH lying haters. Hahahaha! First off: Changeling has NOT even released wide yet - it was only in 15 theaters this past weekend, and despite that fact, had one of the top grossing per theater averages this year. The film received sterling reviews when it came out at Cannes, a standing ovation, and has since racked up amazing reviews from all that count, since then - they are saying this is one of Eastwood's finest films and one of Jolie's best performances of her career (which is saying a lot since she already has an Oscar 3 Golden Globes and 2 SAG Awards, and enumerable OTHER critics nods). As for the review sites that COMPILE every review from no-name bloggers to Rolling Stone -- AGAIN, the film has not released wide, so all the reviews haven't even come out yet by a long shot. That said, why do some of you, uber-critical snarky Jolie haters claiming to have seen the film (LIES) - expect us to believe that you would go out of your way to see a film that's ONLY in limited release and is only playing in 15 theaters across the nation, despite the fact that you neither like the leading lady, subject matter or the filmmaker?! Yet you want us to believe you've seen it in one of the 15 theaters?? Stop your lying you nasty haters. LOL Just who do you think you're talking to? LOL

Natalie looks cute, did she cut her hair? I think Kristin Scott Thomas has very good chances to win the Oscar, I mean, it's about time. Angelina has pretty good chances too, her performance in The Changeling is good, although I still think her best performance was in A Might Heart. Angelina already has an Oscar, so maybe somebody else should win.

It just seems odd to me (and now I'm not talking about you personally, just people whose comments I've seen online in general) how polarizing a celebrity must be that people who dislike her aren't satisfied just with tearing her apart, but also mocking her fans.Like, I really, really hate Julia Roberts with every breath in my body, but I don't remember ever feeling comepelled to mock her fans?Oh well. At least we agree on the important issues, eh? ;)

some of her fans are good friends of mine in real life and i would never deign to mock them. but like i said, some people consider her their idol and a saint in the making. so what's a non-fan to do? and i have heard worse from people about other actors and their fans. but such is life. and if we all agreed on everything, the world would be a boring place. although i am a diehard liberal like you appear to be and am proud of it as well. :)

*I'm not one to criticize someone for being critical of a celeb, since I just posted that Ali Lohan looks like a 45-year-old cocktail waitress in a cheap Vegas casino ;) Again, it's more just the tone taken towards her fans that got to me.
