Some of the new records revealed in this year's Guinness World Records 2010
edition include a top spot for one of the industry's most bankable stars,
Angelina Jolie, who claims the title as "Most Powerful Actress"*. This is
Jolie's second year at the top spot, she held the title last year with her
beau Brad Pitt. The tide has turned for Pitt though, with Johnny Depp
reclaiming the title of "Most Powerful Actor"* based on his most recent films
including the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

"From wizards and superheroes to vampires and Vulcans, this was a fantastic
decade for Hollywood and Guinness World Records was there to capture it all,"

Good to see her living by example. It's not easy to juggle career, family life and philanthropy, but clearly she is very committed to make the time.

I disagree anonymous #12. Juggling family, career and philanthropy, even with help. is much tougher than say... sitting around anonymously criticizing people who actually make an effort. Being a nameless coward taking cheap shots on the internet at people for trying to help others is much, much easier.

She is doing nothing that is more special or more dedicated then the thousands of people doing the same thing every day all over the world - the only thing that makes people see her is the camera. What about the people who give up months of their lives, not just a few hours? The volunteers who actually live in the villages, not fly in and stay at the nearest 5 star hotel.

Yes she's doing a nice thing, but it's nothing all that special when you look at the big picture.

I'm not a fan of her film work or the way she conducts her Hollywood life but on a more humanistic note, there's no denying that she's done and still doing some great things. However, I do think that she needs to start and end each day with a nice hearty meal if she intends to continue raising her family and helping these unfortunate people.

I kind of have to agree with Anon 23 but I guess the difference would be that she has the "star power" to bring awareness to these otherwise ignored issues.

Some of these comments have nothing to do with her agenda and mission. The purpose of this thread is to bring attention to the plight of hundreds of thousand of displaced human beings that have been all but forgotten. They are all human just like us. Most of us live a very comfortable life opposed to famine, disease and hunger. All of the minute things that we take for granted are missing from their everyday lives. Women and children are dying every second due to water shortage, malnutrition due to a corrupt and an inefficient goverment. Some comments are more concern with Angelinas weight, diet and overall apperance. The big picture is this; She is doing something possitive, constructive and to bring awearness to these deplorable conditions.
These reason Angelina can stay in a 5 star hotel is because she can, don't use that as a negative for an otherwise great endevour. Be more positive.

Billions have been sent there and I'm not sure it is
helping the people that really need the help. Madonna
and Mia have both been doing this for a long time and
they spend a lot more time there, yet we very seldom
even here about Mia. At any rate right at the present
time the USA is in need of a lot of help too. When
job benifits run out and Social Security and Medicare
who is going to care for all those people. Planning
a little ahead might help all the people living in
tents here and not having enough food. You can always
find someone to help if you are looking.

i swear i used to love her for all this that she did, but now i just cant sense genuineness in her work anymore (also i read the book deadaid) .. i know know she doesnt need publicity and doesnt need to travel half way across the world to get her picture taken, but what makes her look better- a dinner trip with brad pitt or talking to refugees in a poor country and shooting them pitiful looks?

She's a good person. Have no idea about her agenda or what but she's doing some good work. Of course she has the resources, time and the fame to be able to do it. People care when Jolie cares. Thankfully she is willing to put in the time and money to do it.

Here we HAVE a voice. Your reprentatives, if you vote, is your voice. All the demonstrations that are going on here is the by product of dissent that something is not working in our present goverment. If you get involved your voice will be heard. If you decide to sit back and let some else take that up the baton, we will certainly be in trouble.

In Kenya and Somalia the general population have no voice and the goverment does not even exist or is terribly corrup. Years of civil war, terrorism have created an abhorrent situation. Modonna has not inspired the international community to do what it needs to be done. Mia Farrow on the other hand, has done a lot but gossip and other nagative personal news backlashed her causes.

Angelina has not inspired the "international community" to do what needs to be done either.

There will always be sides to this debate. If one thinks that Ms. Jolie "work" is for the greater good and deserve praise and admiration so be it. On the other hand if you dislike her as a person, actor or anything else nothing she does will change your mind. Plain and simple.

Angelina is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR. The United Nations High Commissioner for REFUGEES. Billions haven't been sent to refugees. Quite the contrary. Any goodwill ambassador is supposed to being awareness though their activities. If you don't want to see the refugees or AJ with the refugees what are you doing on this thread?
