Angelina Jolie cozied up to some soldiers while she was visiting troops and refugees in Baghdad, Iraq yesterday. She joked around and smiled big between more serious moments when she spoke to officials about the situation in the country. From there, Angelina was off to Amman, Jordan to visit with the Arab Children's Congress, where she was honored for her work with the UNHCR. She brought Maddox along for this trip abroad — he's just a few weeks away from his eighth birthday and old enough to accompany his mom as she shows her him the issues she is so passionate about.

Every organization out there that helps people is also in the business of making money. Red Cross, Heffner, Unicef they are huge and are doing very well financially by helping people. They are able to afford big celebrities like Jolie to go to Middle East for a few days. Her work is what we call "mouthpiece". Makes appearance, travels, generates publicity, that kind of stuff. The notion that she does out of her own altruistics reasons is very naive and out of touch. Her and many other celebs are on the payroll, which I gotta say is a "win-win" situation. She gets them publicity and scors points with public for herself. Simple.

Hi SandyFeet!For the dubious, yes, the publicity that this brief trip brings couldn't be bought for millions of dollars, bringing attention to the issue. That is the goal of the organization when they planned this trip for her. Unless you have information on their goals and objectives, you really can't know how and why the rewards outweigh the costs.

Against my better judgement I will comment on this thread. I am a fan not a loony as some of you call her fans. I do admire her efforts as a humanitarian and a person that has seen more of this world and its cruelty than any of you. Does it matter you that the money that she has spent in her travels did not come from your hard earn dollars? The UN gets grants from many goverments across the world and it is not only a US program. As far as Brad belief in God, how does that affect you and your life and why should you care? Freedom of religion (belief). People lost their lives to reach this continent for that freedom. In another thread someone made a comment that Angelina and Brad never read these comments, so why do you continue to write all this garbage if they don't read it. Because like children, some of you like to infuriate the fans plain and simple. Why do you care about her veins, is it yours? I will not call you haters but juvelines, just grown up you sound like imbeciles.Travel more, do more than comment here and give a few hours of your time to something that will bring joy to someone else. This is for the usual suspects, now get a life.

I read somewhere that Angie wanted to get some horses for her living room so everybody can saddle up and watch TV... I don't know about horses. Sounds rather uncomfortable to me. But I've been thinking about getting a giant stuffed tigress to use as a TV couch...

How is her being 2 days in Middle East helpful????? Do you people know how much money that trip costs? How many children could have been fed with the money she spent on travel? When she was in Namibia to give birth to Shiloh, did you people know how much money that country lost by her and Pitt refusing tourists to enter it. Her and her boyfriend were approving the visas, believe it or not. There are tons of articles on the Web describing that i detail. You can read them or you can go directly to JJ and pray on the altar of Holie and StuPitt.

it's nice to see Angelina use her fame for good, not evil. OF course it's all publicized...she can't do anything without it being public knowledge. As for the vein: even that's beautiful!!! (Now, if it was a big, nasty chin,that would be another thing....) Natural beauty is the most impressive...

And I really don't like posting comments from other threads but I saw this (at Flickr) and thought it was lovely. A soldier posted some pictures there and someone said "I know you guys were happy!! Hope you had some fun" on the first comment, he then answered: You can't imagine! She is the most awesome, friendly, cheerful, wonderful woman. To think she traveled 7000 miles; she could do anything and be anywhere, but she came by to share her incredible smile with us. We all walked out of there giddy. And hours later we're all still smiling ear to ear. Even the cynical guys fell in love. And she isn't just a celeb who came to shake hands, she went out on patrol with our Bravo Company today, just before this, to meet with displaced Iraqis, outside the wire, in the streets of Baghdad. Something A LOT of the soliders on FOBs can't say they've ever done. Aside from technical screw-ups, it is impossible to take a bad photo of this woman. Every angle, every expression is pure beauty. :true:

I noticed every single vein and, oh my god! How dare I still think she has one of the most beautiful faces I have ever seen? Well, because she hasone of the most beautiful faces I've ever seen, vein and all. Also very noticeable? How genuinely happy she and those around her are.

Do you really think that a three day very expensive trip helped the people over there much? Some of you are talking about how wonderful she is, but are you talking about what you could be doing to help the people. When all the attention is focused on her is it really helping. How many of you actually sat down, wrote a check or came up with some way you could help. She really isn't the only star to visit the soldiers and I am sure they enjoyed it but we are getting so many mixed messages. As a country we are trying to conserve fuel, go green and do everything we can to help but not everyone is doing that. Her boy friend is saying he doesn't believe in god. That had to have hurt his parents, they go to church all the time.

people keep saying the vein is because she's getting older...I've seen that vein in pics she's taken 10 yrs ago, back when she admitted to being on drugs...I think she's got high blood pressure or doing still on the drugs. Narcotics will increase the pressure in the veins and make them more prominant. I don't know for sure ofcourse, but it's not normal for a vein to protrude THAT much and so often..because sometimes she has it and others NOT..so there is a reason for the change in pressure.
