Movie star and intellectual James Franco had reading material in hand yesterday as he arrived at LAX. He's in California after a detour to Germany, where he hit the red carpet for a premiere of Howl at the Berlin Film Festival. That wasn't James's only project screening there, a short movie he made called The Feast of Stephen was also in contention. The piece, based on a homoerotic poem by Anthony Hecht, won Best Short Film when the ceremonies wrapped over the weekend. He's out there promoting his heavier fare, but his sense of humor is still intact — he recently chatted about the rumored Pineapple Express sequel.
