Johnny Depp arrived in Belgrade, Serbia, this morning ahead of the country's Kustendorf Film and Music Festival, and one of his first orders of business was sitting down with the country's president, Boris Tadic. The actor, who's one of your top male stars of 2009, is back in Europe after a recent stop at the People's Choice Awards in LA to pick up the Favorite Movie Actor of the Decade distinction. There's more back-patting in store for Johnny at the Kustendorf, as he's there to participate in a "retrospective of greatness" look back at his career before a life-sized bust in his likeness is unveiled in the village of Drvengrad.
To see more Johnny, just read more.
he looks freaky. too much botox!
I'd like a life-sized bust of his likeness in my house, please.
he tries so hard at being unattractive...it just does not work!!
I'm generally in favor of starts wearing whatever the hell they want, but OH MY GOODNESS, you're meeting with the President of a foreign nation, Johnny, make an effort.
I'm definitely no longer a fan of that man..why would he go to Serbia for Kusturica's festival? He's a fascist...
i love that man!
@anonymous,Refrain yourself form being ignorant, going to Serbia makes him a fascist? You obviously don't know the meaning of the word..
P.S. No one cares about your opinion
Love him forever . No matter what. Lol
hot!!!!!!
I think Silly3 is spot on. I love Johnny Depp and he usually has his own thing going which is cool, but come on man, you wouldn't meet Obama or Sarkozy dressed like that!
Estelle2009, I think Anonymous is saying that Kusturica (guy that built the town) is a fascist, not Johnny Depp, the sentence just wasn't very well structured. If you think Kusturica isn't a fascist by supporting Milosevic, you know, the guy charged with crimes against humanity and genocide, *you* are the one that is ignorant.
No, people who believe everything they hear on the corporate "news" channels (stories effectively disseminated by PR companies like Ruder Finn who were in the employ of the Croatian/Bosnian Muslim camp) and the propaganda put out by a US-led NATO (Clinton politics are an even bigger joke than Bubba Bush's) are the clueless ones. Johnny Depp is friends with Emir Kusturica, from way back. Why wouldn't he attend his film festival? Kusturica is anti-Fascist and anti-imperialist. He's anti-globalization, too. So, these anti-Serb comments are from folks who are anti-Serb because they are a member of one of the warring Balkan parties, or they are those people who think they are very liberal and aware of what is happening in the world, but really don't.
"Love him forever . No matter what. Lol"...AGREED
Hehehe, Emir is not a fascist, he's a great (down to earth) guy but apparently some people think different for who know what reason. Depp is having a lead role in his new movie about Pancho Villa. That's the reason why he is in Serbia, apart from being Emir's friend.
he is the SEX
He looks ratty but he seems like a genuinely nice person.
no matter what, i love you johnny depp.
looking like beetlejuice is not hot. typical depp-nuts in denial. yuck
I've just become a bigger Depp fan than ever. The Serbs are a great people and Belgrade is a happening place these days. As usuual, Depp is at the forefront and way ahead of the typical dumb U.S./CNN mentality that simplifies a story. Johnny and Emir are the most independent thinking indivuduals in film. By the way, Emir is a Bosnian Muslim who left the extreme Islamic mentality bubbling over there and moved to Serbia. Never hear that one of CNN!
HOT!
@IamBatMan, Depp was in Serbia during `90es supporting serbian people.Does it make him fascist? You are even more ignorant then Anonimous making such a stupid comment full of prejudices.
First of all,I want to thank "Great Canadian" for this nice words about Serbs. I am Serbain, and I think that everyone who said that Kusturica is a fascist (or Johnny, whatever) are really immature. You are just too related to the past and the past of Serbs doesn't necessary need to mean that everything is same now as it was than. And it's not same. You're not even trying to think about other option-that Serbs are actually good people! At least Johnny Depp made an effort and came to see that. And guess what? He said he like Serbia AND Serbs!
Belgrade is Europe's last "best kept secret" of art, history and culture. You have to go see it to believe it. I spent over three months there this summer and can't wait to get back. The nightlife there easily puts to shame that of many other bigger cities in Europe and the US and trust me you have never seen so many hot women and men in one place if your life! After a while you soon learn that the old "evil serbs' thing was mostly propaganda and there was both terrible suffering and crimes on all sides (including NATO's) in the 90's wars, as there is in every war. In fact Serbia 18 indigenous ethnic communites who enjoying full rights within her borders and Belgrade is a totally cosmopolitain city with people of every race and religion you'll find in the world.
Johnny know what he is doing, was in Serbia this year, hotest women I have ever seen!!
Johnny, I love you!
People who lash out insulting comments at Emir or Serbs obviously know nothing about the region and the painful history. Emir Kusturica is a world-known film director. He is Bosnian Muslim, but he converted to Orthodox Christianity and his Christened Serbian name is Nemanja. He and Depp have been friends forever, they are artists so leave the Balkan wars out of this, because they met for filming and not for politics. Serbia is now a democratic country, and has been for a while, Milosevic is long gone, individuals on all sides in the Balkan wars, Nato included, have committed war crimes, so you have no right labeling anyone a fascist. I am happy that Depp is in Serbia, but he should have dressed better and with more taste, especially when meeting the President of Serbia. A President is still a President, even though it may not be Obama. Peace to all good people from Belgrade, which was recently named Europe's nightlife capital.
Well, he might be cool, and he might be sexy, but what the heck, he came to meet the president of my country dressed like a vagabond? I mean it's cool that he visited Serbia, but to behave like a complete @ss, and to greet a president of a nation dressed like moron, that takes some guts. It correlates with Brad's and Angie's making of "Brangelina" in Namibia, it's an utter show of disrespect of other countries by western celebs! This makes me sick!
