The fun '80s times kept rolling this afternoon on the set of Sex and the City 2, with Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis getting decked out in their retro gear. Kim Cattrall took her own trip back in time earlier this morning, as she worked in fishnet pants with a huge hairdo. It seems safe to assume that the sequel will feature some sort of flashback, giving us a chance to look back in time to when the girls first became friends during their late nights at Tunnel.
To see more from the set, just read more.
People only dressed like that in music videos in the '80s -- not in everyday life.
1Hahaha, I love it. The costumes on SATC are never how people dress in real life; they're an exaggerated, glamorized version of it. That's part of what makes the show/movie so fun to watch.
2Charlotte has my purse! lol I had the interchangeable covers you button on.
3I wonder if these flash backs have any thing to do with Carrie having an abortion in the 80's (or was it the 90's??) and her and Big not being able to have a baby? I remember an episode of the show where the girls talked about who had and whom hadn't had one ( I think it was the one where Miranda debated having one) I'm more than likely waaaayyyy off but it's fun guessing
4I think the flashback scenes look so ridiculous. They better have some great special effects because in the photos SJP looks 20 years older with the hair and make-up.
5I'm darn excited for this!
6Charlotte looks the same!!! Only her hair seems puffier for the flashback.
Can't wait for the film!!
annon22 - good point. I wonder. I think it was the late 80s, as she said she would have a 13yr old kid in that eppy ...
7I understand that a willing suspension of disbelief is necessary sometimes to be entertained, but things like flashbacks and dream sequences in movies always feel like a waste of my time. They're always so contrived and I have to work really hard to believe that these characters are in a different decade. I don't want to have to mentally strain myself at the Sex and the City (2) movie trying to follow a dumb subplot.
I'll totally see it, just wanted to express my mild irritation.
8I think this is FUN! Part of SATC is the clothes and they are sometimes not what people really where, but it's what we WOULD wear if we could.
9*wear*
10Hrm.... I can remember several people dressing like that in real life back in the 80's.
11To *Anon #1 - I have to agree with *hexentanz*, & add this...
12-
Assuming you were a teenager in the 80's, where were you - A convent?! I couldn't go ANYWHERE large crowds (parks, malls, etc.) without drowning in a sea of people dressed in the styles shown above.

Hell, SJP's channeling Madonna, for Pete's sake! People en-mass were doing that too - every time Madonna changed looks... most others followed. That's why decades are defined by the "trends" in music, clothes, jewelery, etc. I don't even want to guess what people 20 years from now will think of this decade... Or how it will be shown through the media.
how funny is this? i think that it's nice that they are keeping charlotte still in her preppy ish style - mind you i don't know if she would have ever really gone the punk route in the 80's since that's just not her conservative style. i'm sure that patricia fields really put a lot of thought into this though - so i'll trust her judgment.
13No offense to the ladies of SATC, and I can't wait for the 2nd movie, but I think it's a bit ridiculous to have these 40+ actresses playing their former 80's selves. I realize that trying to find actresses that look like the SATC 4 would be hard, but I am sorry, I am going thi find this part of the movie corny and un believable.
14Okay - I never watched SATC but SJP's 80's look reminds me of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper (spelling?). I was a kid then but I can remember my cousins totally rocked that look.
15Charlotte looks the exact same and Carrie looks like Madonna ha ha
16Charlotte looks really young!
17Carrie looks awesome in her Madonna-esque outfit! Charlotte looks about the same.
18Ugggh.... I HATED the first movie. Rented it and was amazed the tv show was ever popular.
